The other day on her stories she said it was day 2 or 3 of their family holiday. So they’ve only just arrived. I would let my husband go if I was being left behind at Sani resort not stuck in pissing down England.

It’s that his flight from Berlin back to the holiday is at 6am tomorrow morning!
Fine then. Rather him than me! Especially given that England is so likely to lose. I’m spending the day doing some serious expectation management with my little football fan.
It does grate a little that he has managed to get a ticket last minute when you see all the normal fans who are already there and know they don‘t have a hope in hells chance to get a ticket but are there to support the team anyway. The power of celebrity I guess

He’s got gifted tickets from that company that make the football cards he just showed. I follow Katharine Ryan too and her and her husband went to the last England game gifted by the same company.

I’d rather he got freebies on the back of having talent that he works hard at, than a pointless influencer who’d go and take photos of themself with thumbs up and a smirk.

I'm Scottish and a Scotland fan (obviously), so I generally fall under the "hope England get beat" umbrella, but not because I'm unsportsmanlike but because the English media and English fans are SO unbearable.
Scotland kicked off the campaign this year, yet on coverage an hour before there were interviews with Gareth Southgate etc.
So I can take the Beckett going to Germany thing as a bit of a laugh all while in the back of my head REALLY wanting England to lose because they're all so sure they're going to win it that they're shutting shops early, comedians are moving their tour times (John Bishop), events are cancelling performers to change set times (Richard Ashcrofts) and people are leaving their holidays for a night. And for that cockiness is why other countries want them to lose spectacularly.
But equally the whole thing is ridiculous, a 6am flight back if they win is one thing, but if they lose? That's a depressing flight and you then go "was it worth it" kind of thing.
That all being said though, Robs stories are funny today which is part of what him going is all about I guess

I think the fact that they’ve even made the final is a big enough deal for a lot of fans.
Oh I completely agree with that second paragraph; I mean there was SUCH a massive buzz around Scotland because we even qualified for them this time around, a few of my mates went over to Germany for the week and stuff so I do totally get the buzz around even being part of it.

it disgusts me that I, as a white, none professional football, feel beyond sick when a black player takes a penalty.
they must really love their job to continue, knowing that a good percentage of the rum watching will weaponise their skin colour.

If I was Lou I don’t think Id be that bothered about him going. For one thing it’s his passion, but secondly it’s not as if they only have one holiday a year. They are fortunate enough that they can afford to go away multiple times.

Who? Who will be unbearable? Lifelong football fans who have waited their entire lives for their country to win a major tournament? Just Imagine if Scotland were in the final. I doubt the Scottish fans wouldn’t be acting any different to how the English ones are right now. From what he's said about the extra curricular activities they do via school then I'd imagine so
Yeah they’re definitely at a private school. I think it’s an all girls school. He’s making a ton of money so makes sense. Josh’s daughter is obviously at a private school as well.
They do well to keep the podcast relevant to the average person given the kind of wealthy bubble they both live in.
