It’s been really difficult to comprehend what has happened. It still feels so unreal. I’m grateful for the good memories I do have of Liam through the One Direction years though, and the music he wrote, as that is much more of a legacy than most people leave this world with. I think we can take comfort in that he and the other boys gave so much to the fans with companionship and their music when they themselves were going through incredibly difficult chapters in their lives. I have read so many stories of young fans who are only here in this world due to the music, hope and love One Direction gave them. Music is something that connects us all.
I’m sure a statement will come in time from Louis, Harry, Niall and Zayn. They shared so many years together so now need time and space to grieve. They will need support too. Goodness knows what memories Liam’s death will bring to the surface. We only saw the band from the outside; they had an entirely different experience and saw things we did not.
It’s devastating that, should there be a reunion in the years to come, it will look incredibly different to what we had initially envisioned. Boyzone had a reunion of sorts after Stephen died. It just won’t feel the same with three and a newbie would feel like an unwelcome intruder.
