My mum was 31 and my dad was 35 when I was born (they separated when I was 5 and never lived together). I started school in the millennium and most of my class mates had young parents. I remember one girl thought my dad was my grandad (probably didn’t help that he was bald).
My Nan was 32 and my grandad was 36 when my mum was born (she’s the youngest of 7), so my grandparents were already into their sixties, nearly seventies when I came along. I also had no living great grandparents.
My nan’s mum had my Nan when she was 33, she was the first and only child, which was quite unusual in 1932. My great Nan went through the menopause not long after.
I think the only thing I disliked about my my mum’s age was that she never seemed to have any energy. A lot of my class mates had young mums that would run around and be silly with them, my mum always seemed permanently exhausted!
