How nice and generous is it that the Mowbrays (Nick and Jamie) have opened up their house for trick and treaters, and are gifting toys and sweets? I just hope for their sakes that everything is being monitored closely - remember the drug-laced lollies that found their way into food bank boxes?
Nick might be a bit ... problematic (suing employers for speaking out about working there, etc.), but there's no denying this very generous. Even if it is a PR move, it's still a good look for them to be doing this. Apparently they ran out of toys at one point and sent someone out to get more!

I'm not a fan of Mike King. I heard that interview he did with Heather du Plessis-Allan (yes, I'm an old fogey who listens to ZB), and he sounded as if he was drunk. He was slurring - maybe he just talks like that? I don't know.
But no way should his charity have been given all those millions when others don't see a cent. There was an article in NZ Herald earlier about a teen who committed suicide after calling for help to two helplines - one didn't answer; the other said they'd call her back but never did.

Me too! So many people think he’s all that. I’ve tried telling people in my personal life how awful he is and they just won’t hear it. Gross.
I'd love to know how many employees I Am Hope have because as of their last Charity filings they spent almost a million dollars in a year on staff wages.

I Am Hope is a scheme for Mike King to get rich. He has figured out charity work can pay well, subsidise his living costs, and is a way to generate loads of assets for the future. A total scammer. Unfortunately he is on such a pedestal as an everyday kiwi hero that it is hard for people to see what he is actually up to. Two counselling sessions is jack tit and does not cure mental health. Two sessions just opens the door and then funding stops and people are still broken. Don’t worry tho, Mike has all the answers. Alcohol is the next solution after two measly sessions so just start drinking.
* edit to add sarcasm about alcohol as the spouse of someone with depression and anxiety whose mental health ends up in the bin with even a small amount of alcohol. Living a sober life, taking meds and exercise keeps them well. Mike’s narrative is dangerous.

Except she doesn't buy the stuff, it's the "members fund" that buys the stuff. As well as paying for patreon "members" deposit money in the members fund and that pays for all the postage and things she "buys" off small businesses. I.E. she pays for NOTHING out of her own pocket. She gets paid a tit ton to do this
