I have been rubbish at no spend as we've been trying to decorate and it's my kids birthday next week, but I did manage to get some new shelves second hand so £100 instead of £275 new!! I'm also still not in my overdraft so taking that as a win!!

Day 1

Was in the office yesterday. Both OH and I had packed lunches and he got himself a free coffee so no money spent

Day 2

Home sick with flu today 🤧🥵 Ordered some pull ups for my eldest as we'd nearly run out and OH popped to shop for some bits for lunch today and dinner tonight ahead of grocery shop tomorrow.

Day 2

Had to buy dinner. Got my boyfriend the things he needed. Forgot to get something for myself. Too tired to go again so I'll just raid the fridge. Did overspend on croissants and chocolate. Do not need those but kinda ate myself happy again. So I guess they are essential.

Walked three laps in the store and asked multiple people for fly swatters. They all pointed me in different directions. I guess the school kids are not paid beyond stocking shelves. Got followed by security and asked him if he could help me. At least he knew where to find them. Finally found them, bought them and took them home as my own personal 🏆

Since last year I only saw them online. My mum had the same thing. Now I bought one for her and one for me. At least I'm on time this year. Since when are these things so hard to find?!

I can only do Low-Spend.

Boss is off for 2 weeks, which means I don't have to go into the office - saving £160! For not going in 4 days over the fortnight!

Day 3

Was hoping to stay at home and rot into a flu-y puddle but no such luck. FIL is visiting so sweated my bits off cleaning the house from top to bottom (because there's no f*cking way my OH would do it tomorrow morning 🙄) and popped to the supermarket. Bought meals for the weekend and had to top up on milk for Wee Man and milk for us. OH thought it was a great time to buy a couple of bottles of wine for him and his dad to share so grocery bill was 50% more than we'd normally pay for a fortnight but the food will only last the weekend 🤦‍♀️

Day 4

Rested on my laurels after busting my butt cleaning the house the day before. Had to pop out for some groceries that we forgot the day before and some toiletries.

Day 5

Spent the day at home my FIL taking the opportunity to play with my kids. Went for a family walk in the sunshine. OH and FIL went to their concert, OH bought them beers which was like £15 🤦‍♀️ I got to stay at home and try and wrangle the kids to bed alone while both of them were upset my OH wasn't there and I was still quite sick, lucky me.

Day 6

Took the kids to a local playpark, spent £7 to get in and OH spent a tenner on ice creams.

Big spend day today

Booked a mani pedi for just before a family wedding next month so that’s £50
Bought Baby Parsley a fold up baby deckchair and parasol thing in B&M for £12
Went to the park with Mr Parsley and Baby Parsley via the cafe so that’s was almost £9 for a flat white and frappe type thing

Yesterday did the gift card for the weekly shop with Sprive so that’s some cashback going towards overpaying our mortgage. But also had to buy berries for Baby Parsley (we’ve got a berry boddler) so that set me back £30000000 for a pack of blueberries and pack of strawberries that’ll go off in 30 seconds.

But Wednesday and Thursday were no spend days so bit of a mixed week.

Berry boddler made me chuckle. Had I known how much of a berry fiend my eldest was going to be I would have been a stake in a berry farm!

My last shop of the month arriving tomorrow. I need to buy a few bits fresh in the week and do a click and collect.
Since starting the skinnyjabs my shopping items have totally changed and I need a think about organising it differently.

Day 7

Last day of FIL's visit and he kindly bought us lunch. We did pay for fancy doughnuts and ice creams though 🤦‍♀️

Day 8

Office day. Took leftovers for lunch and managed to scrape together food for dinner despite FIL eating us out of house and home 🤣

Day 9

OH bought lunch and we had lunch together in my office. Was nice to have a little date lunch. Stopped off in Lidl on the way home to buy stuff for dinner using discounts on my app. Picked up a new clothes airer from the aisle of doom after mine fell over in the garden and broke into pieces 🤦‍♀️

Day 10

Grocery shopping day for me. Spent less than we have in the past couple of weeks by focusing on whole plant foods. Topped up my Jam Doughnut account by buying a voucher for the shopping.

Day 11

Working from home day for me. Lunch and dinner already in after buying up all the grub yesterday so no spend day. Been very tempted to buy makeup and clothes but resisting so far. Determined not to buy any new clothes until I start to lose weight and have sold off all the clothes I need to get rid of. Doing well sticking to my product pan as well so determined not to buy anything.

Day 11: dentist and hairdresser. Could have been less but this worked with my agenda.

No unesessary spending yet. Being too tired to function is a great way to not fall into the trap of endless online doomshopping.

Did ok but not as good as I hoped. Seemed I had a lot of things that needed sorting out this month which I had to pay for.

But all in all not complaining as I've not overspent

Hi, joining in if that's ok.

My finances are a mess however when I write out my budget, on paper I should have plenty left over after all bills paid / commitments met.

My downfall is pissing money away on frivolities like fast food and online shopping for things i dont need and cant afford.

So need to join the no spend!

Spent £90 in tescos today but that is meals for me and my family (husband plus 2 teenagers obsessed with protein) for the next week. Husband works away so he's only here at the weekend. The teens eat at the school canteen so that's a whack out of my budget but I know my limits in terms of making lunches / buying what is needed for lunches (can't do it, I'm a failure).

So I've got food. Cleaning products. Toiletries. Make up. Clothes and shoes.

I don't need to waste money on crap for dopamine hits!

Really need to make sure I make a better effort at sticking to the no spends. Short cash again this month and feel like we're wasting food too

I found what helped a lot with food waste was to buy on the day or for only a couple of days. The other benefit is that I've spent less on food :)

We're not really able to do that because the boys kick off in shops so only have the opportunity to do a food shop on Wednesday or Thursday lunchtime. I think I need to plan our meals and use up what we've already bought as we have a habit of buying cupboard stuff that we fancy or is on offer and then taking an age to get to eat it.

The no spend has ended and I was quite good. But I just caved and bought another leather jacket on a whim. It had a 65% discount but it's still € 83 for a jacket I don't need. All because I had some time to spare during my commute.

Do you guys have any tips on how to stay away from online shopping? Can you block websites on your phone? Turn off online banking? Or do I actually need to grow a spine?

Hi, joining in as need to spend less, got debt and just moved house so need items for our home but want to save for these not add to the debit however it is hard as so much to do. So far i have decorated the living room just need a light and carpet for there so I want to save as much as possible for them. Ive done a 2 week food shop instead of week one to try and save some, planned meals and have small amount for fresh top up bits if needed. I just need to stay away from shops and browsing online. I think noting down spends will help me see where the money goes. I have two trips out already planned this month so will allow for them but other wise hope to spend no money other than fuel and food.
