....I don't need a new switch, I don't need a new switch, I don't need a new switch....I'm getting serious fomo!! Keep telling myself it's a lot just for Mario kart though!!!

Adding this so you all can get ready for yours when it comes

Keep the switch in handheld for setup, I set mine up with the TV but nope it wants handheld lol
Don't plug the AC into the dock an wall as you will need it all out for transferring

For transferring, both switches need to be kept in handheld an both need to be attached to the AC, not through the dock but from themselves otherwise they won't let you do it, an obvious both need to be close to one another

Its pretty easy to set up, an won't take too long depending on what's getting transferred, you get some fun music in the setup stage too lol

You may need to give your OG switch a update before this as when I went onto systems the option to transfer to switch 2 wasn't there, after an update it appeared, it really doesn't take long though

The clicking is freaking awesome an its soooo much easier getting it into the dock, it comes with a screen cover that apparently you aren't to remove, I tried an couldn't actually get it off lol so my own screen cover is on top of theirs

Overall pretty excited to jump in, I got like a hour an half before I need to go to the bank I get my new car tomorrow an need to do money stuff before work, but at least I got it all set up before I have to go

I'm not actually in a huge rush to play it, I'm more interested in trying the magnets

I think Nintendo did launch it on purpose without an amazing launch line up as they don't need to, the improved games sell it and when they need a boost for the holidays the big games can come out.

I love it so much, it feels like what the switch should have been with proper snapping controllers. Although saying that the switch was what the wii U was probably trying to be.

I want to get into Zelda but don't have the time for that at the moment, so just played some mario O. I'm sure it's a big upgrade but at the same time it looks and plays exactly as I remember it. But remember how we all remember goldeneye and thesedays it's an unplayable slow mess.

Another tip for those who want to play the upgraded Switch 2 editions of their games (eg Zelda Tears of the Kingdom) for free because you've got a Nintendo Switch Online+ account, you have to click the Nintendo Switch 2 option on the title screen - as though you want to buy it.

This launches the page on the eShop but it detects you've got a NSO+ account and gives you a download option (ie without paying).

It probably won't confuse anyone else, but it confused me, because I expected it to automatically detect I'd got a NSO+ account, given I'd signed in, but it didn't.

Then, once you've installed the update, the logo on the homepage updates to show 'Nintendo Switch 2 Edition'.

Well, my Switch 2 has now shipped, as have some of the accessories I've ordered.

Now it's just a waiting game.

Switch 2 first look, really glad they've changed how it connects and no more sliding - snapping magnets will be great! Looks a bit generic, all black and not quite as iconic looking as the previous and most of their other machines. I'd want to get with pure red and blue joycons.

The bezel is still pretty big, but Nintendo are about the profit margin rather than making high end stuff so to be expected.

I didn't want the Switch 2 but now, because it's sold out EVERYWHERE all I can think about it buying one. Well played Nintendo.

I think ours is lost at the DPD hub in Birmingham. I’m pretty pissed off about that even though I originally wasn’t rushing out to buy one

I’m gonna move all my save data to the Switch 2 and probably just sell my switch 1. Can’t see me using two especially if it’s true that 1 games load faster on the new console..
That being said I’m probably going to have to check every game myself just to make sure.

I’ve upgraded my NSO membership. GameCube is one of my favourite systems so really looking forward to that. And getting the Zelda upgrades will be nice too. I never actually finished TOTK so maybe this will get me back into it.

Ive finally gone for it and ordered a switch 2, know ill end up getting one away so may as well start enjoying it now! Excited to try the new mario kart despite the reviews...

Probably my only slight criticism of MKW is that is feels obvious this is version 1. We all know there will be lots more characters, outfits and courses, given how it was with MK8 Deluxe, but the base game of MK8 still felt complete. However, with MKW there's an uneven amount of character costumes - some have way more than others. I very much doubt Nintendo hasn't already designed loads more outfits, but they're obviously keeping them back for the inevitable update that they'll produce a snazzy trailer for. But that's not Nintendo specific, it's common practice nowadays.

I've never played it but apparently the first version of Mario Cart 8 on Wii u was quite lacking, although I can believe it's a lot worse these days with the way of the world where you often expect games broken on day 1.

Oh how I wish we could go back to the old days when they made sure it was good enough as there was no way to patch it.

We’ve bought one to put away for our sons’ Christmas (though OH and I will have to give it a test just to be sure it’s all in working order ofc ). Says it’s with Royal Mail for delivery this morning so hopefully no delays, although we’re not in any rush so doesn’t matter really.

Just posting to say that hubby had ordered ours via Shopto months ago. He checked again on Wed night for an update or despatch info and… nothing!

They still hadn’t taken the money and all references to it had vanished.

Luckily he found that Smyths toys had them in and ordered and paid for one straight away, which we collected yesterday lunchtime

We spent last night playing new Mariokart, reliving a bit of my childhood playing Gameboy Dr Mario, and hours lost on the GameCube version of Zelda.

Wow that was lucky he found one.
Ours has arrived in our area, just waiting for the delivery time. Woohoo!

Mario Kart is excellent. It’s so much fun.
We were very lucky with the Switch 2. We didn’t preorder and just checked Argos when we woke up at 6.

Mine arrived too! About to set it up. Still think I’m going to set it up as new though.
