I've been enjoying my switch, it's such a difference not hearing it trying take off compared to my switch one, an then magnets are amazing

I've never been one to really read reviews, unless they get paid goodies they just witch an when they get giving tons of stuff they kiss it's a, an for once am glad there was no media switches given out, maybe it's me but am sick of these places getting stuff just so they can write a review then ditch it, cause you know none of them are gamers an will be playing it outside of the ten minutes to be able to do a review, so good for Nintendo for blocking the switch with a day one update that didn't realise till it's launch so that we all got to experience it at the same time

Most professional places delayed putting up a review until they had the chance to put it through it's places. The guardian rushed out their review based on testing the system months ago before games and patches were finalised

He complains that it's not radically new, what did he expect? It's 8ish times more powerful. You just have to look at cyberpunk to see what a huge upgrade it is.

The Switch 2 is estimated to have 3.1 TFLOPs when docked and 1.7 TFLOPs when handheld, compared to the original Switch's 0.4 TFLOPs docked and under 0.2 TFLOPs in handheld mode. This represents a substantial increase in graphical processing power.
Oh I know, stuff like that's annoying. You can tell from looking at the console that it's not radically new. It's a Switch 2 - clue is in the name. It's meant to be an upgraded version - ie enhancing aspects of the original - instead of releasing a totally new console.

I swear some gaming journalists almost want to hate it. They'll compare it to the current gen consoles as if the Switch 2 is trying to compete with the PS5/high end PCs, when they obviously know it's not.

But that said, I've been really impressed with Mario Kart World, which is the only made-for Switch 2 game I've played so far. The graphics look so much better than the Switch, which you'd expect. When I initially saw it at the Nintendo Direct I thought it looked like a slightly upgraded version of Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, but that was from a livestream which is obviously gonna be lower quality than playing it in 1080p on a full HD screen. The difference is much bigger.

Probably my only slight criticism of MKW is that is feels obvious this is version 1. We all know there will be lots more characters, outfits and courses, given how it was with MK8 Deluxe, but the base game of MK8 still felt complete. However, with MKW there's an uneven amount of character costumes - some have way more than others. I very much doubt Nintendo hasn't already designed loads more outfits, but they're obviously keeping them back for the inevitable update that they'll produce a snazzy trailer for. But that's not Nintendo specific, it's common practice nowadays.

I have a couple of review YouTubers I would trust
Eeowna
switch-up
Ircha Gaming.

We have 2 Switch OLEDS, will be sharing the Switch 2 for now. How can we both play things like TOTK with a different save file? Is it just by logging into our own Nintendo account?

Just posting to say that hubby had ordered ours via Shopto months ago. He checked again on Wed night for an update or despatch info and… nothing!

They still hadn’t taken the money and all references to it had vanished. 😡

Luckily he found that Smyths toys had them in and ordered and paid for one straight away, which we collected yesterday lunchtime 🙌

We spent last night playing new Mariokart, reliving a bit of my childhood playing Gameboy Dr Mario, and hours lost on the GameCube version of Zelda. 🙌

That's annoying! I ordered mine with ShopTo and, once they told me I was eligible for release day delivery, I had to pay in full within 24 hours of pre-ordering. That was a month or so ago.

I didn't really want to, given there was still no guarantee at the time, but I guess they didn't want people ordering who then had no means to pay when it came to the release date. It arrived fine yesterday.

So I wonder if they emailed your husband to pay and maybe he just assumed it was an order confirmation email? Just an idea. Not that it really matters now anyway. :D

Thanks I'll maybe check them out, I'd go with yt reviews more than these gaming journalists who quite clearly are not gamers themselves

I also need to find this out as well an how going between consoles with the one game will work, I want to pass mine to my niece an let her play what's already on it but also want to play on my switch 2 my own save file of the game

I've never played it but apparently the first version of Mario Cart 8 on Wii u was quite lacking, although I can believe it's a lot worse these days with the way of the world where you often expect games broken on day 1.

Oh how I wish we could go back to the old days when they made sure it was good enough as there was no way to patch it.

Well, after waiting all day yesterday and two calls to customer service this morning, my delivery will be out later today apparently. Although that’s what they said yesterday and I’ve no time window yet so who knows.

And all this on my birthday 😩

Thank you.
Fantastic to hear you were able to get one. Most places must have had a good number available. I haven’t heard of many people struggling to get them this time around. Seems to have been a really good launch.

I think the launch was pretty well timed with the chip shortage long over, and there's no killer game at the moment that made people think they need it day 1. The dripping of games out over the next few months is probably a good strategy.

Mario kart 8 still looks great, and it's half the price of the new one.

Mario Kart is excellent. It’s so much fun.
We were very lucky with the Switch 2. We didn’t preorder and just checked Argos when we woke up at 6.

Well, after a DPD van passing my house, a third call to customer service and an hour round trip to pick it up at the depot, I finally have it.

I guess if nothing else, I have a story to tell…. And a Switch 2 🥰

What memory card is everyone using? The SanDisk or Samsung one? (If and when you come to need a memory card)

Im thinking of getting that one as I’ve always used SanDisk. I know there’s an official Nintendo Samsung one but I’ve been told the SanDisk is a wee bit faster

You will need to get the express one, I had originally wanted to take mine out the switch one an just use that but they have made it so you need the express, it's due to the speeds on the 2 or something
