Wow this thread really has become quite nasty hasn't it, it seems if you don't agree that it was an accident you're some crazy armchair detective whos obsessed about true crime and you get shouted down.
Why can't we all just have our own opinions we don't have to agree.
There's no evidence to suggest anything sinister happened but there's also no evidence yet to suggest it was an accident either.
There are things about the situation that seem a bit odd or don't add up I guess time will tell.
There is plenty of evidence to suggest it was an accident. The fact she was near the river, the fact her phone was found, the dog was loose, the fact there were only 10 minutes of her time unaccounted for, the fact the police have clearly ensured those close to her have alibis - ALL THIS IS EVIDENCE POINTING TOWARDS AN ACCIDENT.

I was attacked in 2021 at 9am in the morning. A regular normal morning. In the town centre, witness by at least 20 people. A beggar jumped me. Pushed by Costa tea mug into my face covering me in red hot tea. Took my crossbody bag off me and pushed me over. I broke my shoulder in two places. The police interviewed people. Two women said I attacked him first, I waved my stick at him. Yes I did, after he attacked me and I was lying on the ground. I have never raised my hand or anything at anyone ever in my life. Because the two witnesses were believed, because there was no cctv, the cps wouldn’t prosecute him. Four months after he attacked me, he spat in the mouth of a policeman when he was caught stealing cheese. He told the policeman he had aids. Guess what, yes, they are going to prosecute him for that. Fuck the police. They are crap. I hope to god you never have to rely on them. I’ve learnt my lesson.
When two men in a Mercedes tried to talk my then 14 year old daughter to get into the car with them. At 11am on her way to Sainsbury’s, took them 7 hours to come to the house.
‘Look at this Carrick guy they’ve just prosecuted, rapist. The police look after their own. They are not interested in us.

I'm a little surprised at how some closest to Nicola have implied that she can't possibly of had an accident because shes just not that type of person, it really doesn't matter how good a wife or mother or daughter or well dressed etc no one is above the unexpected happening, like they seem truly offended that people or the police would think she was capable of doing something as ordinary as tripping in the wrong place .

new to thread - have been following this on the news but didn’t know it was being discussed here. I reckon the simplest answer is unfortunately the correct one, she was on her work call and the dog either took off after a bird or something towards the water or was runnning around and maybe barked which she thought was distress and went down to look for it in a panic (leaving her phone on the bench). That bank of the river looks v steep and with her wearing wellies you could assume it was muddy/slippy.
then there the element of cold water shock and currents, I also don’t know if her family mentioned she was a strong swimmer or not?
I think, sadly, she’s in the river and I hope they find her soon for the family’s sake ❤

Jeez Louise. Why are people so obsessed with the flamin' dog harness? I can't imagine one single officer involved gave a damn about it but you all go on as if it's a crucial key to solving this "mystery".

Also my sister tried collapsing once in front of our childhood dog (also a spaniel) to see what it would do, and he left her there and went to try and get his treats out of the treat box!

Unless the police have put out a false timeline and they have put out a totally false outline of what likely happened, it's clear that she ended up in the river and drowned.

The only people who will have reasons to reject that hypothesis is her family, and anyone else who loved her.

They are going to hold out hope that the reason for her disappearance is anything but drowning as they will not give up hope she is alive.

I lost my Mum a month ago and its the worst thing I have ever gone through and I'm still struggling to function. I cannot even begin to imagine what her family are going through.

I'd love to come up with some convoluted scenario that meant there was a chance she was still alive but nothing other than drowning makes sense.
I’m sorry for your loss. I was shocked in Prince Harry’s book he admitted imagining his mum was still alive somewhere as a child but it’s a coping mechanism isn’t it.

He’s nervous, he can’t make eye contact, he’s constantly moving his shoulders all indicators that he’s lying. You look at any case, he didn’t want to actually talk about anything, he explained it as a dream, if you look at her mum and dad’s interview there’s genuine emotion.
How on earth can you possibly analyse the body language and behaviour of someone you don’t know?!

Apparently this is where the river wyre leads to, into the sea. oh my god i hope they extend their search. it’d be bad enough thinking she’s in a river but the sea?!
I don’t think she’ll be found far from where she disappeared. There was another poster who mentioned another man going missing and his body being found 2 miles away weeks later.

the tide goes back and forth all the time and her clothing is probably getting caught up on debris or rocks in the water. I think that’s what the press conference was for today too, to stop speculation but to tell people what she was wearing so they can look out for it when the time comes.

I did wonder about something like that. There are so many healthy people who have died suddenly like this in the past few years....
Can we please not make this into a daft anti-vaccine debate? No doubt you will say that’s not what you’re referring to but it’s common rhetoric within those circles and it’s not appropriate here.

Barring helicopter sweeps of the estuary, the police don't really have the resources for large open water searches. They'd rely on passing vessels to report anything. If Nicola did end up in the river, unless her body gets snagged on something underwater, it would most likely be a fishing boat that would spot her out in the sea. That's what happened with Libby Squire after she was dumped in the Humber. She was found after 8 weeks. Sadly, there's always the chance that a body in a tidal river will be lost to the sea forever.

Carry on discussing here.

Though I’m shocked at the number of tattlers still not believing the police's explanation that Nicola sadly fell in the water somehow.

❤ Nicola
Her family have said the same thing. They don’t believe the police have evidence to support the theory. It sounds like they have no evidence at all.

I can’t stop thinking about how she went on a mundane dog walk and never came home.
Sorry to sound morbid but I was meeting my friend for a coffee today and as I was closing my front door, for the first time the thought of it’s not guaranteed I’ll come back entered my mind.

Would the water be deep from the get go? Not like a beach that does shallow to deep? I can totally see a dog tripping you up or just tripping up over your own feet and falling in. If deep straight away, I would simply drown as can't swim at all. If she could swim couldn't she have waded water a while until someone walked by!? Unless she banged her head first and was unconscious when she fell in.
Treading water whilst wearing jeans, a coat, a gilet and wellies is not feasible in my opinion. I posted in the last thread that my papa drowned in full view of onlookers because he was wearing waders. He could not be helped even though a man tried. That water would also have been freezing which has an impact

Frankly the theory that she tripped over the dog and fell in that way is a more convincing explanation, given the evidence, than her partner rushing out, murdering her and then rushing back home again with no one seeing him.
