Deleted this app swiftly not long after I’d installed it, dog shit date was far too intense.

I’m not on next door but our estate Facebook group is GOLD.

My other half and I a few weeks ago spent an entire afternoon off work following some parking drama 😂

mostly parking rants, including passive aggressive notes left on cars, ‘disguised’ photos making a ‘general point’ and then the owner of said car wades in taking offence to their car being photographed. Well, if you didn’t park like a dick, there wouldn’t be people annoyed by it!

I'm in another country where the equivalent is a site called "Neighbourly" -- and the content is much the same as what's been posted here! It gets very tiresome ... just endless complaints about everything and loads of bludging ("Does anyone have a near new King-sized mattress and 60" smart TV they're not using that my poor parents who lost everything in a flood and weren't insured, could have for free?"). (Sympathy for them losing everything, but why did they not have insurance?!).

I live in an apartment complex that has a FB community page which used to be great, but just in the past year or so serial whiners have moved in and seem to post daily looking for things to be outraged about. One of the pools has been emptied for maintenance - there is still another one that people can use - the reasons for this needing to happen at this time are very clear, yet people start whining and asking if they'll get some of their body corporate fees refunded as a result. The communal gardens have also come under the spotlight recently, with some complaining there isn't enough colour. I'm just waiting for someone to complain about the noise of tennis balls being bounced!

I had never heard about this app until I read this. Downloaded it and was kinda disappointed.
All I have is chippy recommendation, fixing this and that, looking for tree surgeon and dog sitter and a woman that needs to move because her son has an extra y chromosome and there's too many cars????

Where's the drama?! Will keep it for a few days and hopefully it all kicks off otherwise it'll be deleted 😂

I don’t have the app but I’m on the Facebook group and it’s the usual, dog poo, who’s car is the it’s blocking me in and has my parcel been delivered to you with photo.

The recent drama was the Cencus and people knocking on peoples doors and what colour vest they were wearing. Some woman ranted for hours about it and refused to answer if she’d done the cencus because how dare someone knock on her door and surely it wasn’t legal. Some else said ‘Hun they are not allowed to do that, report it’ It actually says on the government website they will 🤦🏻‍♀️

Now it’s all about the building of 700 houses and the traffic.

I moved from a village to a city and I’m on both fb pages the difference in complaints is amusing. The village one I often think how can you get worked up about that

There was a great one on my local Facebook page the other day. Someone posted a photo of a large pile of white powder at a local area that has lots of walking and cycling tracks, cue lots of hysterical posts along the lines of 'It's KIDS doing DRUGS' and 'It's POISON put down for DOGS'. Until someone pointed out that it was more likely to be piles of chalk being put down to later mark out running and cycling tracks. But, no, he got shouted down, poor sod, with all the DRUGS and POISON.

Then an older lady called Barbara (who very rapidly became my favourite local Facebooker) came on to tell everyone to pull themselves together and that she had smelled and tasted the white powder and it was, indeed, chalk.

I'm not dumb enough to think that the local kids would be leaving thousands of pounds worth of cocaine just lying around a local beauty spot, but I'm not sure I would have the guts to actually taste the stuff. Good on you, Barbara!
I bet Barbara was a little disappointed 😂I know I would be

I forgot about Bonfires, its coming up Bonfire season so I'm expecting pages full of moaning. I actually live near a village that has a code and Bonfires, noisy garden work etc are all banned on the weekend so it's always entertaining on the 1st hot weekend day when every normal person rushes out and fires up the petrol lawnmower or the strimmer.

Our community Facebook page is the same, everyday someone has a missing cat 🐈 followed by the dog shit post and if the said dog owner, doesnt come and pick it up they will hunt them down, or release video footage they have, I wait in anticipation for that day it never comes 😞 followed by has my parcel been delivered to someone else by mistake, followed by picture evidence of where it’s been delivered to, there has been COVID advice by non experts followers by advice from an actual doctor who been shot down in flames 🔥 I could go on but I won’t, it is definitely a source of amusement x
Oh we get the video footage. And then the argument about whether it’s legal or not to post videos of people without their consent 😂

Omg this thread has me in stitches. My neighbors complain about everything too and argue all the time. When I served on the board in my building (we must have eighty tenants) someone wanted to set up a Facebook group for our neighbors and I was a hard veto after seeing the sh!t going down on NextDoor. I stopped reading there after a neighbor got snippy with me when I linked her to the post she was looking for. She accidentally assigned the handyman a racist last name 😂
I don’t visit the website anymore but I still receive highlights. If a cat so much as takes a wee outdoors, I hear all about it. 🥲

I keep getting emails about a neighbor whose shared uninspiring photos of the area with annoying motivational captions (“rise and grind!!”)

Save 👏 it 👏 for 👏 your 👏 Instagram 👏 !!!!

I know I sound super mean but it is almost that time of the month. Meaning, this post comes from the heart. 😑 😤

So I recently signed up to the Nextdoor site out of interest after a leaflet came through my letterbox and decided to join and check it out. I don’t know whether to laugh or be slightly concerned I’m living nearby a bunch of busybodies!

Examples of some recent posts:

Did anyone see a man who didn’t look like he was from the area driving down the road at 3pm today? No, I did not, but people are allowed to drive up and down roads and *shock horror* they don’t have to be local to do so.

Hi all, just moved to the area, happy to be here, hope to be friends, etc, etc, blah, blah, long spiel, oh, and here’s a link to my GoFundMe page to raise money for furniture for my new place

Free Stuff to whoever wants to collect it!
With pictures of said stuff underneath which you’d mistake for rubbish if left on the side of the road because it looks broken and dirty.

Did anyone hear GUNSHOTS last night, around 11:30pm last night? Cue lots of panic, drama and outrage, people riling each other up, completely ignoring the one solitary poster who piped up and said “it wasn’t gunshots, it was fireworks, I saw them from my window”, NO, of course it has to be guns, because gunshots sounding off for half an hour makes so much more sense than fireworks.

I’m not on Facebook so although I’ve read about local groups like this I’ve never actually seen one up close and personal like this before. It’s fascinatingly odd lol.

Have you joined yours!? Any funny posts to share? 😋
Even though I have moved from the area now, I still belong to a few local groups on Facebook. Very similar type of posts really. “Did you see a bunch of suspicious boys walking up the middle path” or “my bin has not been collected this week” blah, blah. 🤣🤣

I had to come off it, multiple requests for someone to fit an outside tap,( I don't know if that's an euphemism ), one bloke posting terrible Dad jokes every day , some one else posted a picture of his dinner every day and one weirdo was supposedly reporting me to the police for bullying and harassment when I asked him in a perfrctly civil manner why he was opposed to people wearing masks during lockdown. I came to the conclusion I don't want anything to do with my neighbours they are all weirdos. 😂

Do they post pics of the turds as well, like they do on mine? I hate people who don’t pick up after their dog as much as the next person but I really don’t need to see that when I’m just innocently scrolling through looking for posts to mock.
Yeah quite a few of them did 💩

I'm deleting this bloody app 😂

Everyday I get 20 notifications from the same post from 3 weeks ago going on about a stolen purse from her shopping bag that was on a wall (??? Why???) and its on camera and if the culprit doesn't return purse then police will be involved 🙄

Should have done that in the first place but why did you leave your purse in a shopping bag on a wall????

Anyway, the constant notification for that is annoying but that's pretty much all that's happening on it for me 😂

I somehow got made a lead on Nextdoor which is basically a moderator but unlike normal mods who can be anonymous, my name and address was available to any nutjob who took umbrage when I removed their bullshit. I got so fed up with deleting the relentless adverts, dodgy tradesmen, sock puppets recommending said tradesman, conspiracy theories, personal abuse, naming and shaming, identifiable photos of people who allegedly steal dogs, casual racism and other nonsense that I deleted my account.

I think it was the dawn of my now established misanthropy.

Ohhh, almost some drama.

Lady wanted a dog walker, someone offered to do it for free but got ignored and had a right go 😂

Some complaint about kids playing with stones??

And my favourite of the day, someone posting a picture of the bottom of a door asking if anyone recognised it because their package was taken there 😂
