New Year Resolutions

New to Tattle Life? Click "Order Thread by Most Liked Posts" button below to get an idea of what the site is about:
It's nearly time to kick this crappy year out the door and look forward to the New Year. Whilst I'm hopeless at sticking to New Year resolutions, I do try to think of something. This time I am going to try to exercise more. Usually the idea fills me with dread, but the waistline needs help!!!

What will you be doing?

Try and conquer my alcoholism once and for all.

It's not as bad as it was some 12 months ago when I made a similar resolution, but it still clings on when I am at my most lowest of ebbs

Purely to get a new job and get my life back on track in terms of feeling passionate and like I'm going somewhere. I've felt in limbo and felt "stuck" for the past few years, so I think a new job I'm excited about will help!

That's the big overarching goal for 2021, my small goal is to learn how to overhand serve consistently in volleyball so I don't make a tit out of myself so much when practise starts again 😂 and to squat 60kg with proper form at the gym!

Limit my phone and social media use I spent hours doing absolutely nothing productive or useful

Start exercising regularly and actually sticking to it, I have found I don't actually like the gym so find exercises I enjoy

Find a hobby I enjoy, I currently do nothing other then work and watch telly

I won’t be making any this year, every year I buy a diary with every intention of documenting but get as far as 2nd week in January, then remember again a few months later! Although I would like to make it my mission in life to myself to read more, I have a pile of books that I keep looking at, but lately life has got in the way.

Maybe I should make a resolution to myself that I should take more time out for myself, I’m often frazzled trying to do everything for everyone else, then get frustrated because when I do try and take time out I’m often offending the people I do everything for. I just feel selfish if I say no to anyone wanting me to help them with something wether it’s important or not, I always want to do the right thing.

I absolutely need to lose weight, I’m very very unhealthy so mine are:

Weight watchers from tomorrow (I can’t even bear to wait until nyd)
Less fizzy and drink more water
Try and get out for a walk every day

Mr pinkblush is giving up those syrupy, creamy, large laden heart attack coffees so I said I'd stop drinking large coke.
Its not much I know but once I get one thing under control then i can look at other things. If I make a list I know i'll just feel pressure and end up binning it.

Get back to running 10K regularly. I completed couch to 5K this year but need more of a challenge.

Reduce my alcohol intake (this year it’s crept up through lockdown boredom). Will start with dry January.

Less mindless phone scrolling and more reading.

It’s not necessarily a New Years resolution but I’ve set a goal to do something new with my children every week of 2021. We tend to fall into a rut of doing to same theming every week and with neither my husband or myself tied down to a companies hours next year, I think now is the time to do it.

Tone my body up but equally try and work on my self confidence/body confidence at the same time. I let the number on the scales dictate my whole mood and how I feel and it’s really bad. I have done for at least 15+ years now and it’s a really unhealthy obsession but equally a really difficult one to break. Rather than looking at a photo and thinking ah that’s nice, I scrutinise it and just worry if I look large or if other people think I look large. It’s awful but stems from bad friendship circles as a teenager.

Spend less time worrying or putting effort into those who don’t put effort into me.

Less time on social media.

Hmmm I’m not sure 100% firmed up on the goals yet but:

1: Lose the weight I have gained this year and get back to my wedding weight or lower (hopefully in time for a holiday somewhere! 🤞🏻)
2: Keep up with running but incorporate weights to support my goals/stop me getting injured
3: Read 50 books
4: Set a monthly savings goal and DO IT
5: Try and stay on top of the washing (least likely to happen 😂)

Lose rest of my baby weight. I've already lost a bit but not happy with my weight yet. I had bad body issues/ED when I was younger so hoping to get to a weight I like without going into danger territory

Just be a good Mum and enjoy parenthood - I love being a Mum but when he was born I had a very bad stage of PND. I thought about ending it all I was so bad at one point. I haven't had them thoughts again but thoughts have changed altogether - I'm worrying all the time about his milestones, whether he likes me, if I'm doing things right, if his routine is right - I want to just chill out and go with the flow more

Start saying what I think more - I hold back and let myself be a pushover. I'm gonna stop being a mug and stick up for myself more
