Lose weight, get fitter, stop letting thoughts occupy my mind that really dont matter, buy less, stress less. Try to go more places and see more. Find some peace.

1. Go for a walk every day.
2. Spend less time on my phone.
3. Cool the jets - stopping overthinking & being more in control of my thoughts & in turn, emotions. Any suggestions as to how to do this are much appreciated - I'm thinking the previous two as well as meditation will help.

In 2020 I lost 2 stone for my physical health so 2021 is about mental health. God knows we all need to look after ourselves more than ever after the challenges of this year.

Get in shape (cliche I know)
Go horse trekking more
Buy a house or start the process
Get pregnant 🤰🏼

2021 there’s a lot riding on you 😉

Go swimming 3 times a week and try and lose almost two stone 😊

I think my swimming resolution will end pretty early if they end up putting us into tier 4 at some point though.

Try and conquer my alcoholism once and for all.

It's not as bad as it was some 12 months ago when I made a similar resolution, but it still clings on when I am at my most lowest of ebbs
Have you read Alcohol Explained by William Porter? It’s life-changing.

Mine are pretty much the same!

Lose the pandemic weight.
Improve myself on my new hobby.
Drastically lower my phone screen time.
Work on my posture.
Improve my flexibility - hoping to get my splits this year.
Think of myself more instead of spreading myself thin to make things easier/comfortable/special for those who don't show the same courtesy.

And actually make a plan on how to do these instead of making a list and then forgetting about them.

I haven't read it, but have heard good reviews and comments in the past.

I will see how I get on over the next 3 or 4 months before considering his book. At the moment by simply moving to a warmer climate for a period of time, has certainly helped get over my drink anxieties that have accumulated throughout 2020.

That said, I might buy the book in February as a birthday "treat" to myself

Thank you (y)

Why wait? I listened to the audio book - it was free and not massively long.

This would be a good thread for people to give updates on their resolutions / get some support maybe! I’d be interested in hearing how everyone gets on! I’m starting from today, I’m over 18 stone and need to reign it in now, I get out breath going up the stairs so I just feel like I need to start and get it out the way!!

I agree! Or should we start a weight loss journey thread for those who want to lose weight? There are many of us who are planning to do the same next year from what I see.

I don't know how many people will be willing to participate but I've started a thread for it, for those who want a support group for their weight loss progress.

Enjoy x

I never stick to any that I make but after a rubbish year, what a chance to start a fresh. For me I won't be bringing any negativity or toxic people who bring me down in 2021. Like my obsessive ex who has messed me up mentally, I will continue to just block him, new profiles that arise etc and not rise to what he wants which is to hurt me to gauge a reaction... Going to be hard!! also, going to look after myself better, eat less rubbish, move more... so when we get to Summer i feel confident and comfortable in my own skin :)

I always fail at them so don't really bother but I saw an Instagram post recently that suggested choosing a word that you want to live by in the next year. Mine is 'balance'. :)

For me this applies to having a good work life balance, still enjoy the foods I love without feeling bad but try to be mindful about it and fit in more healthy ingredients too, make sure I'm doing enough of what I enjoy and don't feel obligated to do things that I don't want to do, and try not to sweat the small stuff.

Every other year I've gone into the new year with oh I'm so unhealthy and lazy why can't I commit to stop eating chocolate. It never works with that mindset for me so this is a way to approach it differently.

Something else I saw on Insta that also helps me is to have clear goals to check in with. So for example I want to learn French so I will say maybe by March I want to be able to watch and understand a film in French. Or by December I want to be able to have full conversations in French.

Or for fitness it could be I want to be able to run xkm by April without wanting to die. 😂 I feel like if I leave my goals too vague I just never get anywhere. And if I don't meet them or feel off track I allow myself to adjust without feeling like a failure.

My MAIN new year resolutions this year because my theme for 2025 is 'duck IT' going to live life it's my last (within reason obviosuly!)

-Lose 3-5 stone by excersizing, eatinging with a calorie deficiet.
-Read minium of 12 books by using my library card lol
-Visit 4 counties next year- planning ahead and not getting my anxiety the better of me!

I am writing some 'sub' new year resolutions but those are the three i want to achieve!
