That’s been done before. She’s having twins. The buslings will be knitting booties and jumping up and down shouting “you go girl!” before the day is out.
Have I got this right? They have been together for 12 years, since the OP was 18, but it's her house?

Have the lovely supportive friend relative made an appearance yet?
The one that will cheerlead/attend the date/help pack the boyfriend's possessions into black bin bags and leave them on the doorstep

And lovely friend (LF) will post on Mumsnet when the OP is indisposed - complications with the pregnancy perhaps?

And it will turn out that lovely friend was catfishing OP as the boyfriend so she could steal OPs babies.

Or maybe I've just watched too much Law & Order: SVU.

I have to stay away from them as they make my blood boil. They all follow the exact same template. Unhelpful reply, list of insane names, name with a forced nickname that doesn't even make sense because you can't pre-set a nickname!

OP - which of these do you like out of Anna, Elizabeth, or May?
First reply - none :/
Second reply - what about Ottilie?
Third reply - Henrietta, Dorabella, Audrina
Fourth reply - What about Winifred, nn Nina
The main issue seems to be how she is pronouncing Desiree, who knew there were so many different ways, but the way they spell the pronouncinations out all look and sound the same to me 😂. I'm surprised they all seem to love the name though, thought it would have on a definite chavvy American name list 🤷‍♀️

It's better than the twit of a poster who wants to call her son Woody. Only slightly better than the person who has named her son Woodward.

I swear I'm not making this up/ currently drunk.

To be fair naming babies is bloody hard. MrBasket and I have very different taste in names - he likes plain and a bit retro, whereas I like quite MN style names. Our daughter has a name, but it took us the whole six weeks to reach a consensus, and as a result she's just called Bob by everyone instead.

Bob quite suits her though, and my boys have changed the words to Chuggington to 'Bobbington' which she quite enjoys them singing to her. 🥰

It's the forced nicknames. I love that most people's nicknames have some story behind them, how can you choose a NICKNAME for your child before they're even born?!

I know someone IRL whose son is named Woody. Most of us went "Oh like the cowboy," whereas I instantly thought of erections.

Oh look, more things that never happened.

Isn't this the plot of the Pina Colada song?
And also Kate Bush's "Babushka" except nobody knows that one because you can't make out the actual words 😂

I'm not sure if the thread is real actually, she's being sensible right now. Also this might be the time to confess that I did once speak to my own cheating partner on a dating app and I basically did exactly what she's described - set up a profile using random pics off social media and set out to entrap him. I then came to my senses and ghosted him on the app then like a MUG I hung around for another 6 months before he ran off with someone else 😩

Dèsirèe is French, so right up Mumsnet's alley.

It's an older name than people think - Sweden had a Queen Desiree in the 18th century!

It's a bit like the Tiffany problem - the name Tiffany goes back to the middle ages but writers can't get away with using it in historical fiction because it seems too modern.

Yes, I am a boring b, thanks for asking 😂

I really, really hope that when you say 'Bob' you do an impersonation of Rowan Atkinson saying it in Blackadder.

One of my favourite Wikipedia articles is the Tiffany Problem, where it goes on to list names that are decades or centuries old but we think of as modern. Also I love telling people that there was an Amanda recorded in 1212 in Britain. I just like thinking of parents back then using a name related to the concept of being loved as the name for their precious daughter. I get emotional over stuff like that, kind of like I can't look at any images of cave paintings where people have recorded their handprints without tearing up.

Clearly I need to get a DGRIP!!!
