What the fuck is their obsession with dahl lately? Even the word makes me cringe.

"You could whip up some dahl for pennies"
"I'm just having some dahl for lunch"
*I'm making a lovely dahl for dinner"

Then some poster was complaining about their kids being picky eaters and straight away someone suggested giving them some chicken nuggets and some dahl. FFS.

I hope they all choke on their fucking dahl.

I was upset about my baby son starting nursery so I drank a bottle of wine when he was in bed while weepily watching Lucy Worsley Investigates. DH was in the house, sober, but was doing his hobby (I can’t say because it’s outing but think something with computers, although not porn) I didn’t bother cooking dinner but I did put some Aldi crisps into a bowl.

I am aware I have a huge drink problem to have done this and will be logging it with 101 anonymously so that they can alert the relevant authorities. Presumably I will never be able to drink again, except a thimbleful at Christmas for a toast? Please be kind. I earn good money and am a professional woman, some of my clothes are from Boden.

The bollocks on MN about how you can feed a family for £30 a week or whatever do my fucking nut in. Our groceries are closer to £200 a week for our house, and that’s not being luxurious in any way- feeding a family for 3 meals a day plus snacks, drinks, lunch boxes, cleaning products, pet food, bog roll etc etc it all adds up.
If I said I spent £200 a week on MN I would het my arse handed to me, as they say, and told we could all make rich hearty meals out of a slow cooker, a chicken and a packet of lentils.
It's the whole, "well I only shop in Aldi and only buy reduced stuff while I'm there but I can't imagine eating £200 worth of food a week? Are you overweight? My Husband and I earn 6 figures a year and have 4 teen boys and we spend no more than £20 a week. A pack of lentils can make 56 different meals and I only need to eat once a day"

Right I’ve now seen it all.

The OP is going to complain about her hotel because someone stole her childrens bucket and spade, and the beach was too stoney and the tide was too strong.

View attachment 1326119
I've read all the OP's posts and I'm still none the wiser as to what actually happened. Did other little kids play with her children's stuff and then wander off with it without her stopping them, or did her family just leave their toys in the pool to be 'fished out' and expect to find them in the lost property pile at the end of each day? Also if a bucket is so expensive to buy at a five star resort why not leave the hotel briefly and buy one somewhere cheaper, if it's by the sea surely there's loads of shops around selling that sort of thing? Also why did she keep buying sandcastle buckets anyway if there wasn't any sand??? So many questions!

This response did make me laugh though.

Of course you’re not being unreasonable! Sounds like you have a DH problem, why isn’t he sticking up for you against his mum? Could he be having an affair?
Well I have previously asked him to leave after he went on his annual night out and came home at 9.15pm when he absolutely promised me he would be home BY 9.

Not only did he come home in the middle of the night but he very VERY nearly woke me up, made toast and didn't even bother to put his plate in the dishwasher afterwards. He just loses control on these wild nights and I really can't have that around the new baby.

Unfortunately I haven't worked for 6 years as we were TTC so he pays for everything. As a new mum I obviously won't be able to work for the next 11 years so I will need to get my ducks in a row.

Has anyone seen the one about their daughter being a newly qualified Teacher? She has a teaching job for 3 days a week as they didn't need a full time teacher so her the poster wants her daughter to work full time so thinks she should be doing agency work teaching on her two days off.

Few posters are saying no, its a perfect introduction into teaching and with planning etc, she has time to do it without the pressure which could put her off etc and there was one who says she should make her pay full market price for rent and leave her to do food shopping etc and that will soon push her into working full time or she can choose to move out on 3 days a week and good luck to her.

One poster does say why do people take glee in making their children struggle and the poster replies and says now is not the the time to be worked part time, they need to save to get out of the parents home.

I've got a 14 year old, I've no idea what the future will be for him, but he has a home with us for as long as he wants and he will always be welcome

‘My boyfriend snooped on my phone’ ……’LTB!! He has no right invading your privacy! That would be a dealbreaker for me!!’

’I think my boyfriend is cheating’………….’can you get access to his phone?’

It's Saturday guys! There's a new HUGE SALARY post in trending.
It seems the previously popular six figure salary is for the povs only now.
It's seven and eight figures now dontcha know?
And they all started off in council houses with nothing until they worked so so so so hard *smug emoji*

Oxbridge, waffle waffle, red brick, waffle waffle, hollow legs and low carb bread ahoy :poop:

I have always wanted to start a thread asking how to look working class.
What are the signifiers?

"I was born into wealth in a sprawling 12 bed Cotswold's idyll with grounds, but after working very very hard at Greggs I was eventually awarded a piss stained council bedsit in Leeds. Anyone can do this if they try. You just have to have focus and determination, and a similarly minded spouse. My DH DD exDH DSIL SD SS DSRUGBYLEGS DDOG and our many many DHORSES and DBALLERINAS are also in council housing now. Our neighbours are earning less than us but amuse us with creative gardening techniques such as pilling cars on bricks."

"What do I eat now that I am working class?"
"my DH earns a 2 figure salary, if we split is this still family money?"
"what do WC people call their children?"
"I won't eat Sainsbury's chocolate, it's so UWC"
"My DDOG isn't aggressive enough, can you recommend a more WC breed?"

The hair recommendation pics always look like they pulled them from a teenager's 2003 Tumblr account.

OMG, this comment in AIBU right now, thread titled 'never leaving the country again'

I was a nanny working through the pandemic (while my furloughed avid-Mumsnetter boss sat upstairs ‘resting’)

I told her I desperately needed more printing paper as the kids were getting through reems of the stuff on their schoolwork. I suggested ordering through Amazon but she insisted on driving into work at the crack of dawn, before covid came out for the day presumably, and getting a load from her office.

I went to pick it up when she got back so I could crack on with the day. ‘NOOOO!’ she screeched. ‘It needs to be quarantined!!’

it sat in the outside storage unit for three days before I was allowed to use it 🙄

Ugh, god yes, they are tedious. It's the same old story of two adults two teenagers (strapping, with hollow legs, obvs), a dog, two cats and 43 guinea pigs surviving on £70 per week of food, all in, including lunches and alcohol. It's utter bollocks.

They're just like the "half a toilet roll lasts our household of four nearly a week" brigade. Again: utter bollocks.
Why would you buy alcohol? Do you have a problem with drink? Does DH?

It’s like when a poster comes in and says ‘DH is really letting me down, I’m shattered and doing all the night wakings and all the housework by myself and he spends all his free time at the gym’

and without fail there’ll be a poster that says ‘at least you have a husband. Mine Is DEAD. I had to bring up our baby twins alone. I’d love a husband who was alive enough to go to the gym’
On a similar vein…
