I was banned for speculating about celebrity affairs, didn't just have my post removed but was banned just like that. The mods are ridiculous, power hungry simpletons who probably also run their local parish council meetings in their spare time when not moderating mumsnet. Asking the valid question if they are both saying he didn’t hit her, then who did. Someone jumped on there telling the op it wasn’t “kind” to talk about it and then a few mins later, a mod pops on to say it’s being removed for being “too speculative” ! ffs, katie price literally sold the story two days after the incident to a tabloid, and has done at least one more story on it since then! As well as overseeing every detail of her life generally. Yet we are all meant to sit in silence according to mumsnet and not discuss itwhy a load of grown women (and a few men) continue to let some power hungry uprights control what they discuss is beyond me.
The hobby ALWAYS turns out to be cycling though...My wife has been in mumsnet for years. I was on it for about 6 months. My wife still shows me the craziness regularly.
When I was there I found it to be absolute poison for the most part. Being male, I wasn’t allowed an opinion on anything and was regularly attacked for my gender and their assumptions of my skin colour and sexuality.
I took it as it is largely a female space but after 6 months I started to argue back a bit. Mildly. Very soon there were people trying to get me banned and the occasional admin hinting towards it, so I exited.
Dreadful place, full of very angry and hate filled people.

Mumsnet and “hobbies”. It would always be the word “hobby” and never saying what it actually was. As if a partner playing golf could be “outing”.

That just sounds sensible to me. I think they sometimes go too fast. They have been involved in several accidents and they are on the rise. I have a vague recollection of a film on something like Watchdog or The One Show about them. One person made the point that they are meant to take the place of walking when they are on the pavement, and as these go up to approx 15 miles an hour, or more,, that is not a replication of walking speed. I am amazed there isn’t a test. It is not ableist to point out the dangers of moving vehicles on pavements, be they bikes, electric scooters or mobility scooters.I was called ‘ableist’ for saying that mobility scooters are fucking dangerous when not used properly and that there should be a mandatory test before using them.
And a speed restriction of 6 miles per hour.I once saw a woman on a mobility scooter almost get hit by a bus as she decided to drive across the road at the same time the bus was driving down the road.
I think I remember reading about the man who drove down the dual carriageway too.
I also read about a little girl who got hit by a mobility scooter and the woman just drove off, no apology and didn't check to see if she was ok.
Mobility scooters can be lethal in the wrong hands and I think there needs to be a test before someone can use them.
In Mumsnet land the police would be accused of being ‘ableist’ for that no doubt.I saw an old guy on a mobility scooter earlier today, being escorted by two police cars, because he decided to take it down the duel carriageway! There was a massive queue of rush hour traffic being help up by him.
Mumsnet is a very weird place. There was a thread recently asking what they would do to change the world. A lot of them were saying they would wipe out men and put women in charge.
For a lot of them claiming to be liberal and tolerant - a lot of are the opposite authoritarian and intolerant.
Same with the unpopular opinion threads - they start out ok but then some posters go too far and post truly awful opinions.

Absolutely. I remember a thread where a poster was broody for a second child but her husband had wanted to wait a while until their eldest child started school. She secretly stopped taking the pill, chucking it down the sink and then when she not surprisingly got pregnant immediately realised her selfish act was going to land in her in trouble, panicked and posted on Mumsnet.Imagine a man posting to say he would get rid of all women!! He would be crucified!! What I hate is they think women are saints (unless you are a step mum or mother in law) and men are always at fault. I know plenty of women that are dicks and many of them on there. I've read a few threads recently (no longer post) where the woman has wanted a other baby and the man hasn't and the 'advice' has been to 'accidently' get pregnant, and they've known women who have done it. Such double standards.
