It got a reputation pretty quickly as being a “nest of vipers” and only a thicko would have such lowly aspirations.

So that’s who it attracts nowadays - nasty thickos.

Mumsnet is just awful in so many ways. The dreadful 90s interface, the fact that they tried to charge a premium membership to be able to 'edit' posts (something which is possible here), the fact that you'll be reading a thread and there's tonnes of deleted posts, the ultra competitive soccer mom keyboard warriors. Even if Mumsnet was full of the loveliest, funniest posters known to mankind I wouldn't be able to stick it due to the interface. Time for an update, Justine!

I’ve been using Digital Spy for the last sixteen years or so and they’ve allowed you to edit posts for at least ten of those, completely free of charge I might add. Its laughable that Mumsnet has only just introduced it and expects you to pay for the privilege. They are so useless, incompetent and out of touch.

I know, total and utter greed. Especially when it seems they have a bog basic forum and have invested hardly anything. I've never used Digital Spy but Tattle is unlike any other forum I've ever used. Light years ahead of shamsnet

The layout on Tattle is great. I can't imagine anyone having difficulty using it.

Mumsnet needs a complete overhaul, it's shocking.

Rather than an overhaul it needs to be nuked. But on the other hand I do quite enjoy hearing about some of the idiots on there, makes me feel good about myself

It's also a massive date harvesting site - to turn off all the tracking takes in the region of 85 separate swipes and clicks, as they've deliberately used one that defaults to allowed AND refuse to have a Object/Reject All button. Plus if you do go through those 85 swipes/scrolls and clicks, but check back on the Vendors page before saving, every single one of them resets to Allow.

People who have pointed that out, along with the actual laws are told that IT say it's not possible to do and are then swiftly permabanned.

When I worked at a big ad agency we were scraping mumsnet (amongst other sources) for research purposes and selling it to brands lol.

It’s hypothetically possible with anything on the internet, but the way tattle structures its urls makes it harder to trawl through in the same way. Mumsnet isn’t a forum it’s an advertising opportunity.

Fruit sugars can be as damaging as sweet sugars on the teeth, our dentist has always discouraged eating fruit alone.

Why buy a cake for a child who you won't let eat it?!

The other thing that occured to me is how cruel some kids can be (unknowingly). Who wants to be the kid that other kids talk about "we got cake at Annie's party and she wasn't allowed to eat any and was sat there eating raspberries"

There is no sense of community there, its too serious for me.
It doesn't do much for women really.

It saddens me in some respects because the posts I've seen sound like there are kiddos who desperately need a mum who'll just give them cuddles and time and carbs

When I used to do kids parties for my teenagers, I'd buy vegan/gluten/everything free versions as well as a generic cake because it would crush me having a kid left out due to dietary. The idea of leaving the actual child out is evil and knocks my stomach sick, no need.

It also gets me how many of the literally abandon their children once they turn 18.

They no longer give them money, birthday presents or christmas presents and expect their child to pay half of all household bills including mortgage or rent, pay for their own shopping, do their own cooking, washing and ironing or even better, get them to move out of home on their 18th as they are now all fully functioning adults.

I accidentally hit the laugh reaction on your post, quickly changed it though. Yes it really is awful to other them. And to what end?

I once laugh reacted accidentally on fb trying to heart it, to a friend telling the world she had body dysmorphia. She never accepted it was an accident.

I think MN users are big on competition, be it wealth or misery Olympics, I wonder if the majority are just bored people seeking attention, because wouldn't you have a word with a friend not giving their kid any of their own cake? It's indefensible to do that. Bastards

The postman ringing the doorbell at 7am thread made me laugh. I KNEW it would blow up immediately with them all flexing about how early they get up and how everyone should be up by 3am in order to be a valued member of society. But then whenever someone posts a AIBU to have a lazy duvet day with snacks and movies, they always fall over themselves to say oh yes you MUST. You deserve it, make sure you stay in bed all day!

When I worked in a day centre with LD adults, there was one who couldn’t have gluten/dairy and he nearly always had to miss out on others’ birthdays because hardly anyone could remember or be bothered to bring something he could eat. I used to always look for something for him (usually something in the free from aisle at Tesco) and he was so grateful. I think I became his favourite staff member after that.

I’d do the same for a child too. It’s so mean and cruel.

I saw that thread, tbh I have a bit of a crush on my postman and if he rang the doorbell at 7am getting me out of bed, I would go down as scantily clad as I could get away with

My postman also rings the doorbell between 7 and 7:30, and I’m so happy with that. That means that I have my package before i go to my work

Same, I actually give him a Christmas tip too. Because I appreciate him.

I was banhammered there during the hysteria when one poster decided there HAD to be a Black Mumsnetters section.

Mumsnet seems to me a place where an awful lot of projection of subconscious guilt is going on.

For instance why are people so obsessed with what other people’s’ kids are eating? For a while the food conversations always made me feel bad as I’ve always had a real struggle feeding my son. Things are better but we are still a thousand miles away from carrot sticks and hummus. He lived off cereal at one point which apparently is “shit in a box”. I’m glad to say that having discovered tattle I never go there now.
