I see they've set up a task force in NI too that should be good as our waiting time's 20 years 😂

The conspiracy theorist in me wonders if Putin let it out as its only in the Western countries so far haha

Seriously though from everything I've seen and read so far there doesn't seem to be too much to worry about at this stage. The media are loving it though, they got a taste of constant crisis since brexit and don't want to let it go.

As someone else said, we all seem perfectly comfortable with awfully high numbers of things like heart disease, cancer, obesity etc. But something like this causes panic stations

Not wanting to turn this into a conspiracy thread but my spidey senses are tingling, first hepatitis in children in mainly western countries, now monkeypox in mainly western countries? also a lot of NATO countries and allies of the USA? suspicious

But anyway, lethargy comes over me every time I read about monkeypox…literally cannot take anymore and my brain knows it 😭😴

Now they’re claiming it could turn endemic in Europe 🫤

Why does UK always get so many cases of these viruses and diseases? Covid, we get it bad, monkeypox, we seem to have more cases than most - again!

Time to dust off the DIY hazmat suit! Now with added shinpads and hard-hat for extra assertiveness, a winning edge when going for that last bag of pasta.

Oh great, monkeypox is obviously the latest excuse for the government to terrorise us all. I’m more scared of the government’s actions to “combat” this illness than I am of the illness itself.

We could do with a flipping break, but noooooo.
I do wonder if the news are being over the top reporting it though.

The real conspiracy theorists wouldn't be there fighting for that last bag of pasta. 🥴

You need to have very close contact with someone to get it, so the risk is pretty low.

Yea and even those who do get it it’s a mild illness. If only the media would stop the fear mongering agenda. They get a thrill out of it though don’t they! Soon they’ll be encouraging everyone to get the vaccine! Watch this space 😬

Side by side articles of Monkeypox and the possible 3 week isolation period but bam.. there’s Boris being exposed for more rule breaking - they want to remind everyone that Boris broke the rules the last time. Nobody will listen.

I don’t think we get more cases, but one of the vanishingly few things we do well in the UK is track and report diseases. We probably have no more cases than other countries but we’re just picking them up more efficiently.

As it’s usually more common in africa. The death stats would also reflect those countries where the healthcare may not be on the same level as us.
Would they be better able to cope with it as they're exposed to it more than the EU countries ,would they have a level of immunity ?

Actually I think you’re right. Most doctors wouldn’t really recognize diseases more specific to other countries and super rare in ours. I remember reading an article about one of the MMR ones as - the doc hadn’t seen a single case before so had no clue.
