I think Croydon’s quite a nice and very pricey place now but I might be wrong in thinking back in Kate’s youth it might not have been? Maybe considered a bit “Rough” possibly?
That’s interesting info about Lottie and the school situation, thank you! Well if she paid for it herself, have to commend her. So sounds like Kate supports her parents and brother then, again, nothing wrong with that at all, and anyone would support their parents if they needed it and were in a position to help them. I hope Nick’s food van continues to be successful, very nice sounding guy, married someone “normal” not “showbizzy” and keeps out of the limelight.
My dad came from quite a posh part of Croydon and went to a posh school there too so it’s not all rough
I was quoting Kate herself who would always say “I didn’t want to stay in nasty rough Croydon.”
I would imagine Croydon, like Essex, has its extremely educated and and expensive areas, despite their unfortunate generalised reputations.
I think Kate came from a regular background and went to a regular school.But she was always bunking off by the sounds of it haha! Oh she was wild and crazy and just a total one off. I bumped into her at Winterwonderland around 2018. She shouted "sorry' to my friend for knocking into her. We both died and went running back to try and find her!! Oooh i also saw Helena in New York this October walking her dog by the Hudson river. Tall!! Very slim!! Very straight back. Otherwise just quite normal. She was taking pics on her phone and uploading on Ig.

Yes I vaguely remember an interview from years back where she said she went there, think it’s a fee paying school.
I think she’s had no real support, her Mum sounds like a nightmare, her Dad is, I don’t know what he’s like. I remember articles saying Kate was encouraging her to leave school to model so if that’s true, seems like she wasn’t really guided by the adults in her life. She could have done ok at modelling - she’s a nepo baby with an alright face. She wouldn’t have a career like Kate but she would have made decent money. Now she’s just a bit of a hooker on Only Fans and she’s only 24. So sad.

It's interesting what appeals isn't it? I always found her the least interesting of the supers tbh, along with Karen Mulder. No idea why. They were both stunningly beautiful but just didn't connect.

I think models like Shalom and Erin O‘Connor, like modern day Karlie Kloss, are all 6 feet (2Metres) and over, the IDEAL catwalk height. Makes them very, very striking.
All classic designers like the models to be as thin and tall as poss, they care less about ‘ethereal‘ or ’sexy kitten face’ or anything like that! They want them vaguely symmetrical, bulimic, on a heroin diet, and as tall as you like in your bare stockings!
My source for this is an agent who worked for one of the top ones in London!

The likes for Cindy Crawford leave me cold. But the good thing about the 90s was that there were so many great models, even in the 00s (love the Doll faced models).
Now? Not so much but I guess that’s just how the industry has evolved? I’m curious if there are any models born in the 00s who are super successful that aren’t nepo babies in some form.
I am a bit younger than Kate, and my cousins lived in Croydon when we were kids, and it was the main shopping/ nightlife hub when I was a tee. Then, as now there are rough bits, but it was much better then than now. South Croydon and surrounds are quite middle class- big houses, good schools etc, but again, even the nice areas were nicer then.
Croydon is so close to the heart of london, it must be very expensive now in all of that area!
I remember reading Kate saying she would always have to take the train up to London to her “go sees” by herself and thinking, well, Croydon mustn’t be too far from all the big designers and fashion houses in the capital, if she was allowed to go by herself. (This was shortly after she was discovered at 14 in the 1980s, I think.) I believe. at one point she was living with Corinne Day in Soho not far off that age, god, her parents must have REALLY let her run rampant, whose parents at that age would let their daughter live in the heart of dodgy Soho back then, it was full of prostitutes and sex clubs!
Think I remember reading Rosemary Supermodel (can’t remember her last name) lived with them too. Kate is still friends with all these people all these decades later.
