I hadn’t realised that they had a nanny at all. Her Instagram gives the impression that she’s looking after her daughter 24/7. What on earth does she do which requires childcare. Surely the constant Instagram ads could be created during nap times etc.
It’s actually very time consuming selling your family privacy for insta likes 😂

if they didn't have a nanny no way would they have stayed in such a non child friendly place, it would be too much work

Do you know what as soon as they showed the first pictures I was horrified that they had a room that led directly out to a pool. My first thoughts were omg please keep that door locked. Now of course I realise it didn't matter at all because nanny was there.

We have a nanny and we do take her on holiday with us and to be honest, it’s bloody amazing. We put them to them each night but then she keeps an ear out for them whilst we go out for dinner/sit in the garden and she does all the boring stuff like make their lunch, hang up their wet swim stuff etc whilst we get to play with them in the pool.

In my defense, my husband and I both work long hours in full on jobs so really, really appreciate a break! And the kids love spending quality time with us without us saying stuff like ‘hang on, I just need to tidy up’ or whatever.

I would love a nanny, I wouldn't even get her to look after the kids I'd just ask her to clean my house,😂

Sounds like a well-needed extra pair of hands and using her to support you rather than palm off completely like Millie and Hugo to enable them to achieve better Insta pictures etc.

I don’t think you should feel any need to defend yourself at all. Unfortunately I think it’s just a sign of the huge problem of U.K. working culture and childcare. I feel like people fall into one or two camps:-
- childcare is so expensive so people have to give up their jobs as they won’t actually earn enough to afford it and keep working
- or the only way to stay sane in a high pressure long hours but high paid job is to have a nanny and sometimes multiple nannies !

Definitely agree, no criticism - bloody wish I could afford it!

First time commenting in this thread after lurking for a long time. I agree with others that you don't need to defend yourself. I don't think a lot of people realize or care how hard it is to actually give every area of your life 100%, especially as a parent. But trying is a start and it seems you and your husband give the best you are capable of. I think that you and your husband are probably putting in a lot of work in all areas and need to give yourselves a break. Having additional childcare is nothing new.

But it is interesting in the class aspect. I am not from the UK or even live there but I think the whole nanny and au pair thing can be viewed as a way for some people of the upper class to have bragging rights/ continue to flaunt their access to the best of valued resources and exacerbates social stratification. Especially since the upper classes/those born into these backgrounds have a long history and attitude that raising one's own child simply isn't done or a at least not a full-time job when you can have a governess or nanny or whomever else to do most of the heavy lifting.

It is funny how much more understanding/benefit of the doubt the wealthy (especially those born into it like Millie and Hugo) do get with access to the best of valued resources and opportunitues. People are more willing to look at rich attractive people and say they need the break while with poor people it's just life and suck it up and keep going because you have no choice. A lot of low and middle-income people in my country can barely afford daycare or afterschool care. Covid gave some supports but man were many parents shamed for daring to take the extra help where they could.

I don't think there is anything wrong with having a nanny, if I had children and had the money I would, we had nannies and aupairs growing up as my parents both worked outside of home, albeit not on holiday, but then often our grandparents came so they could help, the issue is that she clearly wanted to pretend she didn't

Millie is doing a day in the life today. I love that she picked a weekend so no mention of the nanny.

Also she must have the most chill baby in the world if Sienna gets plonked back into her cot for ‘quiet time’ for an hour because she’s dropped her morning nap. Sienna only got up for the day at 7am and then at 8:45am she gets left for an hour to read books alone.

I enjoy those day in the life videos. They’re so idealistic though. I thought that too about the morning reading time. Sienna is such an adorable child. I know Millie is not the only one who does it, but I think It’s weird when influencers take semi naked pictures of themselves and put them on a very public Internet forum. She’s in a thong with her bump greased up. Would she not be mortified if her da or whoever saw that 😱

Is this actually possible. I mean really possible?! None of mine could have done this. 5 minutes maybe, 10 minutes on a good day.

Totally agree, yes Millie we know you have an incredible figure - we would too if we had access to your money, nanny, lifestyle and genes. It’s definitely a bit odd to do a day in the life of the family and then sneak in an oh look at me naked photo 🤦🏼‍♀️

She is completely obsessed with herself and her looks though.
