The heats are v mixed bag

Totally agree. I wonder if they choose them to be an even split of good and mediocre or if it’s random? Some of them seem so clueless I wonder how they got accepted at all.

Makes me laugh every time they say of chocolate fondants - 'ooh very risky - so many go wrong on Masterchef' - when I've seen so many being done over the years and never seen one go wrong
I imagine a couple didn't work years ago and it's sort of become MC lore.

I think nearly all the chocolate fondants in the last 4-5 years have worked. I reckon it’s something like the Mandela effect where maybe one didn’t work 10 years ago and now it’s somehow become the Masterchef nemesis

I'm not a fan of Anna and Grace as a presenting duo. I thought Anna was fine when she filled in for Gregg last year, but as a main presenter she is very intense and quite emotional and it's a lot. I've always liked Grace Dent, but she started annoying me as the series progressed as she only ever seemed to repeat the same things over and over: love it/could eat a vat of that/could eat it out of the pot/reminds me of what my gran used to make.

Overall, this series was a bit of a miss for me and I found myself zoning out and skipping segments here and there. I enjoyed the last series, so not really sure what happened: could be that the last series had a vegan cook in the final and as a vegetarian I guess that type of food is more appealing to me.

Also, the pizza challenge in this featured some of the most unappetising pizzas I ever did see. And I love pizza!

It’s hard to call between Brin and Chris! They are both very good!

Brin always pulls it out if the bag. A bit rubbish on restaurant challenges (timings, burning things) but with his own recipes is just amazing.
I still think Chris *just* has the edge.

I don't know why but Grace is getting on my nerves this series. And I really liked her before.
It's the way she goes on and on about loving 'dirty' food eg 'big fat chips' or sticky toffee pudding. I don't know if I entirely believe it.

There seems to be more detail emerging that he said ‘the worst racial slur’ in 2018/19 - to be honest I’d suggest all racial slurs are equal… Richard Osman has said on a podcast that Torode was offered the option of stepping back for a series, going on training and coming back apologetic but he refused saying he wasn’t willing to admit responsibility for something he has no memory of doing - I admire him for standing firm on that.

Given they are so sure it took place perhaps they have a recording of it or more than one witness? It would seem out of character for him from what we witness on TV, but who knows?

Marina also quite blatantly (IMO) dropped a hint that other complaints in the same racial slur ballpark "may" have been made but not upheld.

Maybe that's just my interpretation, but I felt she confirmed that in her tone of voice without explicitly saying it.

I don't know Anna at all - this week when she steps in for Gregg will be the first I've seen of her. I'm fine with Grace Dent as a presenter - she's a regular on Masterchef anyway so will be a familiar face. However, I do seem to remember I gave up on her podcast pretty quickly, although I think that was to do with my lack of interest in the guests she had on rather than anything to do with her.

I liked him and was a bit sorry he went out. Though right decision. The tall guy with the man bun, Robin, was extremely irritating earlier in the week but does seem an amazing cook so grudging respect

I often find a lot of the contestants quite annoying. The fire breather reminded me of an old acquaintance who is a complete narcissist so that may be why I didn’t warm to him.

I like Grace Dent, not a fan of Anna Haugh but her approach on this programme may be different to her time on the Professionals.

What is it you don't like about Anna? Like I said, I don't know her at all, so just curious. Your comment makes me wonder if I'll take an instant dislike to her!
