I’m going to spoiler my thoughts because I know not everyone is able to watch straight away:

I will be hugely surprised if Chariya doesn’t win it. I’m personally not a fan, I find her a bit cocky with faux surprise but when you listen to what she actually says it’s clear she thinks she’s brilliant (which she may be - I’m not tasting her food!)

I liked Jack and was sad to see him go. I thought his dish had more impact than Anurag’s which looked nothing like an optical illusion - it looked like île flottante with a sugar work basket filled chocolates, and a piped rose. I also think his so bad it’s good task was weak - carrot is well trod ground now for use in desserts or carrot cake would not be so prevalent. His Indian food looks sublime but I think he is weak outside of it.

Terri does seem like she’ll be next. She’s the least consistent in terms of those left.

Finally glad that Vanessa and Robin have gone. She was just annoying and he kept minimising mistakes made.

I’m rooting for Omar because I really like his incentives.

This is my first time ever watching it when it's actually on!

Not sure how Steve got through with that coffee flavoured steak that looked absolutely rank! Am rooting for Olivia there's no way I could have cooked that well at 21! (Or now!)

Hope irritates me a little bit like when she said she'd practiced the dish 6 times or something, have a lie down!

I found Anna really irritating when she stood in for Monica on Professionals so, I was really disheartened to hear she had the job for amateur MC. I hoped she might have improved with time but, nope. Still as irritating. It's a shame Matt, who stood in on the last professionals series didn't get the job, I thought he was good.

We've been away, so I'm just catching up with episodes, just watched the mashed potato and flour soup episode :ROFLMAO:
The googly eyes when talking drive me mad! Her eyebrows creep nearly to the top of her scalp! Pain in the arse.

I do tend to get annoyed when someone wins by showing no variety in the food they cook, but it does tend to be when people try and do ‘classic French’ cookery that they trip themselves up.

I have to say I did find Hope’s downfall quite amusing. She’d clearly come with the plan of what she’d make in the invention test and couldn’t deviate from it even when it wasn’t working.
I’m always slightly torn when people stick to one cuisine. I do understand the feedback that they’re not venturing outside of their comfort zone and not demonstrating understanding of different flavours and techniques… but I also see the flipside that if their aim is to have a career in food then they are likely to want to specialise in the cuisine they love most. What I find frustrating is when different criteria are used for the contestants, sometimes they get praised for sticking with what they know and sometimes they get pulled up for it.

I guess my real frustration is that it’s unclear how they’re being evaluated and what makes a winner. As someone who works close to recruitment, it irritates me 😂

I’m a few eps behind but Mary being overly lovey with all her huns and darlings and lovelies to the other contestants is doing my nut in.

Im a sadistic bitch but I was over the moon that Hopes pastry didn't rise and she got booted off. Her face! She really thought she had it in the bag. I also thought Vera was getting a bit cocky as well.
I was also not sad.

But I was shocked that they knew it would be an invention test beforehand. I assume they didn’t know they’d have a full pantry but if they did, that’s not really an invention test is it? Not like the ‘find the weird stuff under the box‘ and cook with it they do on masterchef oz

if they knew they’d have a full pantry that‘s just a memorise a recipe test

I remember this too, now it’s just a pointless step IMO because if they’re crap it has no bearing on their place in the competition. I fast forward the professional kitchen bits.
It actually was better during the pandemic as they had to cut out the professional kitchens bit. Just had more cook offs in the studio which are always far more entertaining.
I don't mind the 'cooking for 400 firemen in half an hour' challenges so much..

Watching last night's I just love Jack. He seems so gentle and relaxed. Also Chariya and the Indian man whose name I have forgotten. They all seem really good.

I'm miffed Jerome got through tbh.
His first round showcasing an unsung hero product was misleading, as he chose chicken breast then used a microscopic portion of chicken. Then his second round for the judges, they all hated both courses.
But the woman from Jordan (Rada?) made no mistakes - they all said it was nice but but a bit underwhelming. And her lamb with pomegranate first round looked amazing.
Very strange decision.

I kind of got bored this last week or so of it. But I think I always find the finals more boring in terms of challenges.

Just looked up the winner and I'm pleased, probably my favourite of them
I don’t find the cooking in restaurants challenges very interesting - Michelin starred or not. I can’t help but feel it’s more about following a recipe and process (and attention to detail) rather than testing creativity, style, innate ability etc.

I'm not fussed either way on Anna, love Grace though. I wish they had kept John on as him and Grace were great together. Fancy going on Masterchef and serving raw chicken and who the very heck puts flour in mashed potato?

Oh dear Terry your chips let you down. Mind you never have I looked at chips and thought ' they could be all the same size'
It looked delicious but I don’t think it had the same ambition or creativity as the others’ dishes
