I’m the same as you to be honest. I still go and see them when i can though. I don’t think i will ever get tired of seeing them liveI'm not a big fan of much of the music after 'know your enemy'...i really struggled to get into any of the songs or albums after that...but i've been listening to The ultra vivid lament a bit lately and i forgot how much i absolutely adore 'Afterending'! It reminds me of Abba crossed with Bowie and it's prob my favourite track out of a lot of their later stuff, that and 30 year war. Thoughts?!
I really want to see them live again!! I've only seen them once....call myself a fan?!!I’m the same as you to be honest. I still go and see them when i can though. I don’t think i will ever get tired of seeing them live
I'm a fan of the early stuff. I was a very impressionable young fan believing all the stories they told in Smash Hits. After THB I felt the music just was missing an edge. I still see them whenever they play Ireland. When I saw them with Suede two years ago Suede blew them out of the water. They'll always be my first love muscially.I'm not a big fan of much of the music after 'know your enemy'...i really struggled to get into any of the songs or albums after that...but i've been listening to The ultra vivid lament a bit lately and i forgot how much i absolutely adore 'Afterending'! Yeah their earlier stuff is definitely my preference! They're basically a different band to me, after THB, but i still loved a lot of their stuff on EMG, TIMTTMY and KYE.I'm a fan of the early stuff. When when it got to Lifeblood, i just totally lost interest musically...they will always be my fave band though..i just pretend the last 9 albums never happened.
I really tried to like itJustice for Futurology! Their last great album.
I prefer their early music up to Everything Must Go, not disrespecting their later stuff as they have some great tunes, just not as impactful as their first few albums.I'm not gonna lie and say I am a huge fan because I'm not but when they brought out A Design For Life, I heard it on a Indie Comp and decided to look into some of their other songs and bought the Everything Must Go album which I listened to for a while then forgot about, until they released If You Tolerate and again I ended up buying the album. I don't listen to them often but if one of their songs is on, then I will put the volume up and sing along.
I didn't really listen to them when Richey was part of the band but I do remember the news when he went missing. For years, I have seen stories about him being spotted here, there and everywhere and back then fair enough, maybe there was a chance. Nowadays though, where you have pictures of famous people picking their backsides, there is no way one of those who claim to have seen him didn't think to take a picture. I honestly think if he was still around, he would have found a way to inform his family somehow so I genuinely think he has passed...whether it was by accident or deliberately though...I'm not sure.
It's the same in the official music video."We don't want your bleeping love" line, edited out for TOTP
