@Chablis1, its strange you talk about freedom of differing views when that's all Amelia tried to do 🤔
Do you two know each other or something? Stop trying to derail the thread (y)

That neighbour statement goes to show they certainly weren't checking the kids every 20 minutes the night before, did they change their schedule because of the crying or did they aim to go every 20 minutes but got sidetracked? I know after a few drinks I'd definitely lose track of time getting chatting.

There are at least a couple of You Tube readers who think exactly that.

I get such an 'off' feeling about the father (not spelling it out in case they come after me!) ... he's so far up in the Freemasons it's not funny; and Kate just seems like a mind-controlled puppet.

Look up the death of Barbara Leyland - "they" definitely got to her, and nothing will change my mind about that.
I agree with you. The father gives off bad vibes.

We do not know each other. 👍🏻

I went down this rabbit hole a while ago. The thing that stuck in my mind was the neighbour hearing a child crying for ages and then it suddenly went silent. Not long after that ‘events’ occurred.

The cadaver dogs findings, or non findings shall I say in this case, are well known to be unreliable. Here’s 2 statements from professional dog handlers to give you a brief insight as to why. Besides, forensic samples were taken from the boot and behind the sofa after the dog’s searches, but tests came back with nothing that they could use to show she had been in those locations. You can’t argue with forensics, it’s the most reliable evidence that police count on above all else. Personally, I’m very confident her disappearance had absolutely nothing to do with her parents (apart from obviously leaving her unattended), but I do appreciate people’s opinions and what gets their interest in the incident. If you do think they were involved, there are many other factors that are more convincing than the cadaver dogs though. I’ve spent countless hours researching this case in the past, as I do with others like Oscar Pistorius. Some cases I’m unsure of ‘who done it’, but with this one, I would bet my life savings it wasn’t the parents. To the posters who claim the parents weren’t sad enough, you clearly haven’t watched all the footage from that time. They were always braking down, especially Kate. Gary even stormed out of an interview once, as the interviewer wanted to waste valuable time pressing them on the accusations the public were making against them rather than actually help find their missing child. The more people that accused the parents, the more people stopped looking for the real monster who took her. It’s always angered me as I think the truth would come out quicker (whether you think that would be them or someone else) if people had the attitude of ‘Lets find Madeline’ instead of ‘What is the point, it was the parents’.
Completely agree with this. If you look at the evidence it’s clear it couldn’t have been the parents.

it’s interesting to listening to the rankings of YouTube loons, but they don’t actually know anything.

and now a man has been named as a prime suspect in her murder and people are still trying to blame the parents

Rantings not rankings

I’m sure I read that when the police investigated the area that they checked all sexual predators in the area !!!!
Im sure they did (although they were incompetent so who knows) but that doesn’t mean anything does it? They can only check the the known sexual predators and “checking” just means asking if they know anything, where they were on the night of disappearance etc. Hardly rules them out

Where have you been this week lol?!
This has been making international headlines and the reason this thread has been started!
Shall we break it to them about Princess Di having been in a car crash, some lunatic crashing an aircraft into a building in New York, and some talk of a contagious virus doing the rounds? 🤪 Sorry to the original poster, no harm meant, but your post was pretty funny.

Haha I'm such a doofus, sorry I read back and noticed 😂 it's been a while since I followed this thread and didn't see an immediate mention on the last page.
I love it when people take things on the chin and don’t get defensive. Don’t apologise for giving us a bit of a chuckle 🥰

I’ve always felt that Gerry came across very badly in interviews and did him and Kate no favours in focussing suspicion on them, however he is a consultant and for me this made me feel a bit differently about why he might have acted the way he did (I.e arrogant, unfeeling twit!)

Gerry works as a Consultant, apparently a bloody successful and well regarded one at that. If you work in medical circles (or a hospital in any capacity) you will be aware that consultants are commonly known to often be massive holes (sorry to any consultants in the room!) 🤷‍♀️ They’re like Demi-gods in hospitals, don’t take to being challenged kindly. Their modus operandi in their job is to come into every situation immediately ready to call the shots and generally take charge of everyone in the room. They literally stalk around hospitals/wards (depending on their area of expertise) making quick-fire critical decisions, and when they say jump, you say how high! You don’t piss them off, and unless you’re 200% sure of your conviction, you certainly don’t bleeping question them. (not to their face anyway-ha!)

I suppose what I’m saying is that for someone like that to be suddenly plunged into a whole heap of new situations in his personal life where he was not only the least knowledgeable in the room (in a professional sense), but with very little control over the situation, then I can see why he constantly reacted badly- it turned everything he knew about how to deal with situations on its head. I think he’s probably a massive fool in real life, but to be such a successful consultant, you kind of have to be in my opinion (certainly true of pretty much every consultant I‘ve ever met lol)- so he would have a very high opinion of himself, be used to being absolutely in control and people always dancing to his tune. From a physiologist point of view, I think it would make for an interesting study and probably provide quite a lot of mitigation for how he was perceived.

In conclusion, I just think he’s a controlling hole of a man, but I don’t think that makes him guilty. I just think his stress reaction was just not what most ‘normal’ people would expect and that he was really bleeping angry a lot of the time. He wanted to find his daughter and his instincts were not to play the teary, pleading Dad- he went into consultant-mode so trying to manage everything and everyone, bossy, domineering and overbearing. To be fair, that approach would have been what worked in his day-job for years so understandable that he would fall back on it.

I am completely on the fence about their involvement; I am swayed all the time and every time I read more information! I guess that’s why a lot of us are fascinated by the case.

If K and G did it or she was killed there in the Algarve, surely a body would have been found? That also makes me think she was taken away somehwere else
Someone saw a man who looked a lot like G carrying a body/toddler down to the beach.

This may have been mentioned earlier but in the documentary it said the kids were in kids clubs all day til 6 and then evidently they were left each night too :( this wasn’t a holiday for the children. I used to go to kids clubs because I chose to but my sister would stay with me parents, they didn’t put us in there all day long and at night we’d go with them. Somebody mentioned earlier people say it’s what they did back then but it was only 2007 I can’t believe this would have been the norm even then. I know you can’t watch your children all the time but this wouldn’t have worked for me. But anyway I hope there’s some closure.
Agree about hoping there's some closure one day. I don’t think it was the norm in 2007 either. I think some parents still did it obviously, just like some parents still use hitting as punishment but the majority don’t, but it wasn’t as common as it was 20 years or so before. I know I was never left like that and I grew up in the 90’s.

Why has op grange and the mccanns ignored an offer to further test the DNA that could put the whole issue to bed?

There is no evidence of an abduction at all in the flat, yet that is the narrative that the mccanns pushed from day one. It is the only objective of OP grange. Why are police not allowed to go back to day dot and follow all leads? No investigator worth their salt can be happy with an investigation that does not 'investigate'

Even a cursory look at the PJ files shows you all the evidence they had pointing to deception by the mccanns. They had phone logs deleted, incoherent and clashing statements, refusal to answer basic questions. I honestly cant fathom how we are expected to believe in an abduction to which there is no evidence , when the PJ never got a chance to follow and bottom out any leads.

I don’t think K+G harmed Maddie but I think I’m mad because they left her and they wouldn’t just publicly acknowledge it, perhaps they did privately to one another, but all they had to say was “we shouldn’t have left her” and then they may not have had the world hating them, perhaps a slight exaggeration to say the world, but lots of folks anyway.

Does anyone remember that Kate offered Shannon Matthews mum £50k to help find her (when we believed an abductor had taken her) which was really good of her but why did they have spare funds from the Maddie fund just lying about?! How unfair is that to all the folks that gave them cash, how many parents of missing kids get all that money and to pay their mortgage?! That’s what angers me, and again they lie about it, they’re aren’t likeable in the slightest.

Also the MC thing bothers me and the majority of folks on here, if you worked in Tesco then SWD would swoop and take Amelia+Shaun (was it Shaun?) right off of them, I’ve no doubt that the SWD probably wanted to visit them when back in the UK but no doubt they were stopped, this is what angers us all, not that we wanted them to lose the twins but just to know that they were checked and that they were aware that they were to NEVER do anything similar again, I’m sure they know this but the fact they wouldn’t accept responsibility on camera is the issue.

I look at a website called ‘the complete mystery of Madeleine McCann‘ and I find it very interesting. Sometimes the theories are really outlandish and don’t ring true (Madeleine is a clone, there’s two of her, she was a part of a medical experiment) but they do make you think in other ways. Like, how there wasn’t much evidence of her being in the room - hairs came back inconclusive, I don’t think there was any drool analysed on her pillowcases, very little in terms of blood apart from some that was found under a tile, oh and they couldn’t find dna on her toothbrush as she shared with Amelie. The most conclusive evidence I’ve seen of Madeleine didn’t come from the room, it came from the hire car. I’ll be very interested to see where this story about the new suspect develops, what evidence they have to convict him because that room isn’t exactly a treasure trove of evidence!

I’m glad to see someone else refer to Madeleine as an IVF baby. I don’t know where I read it initially but I recall hearing that K&G struggled to conceive and she was a much longed for child. I also remember hearing that Madeleine had behavioural problems though; specifically around settling and going to sleep for the night. I have no source for this other then somewhere in the back of my brain - I’m really sorry!

I also find it saddening that they didn’t use the babysitting service. the babysitting service was basically an add on to the crèche service. At the start of the week all the children at the club are assigned a nanny - Madeleine’s was named Cat. The Child would then stay with this nanny during their time at crèche but if the McCanns so wanted to Cat would have babysat for them too, going up and staying in the McCann’s room at night until I think 11:30pm. They put both Maddie and the twins into crèche so often during the day it would have been no great struggle for the children to see that Nanny Cat was going to be babysitting them overnight. Perhaps what was sad about Madeleine having a behavioural issue and struggling to sleep was true - in that they’d rather leave her alone to tire herself out than have somebody Babysit and struggle to settle her (and perhaps have to return to their rooms ‘early’ ie at 11:30. Imagine how different things might have been had they chosen a babysitter...

I’m on the fence. I’ve always believed Kate and Gerry to be involved in some way based on the evidence but equally so I’m happy to shelve that accusation if this new suspect is proven to have killed her. Although, I don’t think the general public will reconcile themselves with it if he was charged. I think a majority made their minds up long ago that the parents had been involved and so that’s how it will remain.

We don’t know that social services didn’t have the twins on their books after the family returned to UK. That information would be confidential.

I hate the term ‘IVF baby’. My son is an ‘IVF baby’ as were all the ones we lost before him. He’s a child, the same as any other and I’m never quite sure why we label them as such. Should we stitch little tags on them like toys with ‘made in china’ but instead ‘made in a lab’?!
Not a dig at you Apple it’s just something that really gets on my bits!

And aw I'm glad. That's my boy ☺Probably shouldn't use a picture of him as my avi on a site like this (although I guess it doesn't make much difference considering he's not here anymore), but it makes me smile when I see it too 💗
I did wonder. What an absolute cutie! Looks so mischievous!
I for one would miss it if you did. ❤

I remember back in the 90s as a child and holidays abroad. We all went out to dinner together, the little ones played together while the adults had drinks, and the younger ones would sleep in their buggies. They would never have left us alone.
Exactly. Maybe the odd parent did it but it certainly wasn’t the norm. I remember when the story first broke and the general public attitude was disgust.

Makes you wonder why they took such good steps at home but were so careless abroad ,you'd think it would be the opposite way around ..
And to barely see your kids at home wouldn’t you have thought holiday time they’d want to spend as much quality time with their children as possible. 🤷‍♀️ Kate says in her book they went to kids club every single day. Every single day. Why bother taking them on holiday? I know some kids love kids club, nothing wrong with that but these were all babies - under three. Surely this time is most precious of all. It just baffles me that the children seemed to be so much of an inconvenience to them whichever way you dress it up.

I hear people say this all the time but it’s completely untrue- in no way shape or form would social services remove children - of any class- for being left alone. Who actually believes this?

whilst I agree that it wasn’t common to go out in the evening and leave your children asleep, many resorts including here in the U.K. offered a listening service whereby staff simply listened out for children crying whilst the parents were having dinner or drinks. Centre parcs, butlins and MW just to Name a few.

So clearly it was common for Some holiday makers To do this.

No no don’t be silly! It’s just something that irrationally annoys me for some reason! It’s a me problem! No need to edit at all!! And I do understand where I think you’re coming from - they waited for a much longed for baby, so you’d think they’d have looked after her a bit better!!
