I'm not having a go at you, so apologies if my post came across that way.

It's just this jump from 'the twins didn't wake up' to 'they were unresponsive' - I imagine the next posts will be 'the children were drugged' with a discussion around what medications, always anecdotally, people have heard of others using to make their children sleep, as this is what usually happens on the thread.
This is a common theme but there's absolutely no evidence that the children were drugged.
There is no evidence because I read on here (no idea if true though) that the McCanns refused to have them tested.

The fact they refused to have the twins tested is not evidence they were drugged, just that they weren't tested 🤷‍♀️.
Something you feel is suspicion is not evidence.

Presumably the parents were offended by the idea the twins may have been drugged (and the implication they may have drugged them) and they refused to have them tested.
I can understand that to a degree - if I knew I hadn't drugged my child then why would I have them tested to appease police who thought I was involved in my child's disappearance, an abductor is not going to drug two children then leave them behind are they?

That's ok Nelly I understand, it's all good 👍
I watched a podcast interview the other day and they said the MO of those that abduct children is always to sedate they rarely do it without A child will scream, try to escape a stranger or resist during so they use something that keeps them just lucid enough throughout 🙁 he also made the suggestion that all three could of been injected by a skilled attacker as a theory in the McCann case.

But also the alleged abductor may have drugged them. Surely you’d want to ensure they hadn’t been?
I get you’re a staunch supporter of them but there is no evidence because they were NOT tested. Had they been tested and they were clear then yes, you could then say 100% that there is no evidence.
Tbh, if it were my child, I’d have done ANYTHING to help the police and that would include testing if they deemed it necessary (even it was only to prove to the police they had not been sedated).

You misunderstand me, I'm not a supporter of the McCanns as they were selfish and neglectful parents in leaving 3x small children - but there's no evidence they drugged the children or had anything to do with MM's disappearance

Google tells me evidence is;
available body of facts or information indicating whether a belief or proposition is true or valid.

Why would an abductor have drugs, use them and then not take the children? Drugs would take at least 20mins to work orally, intravenously is unlikely as it's obviously tricky and you need to come with a shot prepared. Why would an abductor take the time and effort to drug them?

I think the McCanns, particularly Gerry, were unco-operative with police as they were presumed to have had something to do with her disappearance, but that doesn't mean that they are guilty of anything.

I can do anything around my kids sleeping. I regularly vac, hang clothes up etc, tidy their rooms. I've changed bedsheets to Christmas bedsheets for the bloody elf 😂
I'd be interested in what unresponsive means. It's not the same as staying asleep. Did they stir, turn over, open their eyes and close them etc but stayed asleep or were they unresponsive. Language matters in this scenario. I think if they were unresponsive that would have raised alarm (but you never know with this case) but if they just stayed asleep then...
They must have been decent sleepers for K & G to have the confidence to leave them in the first place. I honestly don't put much weight on it.

We know there was no such confidence, as the night before Madeleine’s disappearance the upstairs neighbour Pamela Fenn went on the record to say she heard crying from their apartment for over an hour.

“She also refers to the day of the 1st May 2007, when she was at home alone, at approximately 22.30 she heard a child cry, and that due the tone of the crying seemed to be a young child and not a baby of two years of age or younger. Apart from the crying that continued for approximately one hour and fifteen minutes, and which got louder and more expressive, the child shouted Daddy, Daddy, the witness had no doubt that the noise came from the floor below. At about 23.45, an hour and fifteen minutes after the crying began, she heard the parents arrive, she did not see them, but she heard the patio doors open, she was quite worried as the crying had gone on for more than an hour and had gradually got worse.”

This also means checks were not being done every 20 minutes as the McCanns claimed.

And Kate admitted Madeleine said to her at their last breakfast “Mummy why didn't you come when we were crying last night”

And the twins slept through Maddie crying for over an hour loud enough for it to be heard in another apartment? If that's the case I'm not surprised they slept through all the carry on after Maddie was missing.

No I don't think so.. I think Madeleine referred to the twins crying when she said it to them, iirc.

The image of Kate screaming and banging things is v distressing to think about.

Sleeping babies and toddlers can be extremely unresponsive to noise, light, being carted around from place to place etc etc. I was always amazed at what mine could sleep through. I don’t think that in itself is evidence that they were drugged.

This is the real question:

One would think with Kate's specialism being anaesthetics that they'd be extremely keen to find out if their 2 year olds had been drugged by a stranger, if not insistent on medical care/screening just on the chance.

I think she means that while babies/toddlers sleeping through carnage is not rare (and from an anecdotal perspective, mine slept through some utter chaos sometimes), it’s a red flag that Kate wouldn’t even entertain getting them tested as if there was a chance that they and madeleine had been drugged by an abductor that would have been valuable information for the police and would have been helpful to the investigation. So why didn’t she want them tested? You could theorise that she either had something to hide or she knew that M had not been abducted and was dead so therefore no information could help the police to find her.

I'd be less concerned if they said one twin was wide awake but one barely stirred or the twins were sleepy but clearly absolutely fine throughout, there's always been that implication that both seemed not quite right somehow from the witnesses .

It's a good job that actual evidence is needed to convict people in law, however the court of public opinion is a different matter ....

Interview with CB last friday, there is nothing in this interview that makes me think he is innocent of taking Madeleine. The german public are surely not giving him an easy time.

'As the waiter scurries away with our orders, I lower my voice and remark to the man sitting opposite me: ‘You know I’ve got to ask this – did you abduct and kill Madeleine McCann?’

Brueckner has never publicly addressed the question, not to a journalist or even the police. It is registered with a glancing smile and a deep sigh. Then he sips on his half-litre glass of pilsner, leans forward and, his voice rising above murmured conversations and ambient background music, says with wide-eyed theatricality: ‘No, of course not.’

He gives the impression that he thinks the notion simply absurd. I remind myself of his horrifying record.'

I want to believe it's him too, but we should also remember that proof of innocence is not a thing. No one has to prove they are innocent, it's up to the accuser to prove guilt.
Apologies for being that person. I really don't want to stick up for that vile man.

Sorry to jump randomly into the thread- long time lurker.
My kids are around the same age Maddie would be now, and I remember when they were smaller, 2 or 3 years old, there was a ‘popular’ medication available OTC called Medised. IIRC, it was a children’s paracetamol combined with an antihistamine.
It was used to help with pain but also had a mild sedative effect. I often wondered over the years if this is what the McCanns may have used to help the kids sleep. It was often touted on parenting forums as being good for keeping kids settled on long journeys/ flights.
I don’t think it’s available anymore but most OTC sleeping tablets for adults have the same antihistamine ingredients.

I remember hearing about that medicine in the 80's, people were using it to try to get their children to sleep.
