Not a head at all. My son was in neonatal for 17 weeks (nowhere near here) so it will affect us all in different ways.

The digging up was early on in the police investigation, in July 2018. She was released on bail after that and then rearrested over a year later in 2019.
If I've got this correctly...
In 2016/17 she was placed on admin duty
In 2017 she was suspended from her role
2018 arrested and bailed - house searched
2019 rearrested and bailed
2020 arrested and charged
Whatever they found in the house/garden, if anything, wasn't enough to charge her. However that's not to say they didn't find anything.
I know, it really annoys me...like, why not LL? Why is some innocent cleaner guilty but LL not? Why does someone else have to get the blame? Whatever evidence they have clearly points to LL being the suspect.
Yes she looks angelic, yes she was a nurse and yes friends and family are shocked BUT this doesn't mean that some unsuspecting cleaner is the real culprit.
Personally I would of thought she would be held at Styal womens prison for the duration of the trial. It’s the closest to Manchester Crown Court.
If they really do know her, you'd think they'd know better than to go spouting off like that on FB. It makes you wonder if that’s what they want.
They are seriously misguided if so. Contempt of court is a serious thing and it's not like the trial just won't happen. They just risk it being even more protracted which is awful for everyone involved.
I felt so sad seeing the pictures of her parents in the Daily Rag (Mail) regardless of the outcome, LL is their child and I cannot fathom how devastaing that would to watch their daughter on trial. They are supporting her, and probably know Lucy better than anyone else. I'm so conflicted as I feel terrible for those poor babies who have died but my very first thought was that LL is innocent. I think this is going to be a very emotive and intense trial for absolutely everyone involved.

Obviously none of us know but my first thought was there's no smoke without fire. Her pleading non guilty is interesting though. It could be that she is just deluded/being difficult or it could be that the evidence isn't that strong so it's worth a punt.
As has been mentioned previously, she'll be getting a whole life order most likely if she is found guilty, regardless of her plea.

I really hope this does bring closure to the loved ones who lost the babies. I can't imagine how they must be feeling and having to wait over 5 years since they passed to find out.
Most parents love their children unconditionally. My son is only 5 so I’ve not really had to deal with behaviours I don’t condone. But I think I would still love him even if he did awful things. I think as a parent unless there was history you would just not be able to comprehend that your child would be capable of such things. I just can’t imagine the position of being a parent in that situation at all. I really don’t know how I would cope or what I would think.

No one is ever found innocent in a trial, only not guilty. I expect it would be up to the nursing regulator whether she could work again if she was found not guilty.
If she is innocent I doubt she'd want to go back into a line of work that caused her to go through all of this trauma. I know I wouldn't.
No way in her old role or anything close to it.
She would need to pursue a claim, they wouldn't just hand her money. Ultimately there has been judged to be sufficient evidence to charge her, so unless its found that the evidence is fraudulent (i.e. hospital falsifying records, which is unlikely) she won't be compensated. A not guilty verdict just says there was not enough evidence to prove guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.
In terms of what the police would do - nothing I guess. They won't be able to charge her again unless new evidence comes to light. That's probably another reason for all the delays - they only get one shot really. Especially for a case like this that can't be solved with simple DNA evidence.
Her dad is pretty old isn’t he. Not quite what he had in mind for his retirement years, to be blunt.

If I was on a jury I would wholeheartedly not make my mind up (obviously) until I’d been presented evidence. I promise. And the jury room discussions and all that.
But here, as I’m not on the jury, they obviously have a lot on her. The sheer expense of this trial. And is it surprise that a nurse could be so evil? No, I don’t think so. Evil exists in every known profession. You’ve got bent coppers in every police force no doubt. Previous medical cases like Harold Shipman is said to have offed them as it was easy and oldies would’ve died anyway. A compulsion which then turned lucrative for him, but ultimately started because he just wanted to and found he enjoyed it. So if it does turn out that way, I’m not surprised.
Thoughts to all families involved - can’t imagine losing a baby, and in suspicious for circumstances? Worst nightmare.

Agreed.
We don't have double jeopardy anymore (thank God) and there have been convictions since it was scrapped - most famously Julie Hogg, Stephen Lawrence and The Babes in the Woods murders. But there has to be "new and compelling" evidence and the standard is HIGH, which is good as it means the police can't just say "well, we didn't like that verdict - let's go again and maybe we'll have better luck"
Working solely on the time of her first arrest (July 2018) they (police and the CPS) have had four years to make this case as good as it gets. I would be inclined to say if the jury don't agree and she's found not guilty, these cases are basically over.
The option would then be to look for new cases but again, in four years, surely the police will have done that to make this prosecution the strongest it could be...?
I think 100% a new identity and some plastic surgery would be involved in all honesty.

As a nurse/ midwife until 2017 I'm interested in this. I've also had 2 very premature babies in NICU
