Just a question/suggestion for the running of the thread...Will we be having a new thread opened daily with a link in description for the live reporting, for example Lucy Letby trial day 2..3..etc. I seem to recall this was done for Stars trial.
It wasnt done for stars trial

Neonatal hyperglycemia. Typically affects infants with low birth weights but instead of giving it like you would an adult with a pen you would have a sliding scale where you test sugars regularly and adjust infusion. It’s been a while since I’ve been on nnu so I’ll be a out of date with my knowledge but know enough
Thanks. I’m sure they’ll give more details during the trial but it sounds like some of these babies may have been receiving insulin as part of their treatment then?

I agree. No medical or legal background but it is inconceivable to me in this day and age a.) you’d successfully pull off a scandal like this of this scale and seriousness without someone blabbing, and b.) I know the police don’t always get things right but I don’t believe for a second they haven’t got some solid proof
Exactly there has to be some evidence 😢

The poor parents how can they go through this every day for next 6 months… whatever the outcome they have still lost their child.
I am hoping there is evidence she could be innocent as I don’t want to believe anyone could be so evil.

They will be assisting the defence with this case. Richard Gill has managed to get two convictions quashed of medical murder where shift statistics are used as primary evidence. Poggiali actually worked loads of overtime , so was more present for more deaths as was logical.

Ok so he’s a bit more credible than the Facebook crew who just think it’s a coverup because they hate the police / CPS / hospital / think she doesn’t look like a killer.

The report was only just released two weeks ago and it’s been sent to both prosecution and defence barristers. Could this be part of the legal argument? Could it be classed as new evidence (maybe for the defence?).

WS has some interesting discussion. Richard Gill said in another post that Lucy’s solicitor has said he thinks the prosecution evidence is medically based, not statistically. But he thinkeven medical evidence can be biased.

Considering how many hospital scandals there have been, involving needless deaths due to negligence and incompetence, it’s actually really concerning to hear that the hospital didn’t act until the parents made a fuss. Reminds me of this story: 200 babies and nine mothers died, countless other babies left with disabilities:

My guess that human error is always more likely that faulty machinery.

You know what? I don’t want LL to be guilty. I think that’s true for so many of us. Horrific as it is, it would be easier for this to be yet another hospital-wide scandal rather than the evil behaviour of one nurse.
God u just expect these people know what they’re doing 😔 so very sad

in my area at the moment a 14 year old has been stabbed to death by another 14 year old boy and a 13 year old girl is also still in custody. They are not naming names but everyone knows who it is and there is absolute hell on over it. They probably will be able to live a completely normal life even if they get 10 years because they could easily move away and no one will know them. Wether that is right or not is another story.
Sad story. I am not from this area but about five minutes down the road. The girl went to my child’s school.

This is just mind boggling. It’s hard to think that someone who goes into this profession would do this, it really is and not just once but multiple times, I don’t know, I just don’t want to believe it’s true at all.
Wonder how they died. Could she have administered something and got the wrong quantity.

I don’t think it’s such a terrible thing (people are curious 🤷‍♀️) and as long as no one is prying into the lives of the parents and wider family I don’t see a problem. The names will be released again at some point, presumably?
I just think it's wrong to look for something a judge has said cannot be released etc.

Each to their own but at the moment I think it's disrespectful.
