Oh I see. So that reporter will share with other reporters? With other news articles you would see something like ‘The Mirror reported’ when they lift a news story from another outlet. But this is being presented as from their own reporters.I have mentioned elsewhere I’m part of a TC podcast (hence the interest).
What you have seen is what I see on researching. One paper or reporter and then it’s cascaded. Often with the same basic mistake on a date or something.
I always try and get my hands on the trial transcript or the inevitable appeal to actually get to the real facts.
As an aside. I think I like this judge. They are stopping reporters speculating and putting opinions out as truth. Plus, today asking for an eval on her after her becoming distressed after the trip from Sheffield - well, heading appeal grounds off before they start?
I don’t have an issue on reporting restrictions pre-trial, I would hate for a trial to collapse due to a media circus. I just hope once it gets started we see some normality with the reporting.
Interesting point about the evaluation before they start to avoid grounds for appeal later. I assume given the circumstances it can be done quickly tomorrow and hopefully show she is fit to stand trial.
In June BBC reported she was at HMP Bronzefield in Surrey so unless something changed recently she’s been in a prison. I don’t know what happens or where they move them to for the trial because she wouldn’t be able to commute from Surrey everyday. The person on Facebook just said she came from Sheffield. Is she being held in a remand prison or a secure mental health unit? I only ask because there is no prison in Sheffield, Doncaster would be the closest. But there are secure hospitals for criminals in Sheffield.
