I have mentioned elsewhere I’m part of a TC podcast (hence the interest).

What you have seen is what I see on researching. One paper or reporter and then it’s cascaded. Often with the same basic mistake on a date or something.

I always try and get my hands on the trial transcript or the inevitable appeal to actually get to the real facts.

As an aside. I think I like this judge. They are stopping reporters speculating and putting opinions out as truth. Plus, today asking for an eval on her after her becoming distressed after the trip from Sheffield - well, heading appeal grounds off before they start?
Oh I see. So that reporter will share with other reporters? With other news articles you would see something like ‘The Mirror reported’ when they lift a news story from another outlet. But this is being presented as from their own reporters.
I don’t have an issue on reporting restrictions pre-trial, I would hate for a trial to collapse due to a media circus. I just hope once it gets started we see some normality with the reporting.

Interesting point about the evaluation before they start to avoid grounds for appeal later. I assume given the circumstances it can be done quickly tomorrow and hopefully show she is fit to stand trial.

Is she being held in a remand prison or a secure mental health unit? I only ask because there is no prison in Sheffield, Doncaster would be the closest. But there are secure hospitals for criminals in Sheffield.
In June BBC reported she was at HMP Bronzefield in Surrey so unless something changed recently she’s been in a prison. I don’t know what happens or where they move them to for the trial because she wouldn’t be able to commute from Surrey everyday. The person on Facebook just said she came from Sheffield.

I had the same thought :( I'm guessing they found no bodies or else it would have been reported and she could have been charged with failing to report a death. It's hard to know with this case as so little has been reported.
Well she was released on bail for a year, shortly after her house and garden were searched, so I can't imagine they found enough to instantly charge her.

"Police later questioned Letby about why she had tracked the families of her alleged victims on Facebook.
"Lucy Letby's interest in the families of the children who we say she attacked is another feature of the case which we will see as the evidence emerges," he says.
"We suggest it is an unusual interest and we will see that on occasions she searched in quick succession for several of the families of children's names who appear on this indictment."

That's pretty chilling.

Been following this thread since it was opened and its already approaching the end quickly, it might be worth having a wiki. Over on the nursemum thread we never did one and now it would take too long to go back and list all the important incidents, negligence and facts so it may be worth having a wiki on this thread from the start. If this is going to go on for 6 months, there is going to be a lot of fast moving threads and it will be difficult to keep up.
I agree but I remember seeing a request for a case like this before and I don’t think the mods were too keen. Might have been Archee battersbea?

Or he’s pretending to be someone and copying everything they say online and making it look as though it’s him?
yes WS poster could be a copy but the person on Twitter said the same thing about statistics not being used, and I think the Twitter account is who he says he is, Richard Gill.

What is Web sleuths? Am I missing out?
It’s just another forum. They have LL threads.

Agree that this whole case is extremely odd. I’ve found the lack of press about it quite strange, usually the tabloids would be positively frothing at the mouth to dig their claws into a baby killer but it’s been very chilled out with an article every few months and a very slow process to bring to court.

There’s either a lot more to this story than meets the eye, or a lot less!
Agreed. I do wonder what will come out over time

What kinds of things could be going on in legal arguments at this stage? I’m just thinking generally here as part of the court process. It seems very drawn out whatever is happening. Do the families get to observe this part of court process as I think when I’ve followed other cases, some legal matters during the case are just for judge and legal teams and no jury (not sure about general public/families).

Guilty or innocent the outcome is horrendous. Letby’s life is over either way.

We‘ve seen no evidence yet so I have no opinions to share but I do hope this is based on a huge amount more than circumstantial evidence. Having spent the last 6 months in and out of hospital with a family member - chaotic and disorganised is the way I’d describe it. Individual staff v caring but absolutely no coordination or communication.
Would they be allowed to charge her based on circumstantial?

I get what you mean! 5 boys and 2 girls for the murder charges and 5 boys and 5 girls for attempted murders.
Interestingly, back in 2020 the charge was murder of 5 boys and 3 girls, and attempted murder of 5 boys and 5 girls.

So presumably that means one murder charge has been dropped for lack of evidence?

I can’t find the post because this thread is moving so fast but did someone say she possibly only attacked boys?

I just hope this thread doesn't go the way of the star hobson one. Everyone is entitled to have their opinion just because they don't agree with you doesn't mean they have a low iq or haven't read the evidence as intently as you have. Seen a few snide comments about it even on here be repectiful and if you don't agree you can just scroll on by.

In my opinion they aren't charging you with 8 - 10 counts if they don't have evidence good enough to bring them its high profile they know this they can't be seen to be fucking this up
Yes everyone's entitled to their opinion but when people are rude about it, that's the issue.

I don't think it's right so start saying she should be hung for something she's not been convicted of yet. People on FB say the most disgusting things about something none of us know everything about.

I hope she is guilty the alternative is horrific. She's had these allegations ongoing for years, took multiple times to charge then she's been on remand in prison for 22 months then the case will take another 6 months. Someone being on remand for that long is shocking.
