Worth remembering, too, that some of the allegations against Letby were not proven in court (trial 1). Devastating for the families of the babies affected but a testament to the careful scrutiny of the jury.
I do feel for the jury. They gave up ten months of their life and then carefully weighed up all the evidence. So to have to listen to the same evidence being repackaged to the public at the press conference must have been hard.

Put to one side the dreadful crimes she has been convicted of, how can a nurse who stole confidential patient information and stored it at her home and that of her parents, stalked parents of babies on FB, constantly texted while at work, neglected the care of her allocated baby so she could repeatedly go and gawp at Child C dying in his parents arms, chastised a junior member of staff for shouting for help when a baby deteriorated and who made up a sick story about the aftermath of Child A's death be possibly considered to be exemplary ?

Is that the sort of "exemplary" conduct one would like to see from a nurse or other medical professional who was caring for a member of their family ?

Right im new to the thread dont shoot me. But what I am is a neonatal nurse (working in level 1 + 3 units) one thing i just dont get is this case. It baffles me every turn. From the family and friends pleading innocence and Lucy herself… im so torn. Is it A set up? Like has something happened in the trust snd shes the skapegoat… im so lost and on the fence…
Listen to the podcasts from her cross examination. It’s clear shes lying through her teeth. I think one of the most damming pieces of evidence is the fact she wrote out a draft sympathy card for a baby who was still alive. Another example is her claiming not to know what an air embolism was yet she’d been on a training course that covered air embolisms

Just out of curiosity, what are you all going to do if she is found to be innocent of all charges against her based on new evidence? The medical negligence going on in the NHS is irrefutable, it’s no secret that the NHS is underfunded and the workers are overworked and pushed to their limits. I’ve linked below an article that describes almost exactly the same negligence as was shown in the LL case from a hospital in Shropshire, just an hour away from Chester. I personally have heard no end of stories about medical negligence and tbh just straight up misconduct from my local hospital. Hospitals are rife with it.

So many of you log on here every day to protest her guilt and type paragraphs and paragraphs detailing how disgusting she is and how much you hate her. I just hope that if she is found innocent you will continue to do what you’re doing, but instead be a voice for all of the mothers who have lost their children, for all the babies that have lost their lives, and a voice for all of the overworked and underpaid staff in hospitals that are in desperate need of help.

These types of cases evoke a lot of emotion, I get that but with new evidence coming to light, I cannot understand why very little of you are open minded to the fact. I think that if you were in her position and were imprisoned based on false, fictitious evidence you would like somebody fighting your corner.

Easy there cowboy, I wanna know who poisoned babies F and L before we let anybody out of prison…

Someone said on Mumsnet that ‘when’ she is freed there should be a bronze statue of LL in the foyer of every hospital in all the land to remind us of the gross miscarriage of justice.

I mean how the Christ do you reason with imbeciles like that.
It’ll be a cold day in hell before that happens. They’re all fucking barking.

I really hope the parents explore every legal avenue they have to make all these fuckers pay for the shit they are putting them through. I have the utmost respect for all the parents but there are one or two mums in particular that I think will have their balls for earrings 🙏❤

It does make me feel better to hear that the “protestors” were met with anger - shows the bullshit PR stunts aren’t working

To be clear, the prosecution’s expert witness volunteered under cross examination that clotting is a risk associated with having the line in with no infusion. This is perfectly true and not in the least controversial. The jury still finding her guilty doesn’t invalidate that fact, however they chose to believe the air embolism theory. I offered up this point in the context of the video, which presents a somewhat creative interpretation of the available information.
There was evidence for the air embolism, air was seen on the X Ray. Globules of air could be seen on postmortem in the baby's brain. There was no evidence of a blood clot causing death.

That is a great article by Alison Phillips and I think she is spot on that there would be less support for Letby if the babies and parents were not anonymous (though I completely get why they are).

I've mentioned a couple of times about having a respected friend who believes she is innocent and posts about it on social media. I ignored and ignored his posts UNTIL he publicly wished Letby a happy birthday. That just felt utterly disrespectful to the babies and their grieving families.

I believe in freedom of speech but think ANYTHING written about her should be done in a way that is respectful and sensitive to the babies and their families. Even if people don't believe she murdered them, they still died and their families are still grieving. Her supporters need to remember that and show some compassion, sensitivity and respect.

What I'm finding particularly despicable is that real children's medical information ( which would normally have been kept private) is being manipulated and falsified to try and drum up public support for freeing their attacker. If you think of any well known child crime victims, (whose photographs have been shown in the media) this would just not be tolerated!

Im pleased the consultants are not facing criminal charges. They were in an impossible position.

Them stating issues with disclosure is making me a little bit nervous as if that is correct, that will be a legal technicality which could possibly mean due process wasn’t followed correctly.

The only thing that is grounding me a little bit is BM experience and reputation. If there were disclosure issues at the first trial then that would have been in the first appeal and I can’t imagine BM missing any disclosure issues during the entire 10 month trial and an appeal. But this does make me twitch a bit I won’t lie.
It makes me a little nervous too because we don’t know what the detail is for the non-disclosures they are referring to.

These are my thoughts though…

Pretty sure this is the Jane Hutton/Statistician issue I think has been known very early on (she was on the Mail podcast Sept 2024) yet has never been seen in any permissions to appeal hearing so I presume Myers felt it wasn’t a relevant non-disclosure. Or it was actually disclosed. The only people saying it wasn’t are those that wouldn’t actually know. Myers is not speaking publicly on this.

CPS i believe confirmed they didn’t have to disclose the latest report from Evans.

—————

IMG_4773.jpeg

This is very vague especially when considering the details in their other points. Makes me think the content was not relevant.

————

IMG_4774.jpeg

This is clearly referring to the Dr B claim. I’m not sure this is relevant though as the coroner was missing all sorts of information. The expert in the trial did have all the information so I don’t think this point will be relevant

————-

IMG_4775.jpeg

This is really vague again. Do they mean criminal investigation or the hospital investigation before the police were involved?

————

And remember McDick will try anything, so I’m just hoping the other ones are much of the same. I really don’t think the police / CPS would have deliberately withheld anything relevant and the scale of the investigation makes me think they would have been really careful about stuff like this. However I guess human error can occur but it still boils down to how relevant the information is that’s not been disclosed.

Write up by one of the truthers who attended the protest on Monday. They recount how they got roughed up by angry, pissed scousers in weatherspoons 😂

It doesn’t really make sense to have a death described as both murder and manslaughter.

That’s because you’re thick.

IMG_4770.jpeg

🤣🤣🤣 their favourite murderer is in prison with 15 WLO and they can only manage an hour in her name before heading to the pub

and is this who I think it is? 🍷

Great to hear lots of the public shouted at them.

Announcing her decision to proceed with her inquiry as planned, Lady Justice Thirlwall said: "It is not the actions of Lucy Letby that I am scrutinising, it is the actions of all those who were in the hospital... and what they did at the time, in the light of what they knew at the time and in the light of what they should have known at the time.

"There are already large numbers of concessions about what was not done and what should have been done. Those significant concessions come from the organisations and the hospital including the doctors and the managers.

"Perhaps principle, and most obvious among the concessions made by just about everyone is the acknowledgement that there was a total failure of safeguarding at every level, and that will not change.

"It is a matter which has been debated at some length in the course of the inquiry and one that it seems to me will inevitably feature in any report."

No, it's not a set up and she's not a scapegoat. She's a murderer. I don't think harbouring a serial killer is a good look for an NHS trust so not sure why they would have chosen this route to cover anything up. 🤷🏽‍♀️ Also not sure who is meant to have scapegoated her seeing as management actively protected her at every step. Hope this helps you get off the fence.

Yeah I was thinking surely she would waiver privilege if its her only chance of appeal? Surely she would do anything?

It’s not a game of top trumps is it though. For me it’s a matter of what is the actual truth, because that affects all of us. I am completely neutral on LL, I don’t feel in any way emotionally attached to either guilt or innocence, I think if she’s guilty she should rot in jail, then hell, and that if she’s innocent she should get justice. At the moment there are valid questions being asked by some serious people, and it feels reasonable to remain open to possibilities rather than uncritically swallow poor quality content designed to shut down any discussion. Your post is a good example.
Tell that to all those running with the press conference narrative that these new experts know best (despite their claims going completely unchallenged) and continually trying to discredit the prosecution main expert because this supposed new expert panel is meant to be “better than a retired paediatrician”. Whilst ignoring all the other experts at the trial. The point is, the new panel are not bringing anything new, just as your own post demonstrates - that Evans already raised something at trial that Lee was putting across.
