The publicity stunts are harmful and upsetting to the families because they are not required. They don’t change the legal routes that are open to Letby. It’s performative and political but what does it achieve? The Double Jeopardy podcast said they would expect the CCRC to take this new panel evidence very seriously - well, I would actually expect them to take any application by anyone very seriously. Same for the CoA. Not just Letby.
I think it quite likely that even in their current beleaguered state the CCRC will not refer Letby to the Appeal court. If they did refer it would be a green light for others convicted to refer to the CCRC without genuinely fresh evidence simply as a vehicle for "another go" once other avenues are exhausted

Loads of witness statements have been uploaded to the Thirlwall Inquiry website. Dr Soni's and her police statements are worth a read.....
I’ve seen the police statements now and it makes me wonder if they are no longer pursuing incidents around those babies 🤔 if they were, would they have been allowed to publish them?

I wouldn’t have thought they would be allowed no if there were charges pending. This could be why these statements have been held back until now, however I could be wrong.
I haven’t checked but have the individual statements from that dr been added or just that one you’ve screen shotted?

I am confused about these statements. Is it the ones from other Hummingbird investigations?

Who is Dr Sani?

Ailsa Simpson, a shift leader. I get the impression she believes the verdicts.

She worked at COCH for six months and was involved in the care of some babies who had hypoglycaemic episodes but not ones on the indictment.

Just screen shot this exact bit to share too! Definitely the actions of a diligent nurse that was concerned about all the awful events she’d been unluckily involved in! Extra cautious 😵💫
This is what she said during the trial.

It was during evidence for baby D but she doesn’t remember which baby it was or the date. Strangely though when asked for the inquiry whether she had any concerns about Letby’s conduct she said no. Which kind of shows how difficult it is to make that jump from odd - at all deaths - deliberate harm.

She said they were feeding infants in opposite corners of the room when an alarm monitor sounded at the cot where Letby was.

Giving evidence from behind a screen on Monday, Miss Walker said the alarm indicated oxygen levels had fallen.

Prosecutor Philip Astbury said: “Why ask for help?”

Miss Walker said: “Because the baby was not picking up.”

She said a doctor also came into the room but agreed the oxygen levels had increased by that point and later left.

Miss Walker said: “Then Lucy said to me, ‘Why did you shout for help?'”

Mr Astbury asked: “In what way?”

Miss Walker replied: “Quite firmly.”

Mr Astbury asked: “How did you feel about that?”

Miss Walker said: “Shocked because you can’t have enough help in that situation.”

Mr Astbury said: “Did you explain to her why you asked for help?”

Miss Walker replied: “I don’t think I did.”

Mr Astbury went on: “Why not?”

The witness said: “Because you trust colleagues, don’t you?”

Mr Astbury said: “How did you feel?”

Miss Walker said: “Quite taken aback and shocked because it’s something you would not expect a nurse to say.”

Letby stopped the feed through a breathing tube, commenced “gentle stimulation” of the baby and, when that did not work, she gave oxygen via a facial mask, Miss Walker said.

She said the baby did not respond to the oxygen at first and she shouted for help as a nurse walked past the door.
Mr Astbury said: “Why has it stuck in your memory?”

The witness said: “It’s because I was told off for shouting for help.”

Cross Examination
Miss Walker agreed with Ben Myers, KC, defending, that she could not remember the date of the incident, or the name and sex of the baby involved.

Mr Myers said: “You didn’t see anything regarding Miss Letby’s actions towards the baby which caused you any concern at all?”

“No,” said Miss Walker.

She told Mr Myers she did not get the impression that Letby asked the question because she felt help was unnecessary in the situation.

Oh, so the trust were happy to investigate another nurse for unprofessional behaviour. But not a nurse where consultants were concerned about associations with deaths 🙄

This is Jean Peers, a nursery nurse. She’s the one that said about Letby hating them at the tea party.

Letby seemed to look down her noses at those in roles below her and had zero respect for those above her.

Dr. Harkness’s statement is very harrowing because he was left so distraught by the deaths he was involved in. I’m so pleased he’s going on to have a brilliant career.

Hope this works.. incredible stuff from Deb. Well worth a read.
Excellent.

I find the PR tactics abhorrent but they are also a gift for the prosecution. The more they talk the more they expose themselves.

My mind is blown though at how far a man is prepared to allow his ego to take him. I’m sure his times interview said he had never been involved in legal work before and it’s showing.
