What changed her mind?
The trial.

Edited to expand a bit, she was actually horrified as the trial went on but the bit that really changed her mind was baby K, even though that baby no verdict was reached during the first trial.

I’m not 100% convinced of her guilt and I completely accept that some of that is because I don’t want it to be true that someone would do something like that. It’s a very complicated case and there are a whole bunch of things which suggest her guilt but no ‘smoking gun’ and a whole bunch of things which most doctors, nurses or researchers will never come across.

She could just be completely unlucky - a crap, manipulative, oddball nurse whose career simply happened to coincide with a whole bunch of difficult to explain medical incidents.

I don’t see how she could have been a scapegoat though- from the enquiry, if the doctors hadn’t raised concerns it doesn’t seem like the management ever would have.

What is the insulin if not a smoking gun? Tbh I think there are several indisputable moments, such as baby E, the non spontaneous bleeding from throats of multiple babies…just the patterns and similarities are also what builds a totally solid wall of guilt. There is nothing new in the latest (PR spun) claims. It’s not going anywhere. It’s just disgusting noise. Shameful.

I have though. That she was ultimately blamed for systematic failings, poor medical care, poor staffing, poor training and supervision.
People on here don't see that and that's fine.
Blamed by who though? This is what I don't understand because it clearly wasn't the consultants or the management team.

Some of those things allowed her to literally get away with murder. The unit was badly staffed so they really needed her. There was poor supervision so she could do what she liked. She was able to befriend people in power and manipulate. That's why she stayed at the coch instead of going to a level 3 NNU, which would have had more medical emergencies.

Isn’t it strange how desperate Letby was to stay there with all the bullying, all that death, all those doctors killing babies! Yet her whole life revolved around that hellish unit apparently! Funny how almost every single junior doc that spoke at the inquiry or gave statements said that CoCH was known for being a fantastic and supportive placement. Strange that Letby’s horrendous colleagues that fitted her up are all still having incredible careers, going on to be advanced practitioners and junior docs going on to be consultants.

She has been convicted of murdering those poor babies when their deaths may have been due to poor medical care, poor nursing care, professionals working outside their scope of practice. So she was blamed yes, Found responsible and put away for life. Which is where she will likely remain.
Again, like I have said so many times I'm not convinced she's innocent but I'm not 100% convinced she's guilty.

Thank you.
The 25 weeker should have been stabilised and transfered out.
Babies A, C, E, O and P would not be treated in a level 1 and needed transferring.
The twins should have been born and cared for in a tertiary centre too.

It's not even like she's been jailed for one death though..... Multiple murders. Multiple attempted. How unlucky she is to be jailed for all of them....

Plus the retrial where also found guilty. Plus the appeal attempts.

Two separate juries were sure she was guilty on most counts. They heard far more evidence than any of us. Why is that not enough for you to believe it?
