Judge denies he was asked to advise Letby hospital because he is a Freemason
Judge Simon Medland KC and the Countess of Chester’s former director of corporate and legal services, Stephen Cross, are members of the organisation.www.standard.co.uk
Yeah right. They may not be close friends but they could be acquaintances, or just friends. He's lying
I’m really keen to read the transcript for this bit because his words in that article seem very carefully worded! From what I understand it wouldn’t matter if they didn’t know each other well or weren’t from the same lodge.Yeah right. Not a board member Stephen Cross was a copper amd we heard that he was demoted from CI to PC which suggests he wasn't a freemason. Not aware of anyone else on the Hopsital board who is a freemason. Ok but what about Letby’s dad?
Stephen Cross definitely was as he was director for various Chester Freemasons organisations. I don’t know if they have gotten to the bottom of why he was demoted, but there seems to be some suggestion he was promoted through the ranks at COCH quickly due to being a Freemason. Not a board member Stephen Cross was a copper amd we heard that he was demoted from CI to PC which suggests he wasn't a freemason.
They have added more evidence to the Thirlwall website about SC and SM reluctance to call in the police.
No mention whatsoever at this time that they are both masons. This was Ms Langdale KC, before Mr Baker. He never mentions them being Freemasons.

Just when I thought I couldn't admire the consultants any more than I do.....those brave tenacious guys!Oh Lordy. I’m just reading transcript for Lyn Simpson, from NHS improvement (today).
I think I just assumed Tony Chambers did a runner when he left COCH. Maybe that’s just my lack of understanding how NHS works.
But it turns out Sir Duncan Nichol contacted NHS improvement because the paediatricians were going to do a vote of no confidence in Tony Chambers. And he wanted Tony to be moved on. Lyn basically told Sir Duncan to prevent the paediatricians from doing the vote (she says because it would cause patients anxiety).
Essentially it looks entirely like damage control for the nhs. Keep TC in a job. She knew ‘loosely’ there was a police investigation in neonatal unit but didn’t make the connection that the paediatricians vote of no confidence was related. Give me a break. She’s really senior so had autonomy to ask questions and decide if this was appropriate. But her focus was to prevent the vote, move TC.
She wrote ‘prevent’ more than once in her notes at the time and she’s backtracking saying she didn’t mean that.

And they continue to debate the meaning of the word ‘prevent’ vs ‘stop’

The hospital bosses still refused to give them a voice even once the police validated their concerns and proceeded with an investigation. I would have felt really frustrated for TC to disappear just as we were about to vote no confidence in him. I wonder if Dr J and Dr B mention this vote in evidence as today is the first I’ve heard of it. I really must try and read it all.Just when I thought I couldn't admire the consultants any more than I do.....those brave tenacious guys!
