Not aware of anyone else on the Hopsital board who is a freemason. Ok but what about Letby’s dad?

Yeah right. They may not be close friends but they could be acquaintances, or just friends. He's lying
I’m really keen to read the transcript for this bit because his words in that article seem very carefully worded! From what I understand it wouldn’t matter if they didn’t know each other well or weren’t from the same lodge.

Not a board member Stephen Cross was a copper amd we heard that he was demoted from CI to PC which suggests he wasn't a freemason.

Stephen Cross definitely was as he was director for various Chester Freemasons organisations. I don’t know if they have gotten to the bottom of why he was demoted, but there seems to be some suggestion he was promoted through the ranks at COCH quickly due to being a Freemason.

It’s all very bizarre isn’t it!

This was Ms Langdale KC, before Mr Baker. He never mentions them being Freemasons.

Corinne makes the point, that by not taking babies who are below 32 weeks, this will cause the mortality to drop. However baby A was only days off 32 weeks and stable, baby D was a term baby who was not desperately ill, baby I was several weeks old (and over 34 weeks corrected gestational age when she died), and both triplets were 33 weeks. Also one of the non indictment babies that died was a term baby. So it wasn't that they were dying due to complications of extreme prematurity.

No mention whatsoever at this time that they are both masons.

Now we know they knew each other, one had visited the others masonic lodge where the other was in attendance and that Medland was called directly by Cross, which was unusual as there would usually be a letter sent via solicitor. So there was no paper trail of this instruction.

Oh Lordy. I’m just reading transcript for Lyn Simpson, from NHS improvement (today).

I think I just assumed Tony Chambers did a runner when he left COCH. Maybe that’s just my lack of understanding how NHS works.

But it turns out Sir Duncan Nichol contacted NHS improvement because the paediatricians were going to do a vote of no confidence in Tony Chambers. And he wanted Tony to be moved on. Lyn basically told Sir Duncan to prevent the paediatricians from doing the vote (she says because it would cause patients anxiety 🙄).

Essentially it looks entirely like damage control for the nhs. Keep TC in a job. She knew ‘loosely’ there was a police investigation in neonatal unit but didn’t make the connection that the paediatricians vote of no confidence was related. Give me a break. She’s really senior so had autonomy to ask questions and decide if this was appropriate. But her focus was to prevent the vote, move TC.

She wrote ‘prevent’ more than once in her notes at the time and she’s backtracking saying she didn’t mean that.

And they continue to debate the meaning of the word ‘prevent’ vs ‘stop’ 🤦🏼‍♀️

I don’t know how the parents can sit through this. So many senior managers being pedantic, absolving themselves of any responsibility for their own part in the entire duck up. Talking themselves in ridiculous circles to try and justify their poor decisions. The KCs are doing such an amazing job.

Oh and the best part is, if TC had gone ahead with the offer of moving to a different trust (he found something else although not clear who funded it), it would still have been paid for out of COCH funds. Cumbria would have benefited from a ‘free’ CEO.

I’m sure the lovely residents of Chester and surrounding areas will be pleased about that. It angers me that I bet lots of nhs money is wasted on tit like this up and down the country. They just want to sweep these things under the carpet. There was no scrutiny over whether TC should have even remained in employment.

The hospital bosses still refused to give them a voice even once the police validated their concerns and proceeded with an investigation. I would have felt really frustrated for TC to disappear just as we were about to vote no confidence in him. I wonder if Dr J and Dr B mention this vote in evidence as today is the first I’ve heard of it. I really must try and read it all.
