yeah "I generally thought that the unit was being run poorly" is quite a generalisation: I'm hoping the transcripts show that she was asked to explain this.

Steve Brearley was one of the main people who actually recognised that Lucy was a murderer and needed to be removed. Wonder what he'll say about Karen Rees? " I was absolutely terrified another baby would be attacked if Lucy returned but Karen Rees was cross I rang her at home and didn't like my tone".

I could never imagine centring my whole life to the point where it’s impacting my mental health because I want a convicted child murderer to be free 🫠🫠🫠
Fair enough if you wanna believe that she hasn’t done it - I don’t understand personally how you can think that but fair enough but to be committing on a fb group stuff like that is genuine insanity

Well I’m only on page 6 and it feels like they’re going in very hard straight away! Love to see it! The break has done them some good 😅

Protected payments just means she would have been paid her nursing salary even though doing a lower grade office job in the risk and safety office. She would still have had a band 5 salary to do what was probably a band 3 or 4 job.

I'm not sure when she stopped working there, I thought she was sacked after her first arrest, not sure, but she would probably have had protected pay until she was sacked?

her first arrest was July 2018 but I have July 2017 in my head for something, like it was when she was suspended but I can’t remember for sure or find it anywhere 🤔 but maybe she did work in the risk dept until July 2018.

I wonder when she was officially sacked. Maybe not until she was charged as I’ve learnt through the Huw Edwards how it’s hard for employers to sack you just for being arrested!!

Letby is not likely to see the outside of her cell for many years. I don’t think the Scots have to worry about her migrating to the Highlands
any time soon - or ever 😂

Her house in Chester was sold in December 2019 and she may have moved to her parents house in Hereford a while before it was sold so she mustn't have been working at the Chester hospital by then.

I think that the unit and indeed the entire hopsital was very poorly run. That is why a serial killer was able to operate for so long.

Btw: Isn't this the witch who is ultimately responsible for how poorly it was run?
Yeah I thought so.

At last someone in a managerial position showing some genuine remorse - and also that it was more than just the consultants who had worries.

'My recollection is the consultants had done a staffing review themselves and come up with the name Letby so we were tasked to go back and go through that, which is what myself and Julie Fogarty (head of midwifery) did,' she said.
'We came to a similar (finding) to the doctors, that she (Letby) was 80 per cent more likely to be on duty either during or before a baby collapsed.'
Ms Williams said she was so alarmed by the findings that she immediately reported them to the hospital's medical director, Ian Harvey, and the director of human resources, Sue Hodkinson.
She also spoke to Alison Kelly, the director of nursing, 'a number of times' about calling in police.
She revealed she had previous experience, in another job, of police being contacted amid suspicions that a staff member was tampering with equipment in a high dependency unit, and because of this she became 'uncomfortable' with the decision of senior managers at the Countess not to call officers in to investigate.
She added: 'I did tell them, I spoke to Alison Kelly on a number of occasions and I remember with Karen Rees (director of nursing for urgent care) in my office saying we need to go to the police, and she (Alison Kelly) said I've taken advice and that was it, she wouldn't listen.

Richard Baker KC, who represents the parents of Baby C, said: 'You knew there was real suspicion that a nurse had murdered their baby and that your own view was the police should be called. It's misleading isn't it not to keep parents informed if that's a real concern.'
'Yes,' Ms Williams replied. 'We were told what we could or couldn't say…because the inquiry hadn't completed yet, the executive team were still of the opinion there wasn't foul play.'
Mr Baker went on: 'You must have had a sense of being part of a cover up.'
She replied: 'I was uncomfortable with the whole thing, that's why I kept going back to why don't they bring the police in.'
