The stats stuff doesn't help Lucy on any of the charges. That's why Ben Myers didn't use it. All the stats say is she was the only one who could have done it.
Oh 100% it doesn’t, what I meant was their argument seems to be about the shift rota but they can’t really use that as “new evidence” in the appeal for baby K can they? Because all the rota will show is that she was there and they’re not looking at any of the other charges within this trial/appeal so the “stats of the rota pattern” that they argue was so wrongly used wouldn’t even feature in this charge would it? As it’s 1 baby. I hope you know what I mean as what I’ve written makes total sense in my head I just don’t think I’m explaining it well 🤣🤣

I am curious as to what grounds the appeal will be on.

Maybe he tried to get Dr J removed as a witness, a bit like he tried to do with Dewi Evans? So might be appealing the judges decision not to.

Looking at what we've heard from the trial's closing speeches and summaries I'm guessing it will include too much emphasis being placed on the previous convictions and also Dr J's evidence.

"3:33pm

Mr Myers says if Letby was not convicted of the cases, "would we be here now?". He adds they would not be.

He says whatever Letby has been convicted of, the jury must be sure of Dr Jayaram's evidence, which he says is "unbelievable".

He adds the jury have "very good reason" "not to be sure", and asks the jurors to give a verdict of 'not guilty'."

As others have said, with the CPS being so strict as to what they will agree to take to trial then everyone involved must have been adamant she should be convicted over baby K. I suppose they are trying to discredit Dr. J and saying as the original convictions are based on badly presented sTaTiStIcS then they shouldn’t have been mentioned in the retrial. Bunch of self-serving wankers what they are.

The original trial had twenty two charges involving seventeen babies. Baby K case was never suppose to stand alone. It would have been up to the jury wheter they felt Dr Jayaram was a reliable witness.

The statistics are only relevant to the defence if there are other incidents of harm which Lucy wasn't there for. If there was no evidence of deliberate harm then the staticians could argue it was down to bad luck but there was obviously someone attacking the babies.

Lol, just found out I got blocked by an account on X for merely pointing out (politely) that anyone who believes Letby was convicted due to the nursing roster chart either haven't read all the evidence, are ignoring it, or don't understand it. Never been blocked by anyone before!

Cannot wait for her next failed appeal.

She blocks everyone who thinks Letby is guilty since the New Yorker article. She saw her chance and ran with it.

Wouldn't the salsa dancing, handover sheet stealing supernurse herself have been aware of faulty equipment, and have cited it in court if it was helpful to her case ?

Quick update, Letby mentioned it to the jury on her first day on the stand (2nd May 2023).... Knapton's inability to conduct basic research is pathetic
It’s very likely this was covered further actually in the court room and just wasn’t in the full write up. Why are these people so arrogant that they think they know more when they weren’t there and at the very least, haven’t bothered to read anything

Most of the " bombshells" being reported in the media, were covered at the trial. Like the air embolism rash being rare and the additional insulin test that wasn't done. This was all explained to the original jury.

I don't want to speak out of turn but during the trial there was a woman who spoke at length about how Lucy Letby had performed, what she said were a massive amount of unnecessary heel pricks on her baby. She felt that there was something not right with this. I can't remember where it was. I think it was on a private FB discussion group during the trial. This was a random woman who said her baby was treated by Letby

I remember reading about this, I think it was definitely on a FB discussion group.
