I don't want to speak out of turn but during the trial there was a woman who spoke at length about how Lucy Letby had performed, what she said were a massive amount of unnecessary heel pricks on her baby. She felt that there was something not right with this. I can't remember where it was. I think it was on a private FB discussion group during the trial. This was a random woman who said her baby was treated by Letby
Correct, blue in these screenshots is the mother of a baby who she alleges that Letby gave many unnecessary heel pricks to. (Red is a former neonatal nurse IIRC):

Dr Jane Hutton was the one that embarrassed herself on the podcast? The one that knew very little about the actual babies. The main point is there was evidence of deliberate harm not just a random cluster of explainable natural deaths. That's the whole point that the statisticians don't get.
Thatt's one thing I learned, doing my Psychology degrees. The ones (professors, even) in the dept. who were hardline on stats were the ones most likely to ignore other forms of useful data, not to mention the bleeding obvious, sometimes. Also, I know I'm preaching to the converted on here, but you can do all kinds of jiggery-pokery with stats to make them tell you what you want to see. And THESE people denigrate others for 'confirmation bias'!

Sarah Knapton scraping the bottom of the barrel again

It's ridiculous. I've never known a doctor rely on a blood gas reading to make a clinical decision on administering insulin, they are always unreliable. It's always fingerprick (or heel in neonates), the blood glucose monitors are accurate and calibrated daily. Also, neither of the insulin babies had insulin prescribed?

There were plenty of other blood gas analysers to use if one was out of action

Hmm I’m sure Letby tells this story very differently? After the parents of E&F had left, they brought a hamper to the unit as a thank you.
IMG_1834.jpeg

doesn’t Letby text someone saying they brought a hamper and that Mother E couldn’t stop thanking her and hugging her?? Sure I have a memory of her texting that to someone.
---
I also remember us wondering from the reporting at the time whether Letby had got consent to do the memory box for Child E and she hadn’t. She cut his hair and put the bloody blankets in the box with no consultation with the parents which always rang alarm bells for me.
This is also really shocking 😣 it sounds like child E was left in the cot with baby F over night after he had died and so she had to come down and see him there?? And guess who’s orchestrated that? bleeping evil witch. Absolutely horrendous to think she had that little baby that she had tortured to death to herself all night 😭

I remember the big debate on these threads about the memory box and whether she had permission.

I am sick today and can’t focus for long so can’t go through the transcript myself.

I thought the same. Baby E died and they just kept him in his incubator! When baby C was dying Lucy was trying to place him in the cold cot before he died!! Must be so hard to look back on and think of him lying there all night with his murderer. Surely the parents should have been offered a family/ bereavement room where they could have stayed with him.

It’s awful that Mother G still has concerns over Dr Breary as he is still treating Baby G as an outpatient. It just goes to show the long term impact of the assault and it’s implications.

Oh my word. So I remember baby Js parents complaining about finding her all soiled but this seems to suggest that they have only recently learned it was Supernurse her self that was her designated nurse that shift. I think she honestly would do anything to help a baby get sick. She’d know that would be a huge infection risk. After reading Mother H’s evidence today too, it’s another time E Powell dismissed a parent’s complaint.

I’m sure there were some messages from Lucy to others at the time saying things along of the line of not having a baby with a stoma before, or they weren’t equipped to deal with it. A bit like baby K, it made them easy targets with a level of ‘defence’ that she could use if questioned about it
---
Eirian Powell comes across terribly. It wouldn’t surprise me if she is a staff member that still doesn’t believe Lucy did this and would have spoken up for a defence witness. Because to admit otherwise would recognise how much she’s massively failed these families.

Oh my god. How did they not scream at EP after that instant dismissal? It's making me ragey even reading it. How bleeping dare she?

Yep I am sure you’re right about the texts. She was slagging everyone else off about it wasn’t she yet it was her that was that baby’s nurse and for some reason the stoma is out and baby was left dirty?? That’s her watch again.
---
It was actually Mr Myers that brings up the incident of finding her covered in poo and the stoma out. Presumably Mother J mentioned it in police interview and BM jumped on it as an example of suboptimal care and now they know Letby was the nurse that left baby J like that!

Just another example of this wonderful, very qualified nurse that’s been ganged up on ey…

Just how unlucky was poor Lucy really was…

- the sickest babies.
- babies with “complex” needs.
- babies where the parents left and they collapsed.
- handover sheets coming home AGAIN.
- coming in on her days off.
- Having to stay late and hanging around past shift.
- being on the ward with a poisoner on the loose.
- calling the wrong number in an emergency, oops.
- the dislodging of tubes happening consistently.
-just what are the chances of moving behind a children’s memorial gardens, in view of your rooms
- having a shredder, forgetting you have a shredder, then remembering having a shredder.
- going on holiday and the ward is fine and then “back with a bang two babies die”
- feeling like she’s been ganged up on

Just not fair the luck some people get 🙂

Baby J, was really well. She was in the lowest dependency nursery, had been breathing air for weeks and didn't need the heart monitor. Her mother had been rooming in over night but the night she went home Letby attacked. Letby found nursery 4 boring as it was just feeding and changing babies.
