It was mentioned by one of the KCs last week during the thirwell Inquiry that the families felt they had been dehumanised due to their anonymity. This is very true.
I was thinking about things like what time did the mother of Baby E and F bring the breast milk.
Letby's barrister can question the mother's witness testimony or perhaps find a witness or some other way to confirm the time was what Letby claimed, but without Letby taking the stand he can't testify on her behalf.
Not that it mattered as Letby, on the stand, said it was various times between 8.30 and 10 - but definitely not 9 o clock, which fitted the physical evidence f the phone calls etc. Which left her looking guilty.
Months after Child D’s death, the witness said, a review concluded she should have been provided with antibiotics earlier but that this might not have changed the outcome for her daughter. A postmortem examination had attributed the newborn’s death to acute pneumonia.
Child D’s mother said she kept pushing for answers, including writing to the coroner to request a full inquest into her daughter’s death, because “it just didn’t match up”.
She said she felt “dismissed” and “very upset” after being fed “rubbish” by the hospital and its medical director, Ian Harvey.
———
She added: “We had to piece the whole picture together pretty much during the trial. That’s when we were finding out information and that’s when things started to make sense.
“But to me if I wasn’t failed in the first place by the Countess in dozens of ways – and all against the protocol and guidelines they should have followed – my daughter wouldn’t have ended up in intensive care, I wouldn’t end up poorly and destroyed, and she wouldn’t end up in a place where someone is preying on babies.”
I notice the poor woman was on the stand for 3 hrs today, would she have been cross examined or just giving her evidence?
Seems a long time or maybe not.

No thank God. I believe they are not even in the main courtroom but a private room with just lady thirlwall, her KC and the family KC. They are streaming the audio into the main room for people to hear though.

This is all of Sarah Knapton’s articles. She’s meant to be Science editor.
Out of the last 12 articles, 11 of them about Letby. It seems her articles only started in July (with the serial killer or miscarriage of justice one) and these are the headlines of all her articles since then.

Being a very concerned citizen worried about a potential terrible miscarriage of justice could be a prolific source of copy for years to come - and income-producing of course.
Baby D's mother said she never had a conversation with Letby, but described feeling 'very uneasy' in her presence and that she 'stood out' as being 'odd.'
On the night her daughter died, she said she remembered Letby 'doing nothing useful' as medics fought desperately to save her, adding: 'She was just looking at us crumbling and crying.'
Lucy Letby is a monster and a grief vulture. How can anyone still be saying she’s innocent? How?
Baby D dying of an overwhelming infection never made sense because she was responding well to the antibiotics. The mother knew this and wouldn't be fobbed off. Her instincts were right. She couldn't grieve because she knew there was something very wrong about how the whole thing. It must be so difficult to hear about what happened next, how she wasn't stopped and the suffering they had experienced was passed to the next set of parents.
The journalists need to think about what they are actually writing. There is no new evidence suggesting a miscarriage of justice or incompetence of the doctors, police officers or lawyers. The majority of "experts" wading in with an opinion turn out to be woefully ignorant of the basic facts of the case. They need to read the parent's statements and have some respect.

Lady Thirlwall sounds very compassionate. I think she’s treating the families with the respect and compassion they have needed and deserved all along. Shame it’s taken 8 years for that to finally happen.
---
So this is mother A/B’s recollection of the phone call during child D’s resuscitation
Wow that is heartbreaking reading the parents evidence.
Bloody press going to parents house too, like they hadnt been through enough without being harassed by press too.
So baby A’s inquest wasn’t actually until October 2016 and the coroner wasn’t told about suspicions over Letby! Even though she was already removed from the unit by this point!!!
I wonder what his response would be if he had been told.
---
And in September 2016 a few weeks before, the parents had recieved only a one page summary about his death from the hospital. Their solicitor wrote to the pathologist and asked him to adjourn the inquest hearing until the full investigation was complete but he wouldn’t! (I don’t know the legalities here but it doesn’t seem right if the hospital are outstanding reports)
this was his response. And we know it went ahead, without him knowing about Letby and that the cause of death was recorded as unascertained.
It’s such a tough read but it puts so much context together. I’m still only on page 27/60!
I’ve just got to this bit which raised my eyebrows especially as the fan club feel Dr Hawdon’s report creates reasonable doubt. Baby C’s mum describes it as ‘woefully inadequate’.
This was only sent to her in April 2017 after she threatened legal action because the hospital were not giving her any info about the investigations of her baby’s death.
Oh wow this is what they found out about the report after the trial. So the Jane Hawdon report had been redacted even for their own son.
