Im all for true crime theories and debate but I get so angry at the denial in this case. The thought of there being even a tiny chance of people making enough noise that it could be overturned one day makes me sick and leaves such a sinking feeling.
never going to happen. these "truthers" should not be entertained for one second and i get annoyed at myself for wasting time thinking about them.

Can a ‘journalist’ be struck off? By the equivalent of the GMC? I think I’m having a laugh here 🙄 though I’d certainly be, at the least, embarrassed by that shocking drivel of an opinion piece.
I can’t help but think that having proper contemporaneous hospital post mortems or Coroner’s repots and pms (if referred) would have made a huge difference to this case. Maybe saved some lives.
Something’s gotta change.

Not sure why I’ve done it, but I’ve been on Mumsnet and it’s like returning to Spring 2023 - people disputing the insulin results, people saying no evidence of AE, NHS workers claiming they look at people on FB and take handover sheets home by mistake. Like going through a time warp 🫠

Sad ducks, I think the majority are the same NGers who have refused to accept 2 court case and, now, 15 verdicts.
There’s no hope for these people but it’s sad, alarming and (possibly) surprising that other, what could be (loosely) seen as legitimate sources are now jumping opportunistically on the bandwagon. Anything for a buck and/or attention.

This is what you have to contend with off the Letby loons now.

From Reddit

A “ready made social media crowd”. Who else can we add to that pile? How about:

* Dr Jane Hawdon, the lead consultant neonatologist at the Royal Free hospital in London

* Dr Svilena Dimitrova, a consultant neonatologist who is part of the government-appointed Ockenden review,

* Prominent statisticians from The Royal Society of Statisticians

* Prof John Ashton, who had blown the whistle on a cluster of baby and maternal deaths at the Morecambe Bay hospitals when he was regional director of public health for the north-west of England

* Roger Norwich, a medico-legal expert with an interest in paediatrics and newborns, John O’Quigley, a professor of statistical science at University College London, forensic scientist

* Prof Alan Wayne Jones, who is one of Europe’s foremost experts on toxicology and insulin

* Dr Shoo Lee, the world-leading neonatologist (whose evidence was *not* “rejected” from appeal, it was disallowed on the technicality that the defence didn’t call him in the first trial)

* Oh, and two of the UK’s 4 broadsheet ‘papers of record’ at opposite ends of the political spectrum - The Guardian and The Telegraph, plus the multi Pulitzer-winning The New Yorker. Just to name a few, these people are all gullible social media idiots - are they?

This is not an exhaustive list and it is growing.

So, just so I have this straight, you think that two of the UK’s most trusted, prominent newspapers, an American magazine of high regard known for its fact checking and investigative journalism, several leading consultant neonatologists, senior neonatal nurses, public health professionals, GPs, prominent statisticians, biochemists, legal experts, and a leading government microbiologist are all part of a “ready made social media crowd”. Good lord, is there something in the water?

Maybe the call is coming from inside the house and *you’re* the one who is part of a “ready made social media crowd”?

“Lucy Letby is never ever getting out of prison, is never going to be exonerated, is never ever going to have her convictions overturned. The reason for this, is that she is 100% guilty of the crimes for which she was accused. She is a baby murderer. That’s never going to change. I would also not be surprised to see further charges for Letby in the future.”

This is an awfully confident statement to make in a context where miscarriages of justice do happen and do get overturned. A context where so many prominent voices, who you may not understand the importance of, but the CCRC absolutely will, have raised concerns about the safety of the convictions. But time will tell.

The truth is that human instinct drives people to look for someone or something to blame, but the root causes are often more complicated and numerous. That’s what I think happened. That’s what these people think happened. But you, apparently, think courts are infallible and miscarriages of justice never happen.

How many of these people have had full access to every piece of evidence that the experts included in the trial did?

Dr Shoo Lee for example, did not, which is why his evidence was not a valid reason for an appeal to be granted.

BTW it doesn't matter how many awards a publication or journalist has won previously. If what they write is blatantly biased and purposely fails to include vital information because it doesn't fit their narrative, it will quite rightly be criticised.

It’s also very evident that a lot of these people have no idea how police investigations or criminal investigations work. It’s HIGHLY evident that not one of them mentions how Letby ducked herself on the stand…interesting that because if some strange looking large bloke gave accounts in interview and then completely changed their accounts on the stand, often tripping themselves up they’d be the first to be saying how damning that was. She was the worst evidence for her innocence out of it all

She murdered those babies with pure and utter intent. She has been tried by two separate juries. This needs to stop.

I'm sick of twitter. That bleeping Hitchens is winding all the NG nutters up again. There they are with their gut feelings and instincts, refusing to believe she's guilty. I feel like we are in a time warp

I hope someone tries to off her but doesn’t quite succeed, so she’s left with life changing injuries like her surviving victims. Vile thing to think, but she deserves it.

The twitter lot are expecting her to be out within a year and reckon no one thinks she's guilty and they have the backing of MPs and loads of bigwigs. I feel there's going to be plenty more BS articles to come out with sanctions on the media lifted. More rubbish today in the telegraph about echoes between Letby and some miscarriage in America or Canada.

They are quite relentless, seem to spend all day every day posting on twitter. It's scary to think how many people they are reaching with this nonsense.

They call the insulin test worthless and say the air embolism stuff is incorrect but Letby still has multiple convictions not based on either of these methods.

She's going absolutely nowhere.

Not sure why so many people are getting so worked up over internet trolls? She hasn’t had leave to appeal, she can’t appeal. It’s the end of the story?

What I’d be getting worked up over instead is people doxxing multiple witnesses, innocent family of witnesses who aren’t involved at all, dead babies and their families. All of which has happened on these threads 😐.

It’s hard to take the moral high horse posts seriously tbh when I’ve read through and seen all of that

It's very easy to say the evidence is worthless on social media when there's no challenge from doctors or lawyers. Anyone can claim to be an expert and say anything.

According to the trolls every expert was wrong and produced bias evidence. The insulin blood tests were faulty and Lucy's defence team incompetent.

It appears a lot of them aren't just internet trolls. They have attracted the attention of so called prominent MPs, and medical big wigs. It annoys me because the families made a lot of saying how they found all the online conspiracies grossly offensive, yet they continue to fester.

Letby also has a chance to appeal another way I believe. These a***holes are also saying that some mps are going to be bringing it up or something.

I have noticed that the odious little creep Owen Jones has also jumped on the conspiracy theory wagon too.

It makes me so anger, they are not thinking about the babies or their families ☹
