Hello guys - lurker here, stepping in for a sec if that's okay? I've been following this case since the beginning, interested as I'm a nurse and have an interest in NICU for personal reasons.

I've been following the headlines since the beginning of the trial, but not that closely until recently; then I started listening to a podcast and I've heard all the evidence from the prosecution and her defence and cross-examination. One thing I'm flabbergasted at - did she really only have one witness??? The maintenance guy discussing sewage from the sink?? Surely he isn't the only witness they could find? Have I missed some episodes of my podcast? I can't believe there would only be one witness, apart from Lucy herself?

Ps someone from my Trust was given a final warning for taking home one handover sheet! To have 250 + under the bed is madness!

Well, this thread took a bit of a turn while I was out. I'm about to drink some wine, maybe a lot.

My daughter is so much better today, in fact she's made such good progress that the consultant says she may get home tomorrow, armed with another 10 days of antibiotics. I've been to see her this afternoon and she's definitely more like her usual self.

It's not an echo chamber. Perhaps take some time to read from thread one.
There were many people who believed she was innocent, there were many on the fence, the rest thought guilty from day 1. As the trial went on and evidence came to light, people shared their knowledge to help others understand complex explanations in simple ways, others shared their own experiences to show how it SHOULD be done on a neonatal unit, opinions changed, friendships were formed and respect was built.
I dipped out of the threads around Christmas but followed on the CS, so missed a lot, but was welcome back in when I could bring myself to contribute.

These threads have never been an echo chamber, they've remained respectful throughout regardless of anyones opinion or belief, unless folk have come to stir up trouble..
You've jumped on right on the end to try pretty much disrespect every relationship thats been formed here and frankly piss people off, try Richard Gill, he sounds like he'd be more your cuppa tea.

Respectfully, why do you believe she is not guilty? As a former nurse and a former NICU mum I'd really like to hear your perspective.

No one’s even mentioned this vile case being for anyone’s entertainment. The vast majority of us are disgusted that those poor families have got yet another weekend of no answers, anxiety, nerves around what is gonna happen
I quite frankly do not give a single shit what’s going on with the jury as they’ve had ample opportunity to change appointments or even be removed off this case. They have Mondays off nearly every week, they’re in 10-4, they’ve had 10 months of evidence, there’s absolutely no need for this to be dragging on.

None of you, not a single one of you, has any idea what’s going on with the jury.
Imagine trying to do shifts for a dozen employees? It’s impossible without someone wanting to change. These are ordinary people with lives to lead.
This is one of the most serious trials I’ve come across in terms of the charges. I’ve no doubt the jury is taking their role seriously but also, frankly, half the population is below average intelligence and with 22 charges and 4000 documents is going to be a lot for people to go over.
This isn’t for our entertainment and I think those getting frustrated seem to think it is. I’ve seen some quite shameful comments about people who we know nothing about (and never will).

Noone thinks this is for entertainment and frankly that's an utterly abhorrent thing to suggest. Jesus wept man.

I’m going to say one more thing actually because I don’t take too kindly to being accused of enjoying or revelling in what happened to these people. When that could not be further from the truth, for any of us. You’re mistaking the bond we’ve forged, the laughs we’ve had to have to get past everything and the investment we have in the case because we desperately want the families to get justice as some kind of sick enjoyment of the actual events.
We are desperate for this thing to END. That is what truly unites us because actually, despite the echo chamber comments, there are many differences over aspects of the case, the jury, her motive, many things. Every day we hope it’s the day. Every day as the clock ticks down and we realise it isn’t, we are gutted. Frustrated. I want it over so badly so the world knows what she did and who she really is. I want that disgusting smug face of hers, holding up that baby grow, replaced with her scowling mugshot. I want all the people claiming she’s hard done by, to go back under their rocks. I want the families to put this harrowing chapter to rest. And more than ANYTHING we just want justice for those babies that had their whole lives ahead
of them, that she stole in the worst way imaginable. That is what really unites us and it’s not worthy of anybodies self righteous scorning condemnation.
And I’m going to share my mum’s message again, that summed it all up and explained how I feel about it all so well but this time, I’ll share my message she was replying to.

I agree with your mum too. I’ve felt this with other child murder/abuse cases I’ve followed. Sometimes I worry I get too invested and don’t want to hear anymore because it’s so upsetting but I think these children didn’t get the choice to walk away and they deserve, and need to have their voices heard and their stories told.

No judgement on individuals who need to look after their own mental health but I think generally as a society, too many adults just turn away because it makes them too uncomfortable to know the truth.

And maybe this is also why people can’t accept she did this, and why people turn a blind eye to child abuse. But without facing it head on and learning what happened then how do we, as a society, protect other children in the future.

Oh that was the reason that used to have me struggling to keep my cool... as a person who has first hand experience of relentless cruelty from a person other people didn't want to believe was capable I just think that's the worst reason for thinking NG.

The 'She loves cats and so do I, therefore she can't have done it' will stay with me forevermore, I am paraphrasing but that was the jist of it. I can't even remember who posted it (sorry if you're still here) but what an absolute insult to these families. And what a complete lack of human empathy.

I’m thinking about our ‘echo chamber’ and actually I think it’s possibly the only place that’s allowed people to thrash it out. Reddit, Websleuths, Facebook are actually quite heavily moderated in comparison.

I think also the format of having a singular discussion thread is a different dynamic to places like Reddit and Facebook that have tens and hundreds of separate topic threads that would make it more likely to miss things.

I’d actually argue that out of all the places on the internet, tattle will be most like the jury. A group of people who know each other well, who are allowed to fully ‘argue’ the evidence (only thing that gets moderated is personal insults and thread policing).

I always have to hear these poor children's stories. Think it's the abused unloved child in me who never had my voice heard, had people turn a blind eye to the abuse at my mother's hands cause they didn't want her to turn on them.

Been skimming through these threads as they go 100 miles an hour I sat on the fence for a long while as I’m a student nurse and see some of the failings of the nhs as a whole and needed some more time to digest everything about the case but to have seen the whole court proceedings and still be not guilty or sitting on the fence I cannot believe why are people just so naive to believe a nurse couldn’t do this or what? I saw someone say how someone is so quick to condemn a parent when they kill their kid like the likes of baby P, Arthur etc but cannot believe a nurse would do this someone with no real emotional connection well why not I’ve seen these nurses in real life, ones with power in their heads thinking they are above Anyone, think they have life’s in their hands. As a nurse I don’t get it as mother I get it even less take that as you will.

Fucking hell even the guilty camps on the Facebook groups are getting pissy. One group made 3 messenger chats as an off side to the group. One for G, one for NG, one for on the fence.

someone in the G chat screenshotted those fabulous t-shirts. It’s caused riots, all the messages have been deleted by admins and people are leaving all over the place

Yeah he’s a bit weird. I sell feet pics on Reddit and he reached out. He does it in secret so he calls me maybe once a fortnight to watch him f himself and tell me about all the cock he’s taking. Good morning lads so turns out I’ve been living off toast and ginger biscuits this week because I’m actually pregnant with my first! Ordered a book of dad jokes last night that should arrive today, and that will be how my husband finds out! So happy but also absolutely shitting myself I thought a microwave safe pot also meant it would be safe on the hob and melted the bottom of it and now I’m gonna be responsible for a person?!?!?!!
