really hoped we’d get the verdict by end of tomorrow. I go on holiday Monday for the week- both my kids have SEN so always require full support/supervision. Wonder if I can fake an afternoon nap each day so I can sneak off to catch up with Tattle whilst leaving them with hubby

I wonder if it has anything to do with the summer holidays starting this week? Either way it’s a bloody shambles. I hope Goss just gives a verdict himself at this stage it’s terrible for the parents. Disgraceful

But they were told weeks ago that it was expected to last until the end of July.

Could they not have approached the judge to iron out any issues beforehand rather than cause this upset an chaos?

My hubby’s mum had a ruptured brain aneurysm In Jan she almost died a few times he had no time off work at all, finished early a couple of times but that’s all

I’m so sorry to hear this that must have been incredibly traumatic for her to endure and yourself and family to experience
Don’t want to come across intrusive in any way but how is your hubby's mum doing now? My gran passed suddenly of a malignant brain tumour a few years back. Such a cruel disease.

Retrial at that and I can’t believe how much they changed their story from that one. I don’t know how long they’ll take to decide because they all told lies but will it be joint enterprise, possibly, but I find it crazy this was to stop family finding out about the affair and now it’s out more than 1 affair, the police have seen your pics and videos and up on a murder charge. Would’ve been easier to report the blackmail and admit to the affair. I felt a bit sorry for Natasha as she was clearly used for her car but then the story to her mum from prison makes me think she knew more than she said. Very interested to see how it pans out.

Spot on everything you've said above. I'm surprised the case isn't getting more coverage, the whole thing is utterly shocking. Every single one of them has been caught out with their lies. I think Natasha is playing dumb she must have known. Really hoping the families of the 2 boys get justice soon. I'm thinking 4/5 days of deliberations? Will wait and see...

Thing is if it’s 1 member of jury that has always got issues, surely they can be dismissed and at one point was that not mentioned?
Can this be a reason for appeal that the jury wasn’t able to sit continuously?
Poor parents this must be a living nightmare for them every day hoping it’s going to restart and verdict reached

Selfishly I’m glad I don’t have to try and keep up with Tattle for a week whilst I’m on holiday, but those poor parents. I promise I’m not a jury member skiving 🫣

i guess the same reason would mean he would have refused adjournment this week for ‘holiday’ leave though - his reasoning being there would be opportunity before September to do so if they had the verdict sorted If it is something along those lines where we have seen predictable problems with every school holiday, then some of this discussion does come down to why the juror/s repeatedly upsetting things haven’t been dismissed.
Thing is, we’ll also never know unless some consequence does come so getting upset doesn’t solve it, we just have to trust in Big Man Goss.

In a way, drawing a line under the week means the rest of the jurors have 4 days now to distract themselves, to dwell on any personal indecision and to recuperate. I think we’ll have things done by the first half of next week, possibly with one less juror or a majority verdict, but still.
Let’s also keep in mind that OH is there, and we all strongly believe she’s done more than we know. Justice will come.

Makes you think for trials that are likely to be long they should start with a jury bigger than what is actually needed so they can afford to eliminate people if they're constantly ill or if something happens in their life. I know trials sometimes have 1 extra person but you always hear of people being summoned for jury duty and sent home. Surely if a trial is going to be 6 months+ you could just add in an extra 5, and if they make it to the end just random number generate who'll deliberate if you can only deliberate with 12 people. It's so unfair to those poor parents having to wait even longer.

She came home a few weeks ago she can walk talk etc now, one arm isn’t fully working but it was before so they think it’s temporary damage as they put the electric nerve tester machine on and she was fine. It all moved. She still needs her skull putting back on but other than not cognitively being 100% herself then she’s doing amazing! Nothing short of a miracle. We hope cognitively she will keep improving- she’s no filter and will say it how it is, and will get a bit confused E,g her Facebook status will be something she was trying to Google but honestly… miracle

I’m sorry if this seems insensitive but at this point I feel like the jury, regardless of reasons for absense, need to put on their grown up pants and soldier on to a verdict. As stated above, if they hadn’t had all those days off following bank holidays and England games etc I might be more sympathetic. As it is, it feels like people taking the piss and it’s not fair on those poor families. I’d like to be able to give the benefit of the doubt but I just can’t, and if it’s childcare issues then it isn’t going to improve prior to September with it now being the school hols!

I do hope whatever has caused the delays doesn’t prejudice the trial in anyway. I cannot begin to imagine the torture the parents are going through during this.

I walked my 8 year old to school this morning for the last time in Y3. She was born early 2015 so all those babies would be the same age and couldn’t help but think of how much she’s grown and developed this last school year, her first year in KS2. She’s gone from little kid to mini adult it feels. And that’s just since September a month before this trial started.

8 years this has been going on for them, and will for the rest of their lives. I hope they’re all finding strength and comfort from somewhere especially during milestone weeks like these

it’s a good point but ethically could you imagine if that number generator would change the verdict if you have a large proportion extra?! Where would the CPS stand if the jurors dismissed before deliberation all disagreed with the verdict and felt they could have explained their reasoning to others to determine a different outcome.
this is purely off the top of my head, I think your point is valid but it’s an ancient system - I guess 12 hoping for 10 majority at the worst is seen as the fairest means for all involved. Not sure if you wonderful legal minds can add anything?

Hey Docmum yes one more to go! I’ve had the last 2 off though, sickness bug going around . Im allowed back tomorrow! Really want to be there also so I can say bye at the end of term. I’m just going through the motions looking forward to less stress come tomorrow.
