I am feeling a real sense of relief reading Judge Goss's summing up. It feels like the grownups are back in charge, if that makes sense.

Hi all.

Not wanting to blow smoke, but since the internet came about (I feel bloody old writing that), I've been involved with quite a few forums, and there's usually trolls and self-appointed gurus spoiling it for everyone - but the threads on this topic here have been brilliant - all involved show the right amount of discussion, reporting, empathy and humour we have all been hearing some horrifying and upsetting evidence. I'm sure others who have just joined are in the same boat and feel similar - so cheers all!

Been very frustrating not to be able to contribute, but have thoroughly enjoyed reading - especially contributions from Gigilou who isn't afraid to confront and articulate just how evil and messed up this specimen is - I've read and yelled ABSOLUTELY SPOT ON at your posts on many occasions over the last few months!!

I watched at the court on the Wednesday the week they sat for only Weds/Thurs (prosecution cross-exam). It was fascinating and horrifying. For me, she's a psychopath no question. She has this clipped upwards 'yes' she answers to confirm things like a robot. She seems extremely irritated to even be there, when she gets told to find a page in one of her many huge folders I got the impression that she was seething like she's being put out just being there, but knows she has to keep it together. Once she even rolled her eyes very slightly. None of the court sketches look like her imo - one bears a slight resemblance but I forget witch (see what I did there?).

One thing I disagreed with from others reports is that her parents looked 'broken'. Obviously no-one can tell what anyone is really thinking, but they sat opposite me when waiting to go to court with that weird older colleague of hers (not sure if I can put the name, but you know who I mean). They were looking and chuckling at pictures of family pets, then that freak friend of hers at ended a sentence with the words (NOT in a particularly quiet voice) "Poor Lucy". I moved at that point as I found it disgusting. I think the parents are probably in complete denial reading between the lines.

She, like all the freaks on the Facebook group (which I had a look at and left after three days), and the so called 'expert' on twitter etc are simply folk with empty lives, again - desperately wanting something controversial to believe in, in order to get attention (narcissist tendencies once again). Think they've had far too much attention on these threads tbh, it's giving them what they want. Like the people who immediately vote innocent/scapegoat on a new thread. they're nothing more than sad losers.

As many of us have, I'm not ashamed I've shed tears for the families during the prosecution evidence. Personally I'd like to see her put up in Trafalgar Square, injected with air and food and have a stick shoved down her throat, but NG is all we can hope for. It's good to read today's updates after the utter excrement we were subjected to last week.

Waited months to contribute something - great to be able to get all that off my chest!!

Judge Goss is 70, he has 5 children so is probably a Grandad. I bet he's a really bloody good Grandad too!

I'm sure this case has touched his heart like it has us.

Was just reading about a time where he dismissed the jury and tried the case alone following jury intimidation am bribery. This was in February 2017.

He's the man!

2 things that stood out the most today, she should never have taken the stand if she wanted to get off with it and 2 Wowzers I’ve not read the write up but in person it was overwhelmingly prosecution heavy, obviously he said some of the defence but with no defence witnesses to quote it didn’t bode well. It was a really good sum up it really brought it all together. Note to self though- more caffeine needed! I listen to everything sped up usually so it’s been hard to concentrate for sooo long. All in all much better start to the week and the atmosphere in general was sooooo much better today! Phew

I imagine there’s people just waiting to sell their story and spill all
I went to court today as well (with my friend), I noticed you were there too at the opposite side. I totally agree with everything you've said. I read the CS report and that was like a skeleton (without the flesh) in comparison to what Judge Goss said. When he described the Expert witnesses he outlined where they had trained, what qualifications they had obtained, where they had worked during their careers and it was all massively impressive. His summing up was done as simply as possible which is great for the jury. It really felt like "how can they not find her guilty". When he talked about any of the consultants he again described when they qualified and their areas of specialty and it was clear to see their lengthy experience which I felt undermined the criticisms made by Myers/Letby regarding competence. When he talked about any of the specialist Registrars he said what their ST level was so again you could understand how long they had been doing the job. He talked about how the defence had disagreed with some of the expert witness findings but it felt to me like Myers' disagreements had come across as pathetic and ridiculous. There was a man sat next to us who hadn't been before but had followed the case closely. He came from the south but was in this area this week. He was a hospital doctor and he indicated to us that he also believed her to be guilty. There was a man in front of me on a laptop, I thought he wasn't police as he wasn't sitting with them. I saw him when I last attended and on that occasion he was doing written notes. Whilst I wasn't able to read anything I did see the NMC logo on his laptop. I hope the summing up continues in this vein but I was more than happy with how the Judge did things today.

I've just walked in on my hubby in the bath, he had the whirlpool jets on and his testicles were bobbing in the water like two kiwis (the fruit not the bird).

Anyway I'm off to sleep having left you with that mental image.

Goodnight everyone 😘 (Except Lucy Letby and people who think raisins belong in chocolate)

Hello all, yet another newbie here. I’ve followed the threads on here since the trial started because it seemed to be the only forum where anyone with any common sense discussed the trial.

Those who are NG are either dribbling conspiracy theorists or people who simply can’t get their heads around someone doing this. I said on Reddit that I believe there’s plenty of people who see something of themselves in Letby, or something of someone they know and like. In the former case, I believe there’ll be lots of people who read into the arrogance and the self-centred text messages and see something of themselves in her. Where we see a snivelling little grass who lacks even the most basic empathy, they see a ‘go getter’. In the latter, well, we’ve been over this. The photos that seem to show the ultimate girl next door. Personally I see dead eyes. Those eyes remind me of an ex who had no empathy whatsoever and was weirdly proud of it. It gives me the shivers.

There’s a wider discussion to be had on the looks thing. As you guys have talked about, it’s all cobblers anyway. Old Ossie Bin Bag had a pleasant face. But if you look at all the old serial killer types, for every creepy photo, there’s one where the subject looks very normal. Dirty old ghoul Fuller looks like an artists impression of a nonce in his mugshot but look at the one where he’s younger and stood with a bike. He looks like the affable dad who referees the 5 a side down the local leisure centre. For Rose and Freddie Glitter, there’s that photo of them where she’s sat on the sofa. They look like the friendly couple next door. Dirty Den Nilsen looks like a bouffant headed ghoul in his 80s photos but see some from the 60s and 70s and he’s actually quite a handsome looking bloke.

So G or NG? I asked a former solicitor about that early on in the case. Her reply? ‘There’s a ducking confession note!’
---
Can I also say that you guys are hilarious and have added a lot of much needed humour to this. It’s an unfathomably dark case but you have to laugh otherwise you’d go mad. I’m not ginger. I don’t like Turkish delight. I only ever went to Matalan once and it was to buy swimming shorts for a holiday. I don’t even like swimming. Maybe that’s why I went to Matalan. But I’m telling you, it’s the only time.

One thing I’ve wanted to add which I obviously haven’t been able to. You all discussed what perfume she might wear. I don’t think she does. She looks like she smells of a concocted of Haribo and old socks.

I'm a newbie as well - must be really weird for all of the regulars to suddenly be undated with unknown folks - sorry! I feel weird as I feel like I've got to know you all from the 'outside' and now I'm finally in! I have been desperate to join since I discovered you just before Christmas as I've wanted to cast my guilty vote on every thread.

I'm not ginger officially but have ginger skin - lots of freckles and burn like a freak if the sun even looks at me and I love Turkish Delight - I used to have a Matalan card years ago but haven't been for at least 10 years so hopefully you won't use that against me ;). I've been firmly guilty since I first heard of the case - I'm an adult ICU nurse by background, although I no longer work as a nurse but am still in the NHS in a different role, and I followed the Beverley Allitt case as much as I could at the time as I was a newly qualified nurse when she committed her crimes. I can totally see how LL got away with it for so long but I have great faith in the jury to do the right thing and get some degree of justice for these families and their poor defenseless little babies. I'm definitely not on the LL Facebook groups - I'm a nutter but not in that way!

Thank you to all who have made me laugh hysterically, to the point where my husband rolls his eyes as he realises what I'm reading, in what is a very sad and distressing case. The love and support you've all shown each other has been very heartwarming and amazing 🥰

So this for me is key

"The judge says the jury should consider if sub-optimal care was a factor in the collapses of the babies. He says in a few cases, it is accepted there was sub-optimal care.

He said Letby accepted herself that sub-optimal care played little or no part in most of the babies' cases."

The whole of the defence's case was that it was all down to poor care, no? And here is judge Goss helpfully reminding us that Lucy herself said that wasn't the case.... Thanks for highlighting that Mr Goss 😎

Joining the rush of newbies! Another ginger (apologies), love Turkish Delight (more apologies), don’t shop at Matalan or wear a Lee Cooper leisure suit. Big fan of my home shredder.

I’ve followed these threads since the start of the trial and can honestly say that despite this being a horrendous topic, you are the funniest, most supportive and caring bunch.

I started off with an open mind, mostly because I just didn’t want to believe that someone could be so evil. I’m now firmly in the G camp. I still cannot get over her writing a draft sympathy message for the parents of the triplets and including the name of the triplet who didn’t die. BM’s GCSE drama project last week was ridiculous but hopefully we’re back on track now 🙏🏻

Another newbie here who voted guilty!🙋🏻‍♀️I’ve been following the threads since the trial began and Tattle has felt like a VIP club I’ve not been able to join so just been lurking from the sidelines….not on Facebook though I promise 🤣

I’ve learnt so much from all of you (law, medical, criminology and much more) and feel much more knowledgeable having read all your eloquently well articulated thoughts about this case so thank you and to @Tofino for the famous wiki! The jurors should get given a printed out booklet of the wiki for their deliberations 🤣

Jokes aside, it’s all so incredibly sad and my thoughts go out to all the parents involved. I hope she gets a WLO🤞🏼

Hello from another newbie! I've been following along for months and am glad I can now comment. I'm in a couple of Facebook groups but only comment there when I really can't restrain myself. It particularly annoys me when people try to minimise, normalise and excuse the amount of confidential paperwork LL took home and stored. I just find the FB groups insane.

I'll admit I initially thought she couldn't possibly have done what she is accused of as it is too horrific and I did think she was being made a scapegoat, but my mind really changed after the pathologist evidence for baby A (I think) which described the "globules" inside the veins of brain and lung tissue. Then the insulin cases are pretty damning.

I was absolutely shocked that the only defence witness other than LL was a plumber. Just wow! And I've been surprised at what BM has been allowed to say without experts to back it up.

Anyway, the end is in sight and I have faith in the jury. I am looking forward to justice being served.
Long time lurker, FTP. Glad I got the chance to cast my guilty vote today! I think the thing that really sealed the deal for me was the number of babies attacked on their due dates or key milestones. That simply cannot be a coincidence, and it lends enormous weight to the motive of wanting to revel in the parents' distress. Hoping the jury see it the same way!
Been following this thread for a while and wanted to add my input. From the day of hearing about her arrest my gut feeling has been that she is guilty, as difficult as it is to comprehend somebody in the caring profession being capable of something like this. I am a healthcare professional myself and have been involved in numerous emergency situations in hospital with babies/children and cannot think of any that were unexplained and/or unexpected - normally during a resus situation it is either 'expected' due to the patients condition deteriorating or being unstable, or an explanation is found quite quickly following full assessment or further investigations (blood tests etc). The evidence the prosecution have presented has only solidified their case in my opinion and I can't see how she could be innocent.
I hope that the jury make the right decision so that the poor babies and their families get the justice they deserve, although it could never make up for what they have been through. I also hope that her colleagues are getting the support they need as this would undoubtedly be devastating for them to hear evidence that a colleague that they no doubt trusted was actually causing harm.
I think following this case there will be a lot of investigation at CoCH and changes in practice and policies to find out how this went on unnoticed for so long and to prevent this from happening again. I imagine the police will also have to investigate every patient that Letby has ever had direct contact with which will be a mammoth task in itself as during nurse training there are 9 or more placements in different clinical areas and can also be across different trusts depending on where the university uses for placements. Sadly I think there will be more cases to come.
YES. I've not been able to vote before because i've not been able to register. I AM IN. She's guilty guilty, very very guilty.

Thank you to all of you who have made following this case as easy as it could be, by laying out all of the information and for many of your astute reasonings.

I’m just so sorry you were not all able to join us sooner!!
