She said whilst on the stand she’s willing to be lead by the expert evidence given in the insulin cases, that would suggest to me that they’re not going to dispute the medical side of these cases, I think they may have an expert suggest the insulin is more likely to have been in but the first bag prior to LL coming into contact with it. She says it was not a “targeted” attack but it was “deliberate” so in my mind if the bag was hung and insulin administered at this point that would constitute a targeted attack and I think this is the route they’re going.

I totally hear what you are saying but wonder how an expert could know/prove that? My question is HOW did she know it wasn’t a targeted attack? If you didn’t do it how could you possible know?

What would be the best website to enable notifications for when a verdict comes in? If I hear it on the radio or something I'll never get over it after following it every day since October

I just want to be with you lot when it breaks. Its going to be very tense. And very emotional.

@docmum has promised us some juicy medical stories for during deliberation. So, pans stuck up the rectum and such like. Bet our other medics will have some funny anecdotes to get us through.

After next week I don’t have a week day off for about 5 weeks so expect some full court weeks and hopefully quick deliberations I actually considered the curse when I was planning my summer work schedule you’re all welcome!! It probably means I’ll miss the verdicts being delivered tho - but I’m not sure my nerves could cope with it anyway.

In the Savannah Brockhill trial it was announced they had a verdict at 10:49am, 11:03 the verdict was announced. So I don't think there's going to be much time between, plus in the SB trial it was 3 days of deliberation IIRC? I feel like it'll be longer for this given there's 22 charges.

That was quite a complex case too, it was blatantly obvious that Savanna murdered her, but the deliberations must have been about whether Frankie was guilty of murder, causing/allowing, or not guilty at all. I remember thinking that Frankie was probably not guilty of causing/allowing owing to her learning disability and the complete lack of evidence that she knew Star was being seriously harmed before that horrible CCTV weekend in the car shortly before her death. But Frankie was very obviously guilty of child cruelty, but she wasn't being charged with that. I remember thinking the jury might swing to causing/allowing when they wouldn't normally think it was beyond reasonable doubt, or whatever they call it.

All of these charges are as complex as that trial, except there's 22 of them!

(Incidentally, I noticed some similarities about Savanna and Lucy on the stand: they both try to make themselves look good by criticising others - Savanna criticised Frankie and Frankie's mother's care of Star, as if Savanna was better at parenting. And Lucy is always witching about poor care and standards in the hospital. They've both been arrogant, too.)

I think the jury will do a thorough job, even though they probably know she's guilty of it all - and then some. They must be very committed and dedicated to have seen this through for 8 months.

Even though I was shocked by how much better her bullshitting sounded in real life than in print, I hope what Lucy has actually said on stand, and what she has failed to say, have been enough to help the jury reach their decisions quicker, as much as it has helped cement things for us trial watchers.

Lucifer taking the stand has definitely made the prosecution's case much clearer, although that may have been down to poor reporting early on. Even now that it's getting interesting, the reporting was still not completely accurate when I was there (we actually saw the podcast lady with a male journalist struggling to remember and note down Lucy's answer for the the question about her behaviour during Baby I's bath). The case for the charge about baby J seemed quite clear when I was there, but before, it was one of the weaker cases for me, especially as they don't even know exactly what she did.

BBC News breaking will have it on there I reckon. This is probably the biggest criminal trial going on atm!

Ah thanks to you and @Tofino that makes more sense and I do like to think of her locked in a cell all alone just waiting on her fate.

It’s very surreal once a case you’ve followed suddenly blows up in the media. It was for the Savanna and Frankie trial - to go from following the live updates every day for weeks with barely a mention in the news to it being everywhere once the verdict came in. It’s an odd feeling. Relief that justice was done but a feeling of profound sadness for Star and the great grandparents who loved her. This will be the same I think.

Yes would like to hope no more charges but think the chance are very slim unfortunately. I know shipman had a kind of trial but not trial for his other charges, do you know what that’s called and how likely it would be? Sorry if this makes even less sense than usual I’ve had a couple of aperol spritzes
Yes I’m sure we’ll get some more details at some point. Perhaps things already very much known by those investigating but haven’t been deemed admissible in court? Seeing as she found admitting to knowing what go commando means or to her relationship in the court embarrassing and couldn’t do it, she’s going to really enjoy us all knowing the grim and gritty details in all the documentaries to come I find the prudishness a bit odd actually.

Good think we don’t like her type around here then, she wouldn’t be able to cope with some of our smut here!!!

Now that Lucy has disputed so much agreed evidence, and now that her defense have admitted that Baby N's dad's evidence re the phone call shouldn't have been agreed, will this evidence be gone back over by both the prosecution and defense?

Also if she contradicted any of her own defense that experts would have testified on, would they then not bother to bring in those experts any more?

I understand (to an extent) not believing she’s guilty, but we had 6 MONTHS of prosecution evidence, how can anyone say there’s no evidence. They spent half a year going through it

I do feel, on evidence, of her guilt. But things like the heart emoji aren't a massive issue of conclusiveness. I have a lot of male friends I've known since high school. We sign off routinely with love hearts. I don't think that's particularly incriminating

I just can't deal with some people on the Facebook groups. It's like they want to disagree and have a counter argument just to be different. There could be cctv of her smothering a baby and they would still come up with an excuse for her. It's just mad
