So, sorry to be thick but I don't have much knowledge of the court system. Is it possible for her to stand when she's being questioned by defence, but refuse to stand for the prosecution or does she have to stand for both?

That’s a bit different, doctors have to write formal reflections on any serious incidents they’re involved in. Bawa Garba did this into her online portfolio that’s maintained by the royal college, those reflections were used in the case.

LL’s written it into her diary and we’ve not heard anything about any actual reflections.

I think see what your issue is. You’re applying normal logic to someone who clearly isn’t normal. If she’s guilty then this notion of what she would and wouldn’t do goes beyond what any of us would perceive is normal. That’s why the medical evidence and the other factors stacking up (a la the pencil metaphor discussed on these pages) is vital in determining her guilt rather than assuming what she would or wouldn’t do.

If you get away with murder for the best part of a year, you have to apply a decent level of logic to what you do surely. As humans we’re all hard wired to protect ourselves, I think that applies to serial killers aswell who are often the most narcissistic of us all, so she might not apply “normal” logic but I’d expect her to have a survival instinct, after all she’s not crazy enough to kill people in front of others. She clearly doesn’t want to get caught. And she’d have to apply some sort of logic to her decisions to help avoid getting caught surely

I think, if you have an opinion you just have to be prepared to back it up sensibly (and many have). Too many people come in saying “there’s no evidence” when we’ve just spent the last 7 or so months hearing evidence. That is ridiculous and I can see why people will laugh react in disbelief.

fair enough if you think it’s ok to laugh at someone that’s taken the time to put in their viewpoint. I personally wouldn’t, all perspectives add to a more interesting discussion after all.

It's one of those things people working in the NHS know, I hope that the prosecution has told the jurors this considering the timing. It's not been reported but this is why people say don't get admitted in august.

The other insulin poisoning was done close to a black wednesday date as well, they rotated 6th April 2016 and baby L was poisoned on the 8th.

Unfortunately, a lot of tests fall on the SHOs. It's one of those things that need to be sorted out en masse, if it's a specialist test then really it needs interpreted by someone who actually knows about it. But the hospitals don't put time for doing this in consultant job plans, so the SHOs are left to sort...

It's really quite telling isn't it, no excess deaths before Lucy started, then lots of deaths/incidents on night shifts, then day shifts once she got switched to days, then no excess deaths once she left. If it was down to poor staffing/training/whatever, they would have carried on.

But they haven’t shown this during the trial, have they?

Sorry going over old ground here 🥱 Those saying there’s no evidence… Very simple one here… Don’t you find it very odd that she is the only member of staff in that hospital that was present at every single incident? I mean, that’s really very unlucky for poor, innocent Lucy, isn’t it?

Yes, very odd and literally incredibly unlucky. I was completely convinced by this but have shifted somewhat from this. It's not evidence exactly is it? it's the way that data appears from one perspective. If you look at data/ statistics/ patterns in the team I work in (not nursing) it would appear that a few of us are terrible practitioners with awful results, but look at it from bigger picture and it's completely different. I don't know a thing about data/ statistics but I just think there might be more to come or more to it.
I really don't know.
