I can see the jury being excused from jury duty for the rest of their lives after this case is done and rightly so imo
Oh yes for sure. If they were to receive any erroneous requests for future trials I’d hope they’d shred the summons. Here’s hoping they have better memories about whether they own a shredder than Letby.

Those results are normal for a baby who's had a dose of insulin, and there are babies on the unit who receive insulin for legitimate reasons, just as baby F actually did at birth.

To be able to properly interpret them you need a doctor who knows the baby. Black Wednesday, when all junior doctors who are on training programs rotate to new placements, was the 5th August in 2015. Baby E was killed on August 4th. Baby F was attacked with insulin in the early morning of 5th August. The junior doctors looking after these babies will not have been back on the unit, and the SHO would most likely have been brand new to the unit with no knowledge of that deterioration to interpret it if they even fully understood C-peptide.

Which is why results like that should go to the consultants, who are permanent staff.
That's really interesting re: the Dr's rotating - has that been recorded, I must have totally missed that, thanks for sharing that. There was another Dr mentioned in the Wiki - Dr Beech, who seemed to be taking control of the tests and the results, so I again wonder, how it got bypassed. It just seems such a massive significant event that it's hard to understand how it just kind of... fizzled out I guess?

Are you suggesting the extreme hypo was from the normal amount of fast acting insulin he’d had some time beforehand when he needed it? I think that takes an incredible stretch to get there. I think I’ll go with the professor’s evidence. It’s so significant now because somebody has understood the significance of the results. The amount of insulin they had been given was at the limit of what the machines could read. What about baby L who was given even more?
The insulin wasn't at the limit of what the machine could read, the c-peptide was at the lowest the machine could read. According to the Wiki, anyway. And again, according to the Wiki, Dr Beech - who was there at the time, understood the test results.

The Wiki says:

The insulin reading is 4,657.

The insulin c-pep reading is less than 169.

Dr Beech says the insulin reading is "very high" - while there is no 'normal upper limit', that reading could be considered high, the court hears.

The insulin c-pep reading is the lowest reading the machine can record.

It's one of those things people working in the NHS know, I hope that the prosecution has told the jurors this considering the timing. It's not been reported but this is why people say don't get admitted in august.

The other insulin poisoning was done close to a black wednesday date as well, they rotated 6th April 2016 and baby L was poisoned on the 8th.

Unfortunately, a lot of tests fall on the SHOs. It's one of those things that need to be sorted out en masse, if it's a specialist test then really it needs interpreted by someone who actually knows about it. But the hospitals don't put time for doing this in consultant job plans, so the SHOs are left to sort...

Giving evidence on Tuesday LL said that she obtained her qualification to look after intensive care babies in April/May 2015 after completing a 6 month course a LWH
11:13am https://www.chesterstandard.co.uk/n...y-letby-trial-tuesday-may-2---defence-begins/

Does this mean that she failed this course on 2013 or is she getting her timeline mixed up again?
…wanted a greater degree of privacy hey. You certainly did Letby.

I didn’t really consider/even think about her three year degree going’s on. She was spending time on the unit even further back then.

7.3% think not guilty. I know that’s low but it’s still more than I thought!

Hmmm now that’s interesting!

Sorry going over old ground here 🥱 Those saying there’s no evidence… Very simple one here… Don’t you find it very odd that she is the only member of staff in that hospital that was present at every single incident? I mean, that’s really very unlucky for poor, innocent Lucy, isn’t it?

I’ve said before I have family friends who are gps/consultants. They always advised against going into hospital early august due to the move. Death rates increase and important results can be missed with new staff coming on board.

It was the Snapchat data wasn’t it? Savanna was very smug believing that Snapchat deletes data after a certain amount of time so they had no proof of a significant video call but the prosecution then had a tech witness who was able to access and prove the timings of the call. It was a mic drop moment for sure

Ah yes Snapchat!

I had to look it up. And now I’m missing Dave Jagger even more. He was SO detailed 😭

So Brockhill mentioned the Snapchat thing on day 22

on day 29 prosecution was able to call ‘evidence in rebuttal’. So this was a direct consequence of something she said on the stand. And the witness was a digital forensics operations manager with the police and held a computer forensics degree and basically rebutted everything Brockhill said 🤣

It was amazing to see. Still blows my mind how cocky and arrogant she was on the stand. I don’t think we will see that from Lucy.

Baffling to me too. I suppose if she gets out she has some options to offer private nursing care to some 🤷🏻‍♀️ Side note, as I’ve said before, I wouldn’t leave her alone with a bag of crisps.

Yes, very odd and literally incredibly unlucky. I was completely convinced by this but have shifted somewhat from this. It's not evidence exactly is it? it's the way that data appears from one perspective. If you look at data/ statistics/ patterns in the team I work in (not nursing) it would appear that a few of us are terrible practitioners with awful results, but look at it from bigger picture and it's completely different. I don't know a thing about data/ statistics but I just think there might be more to come or more to it.
I really don't know.

This was a total mic drop moment in that trial, it was absolutely brilliant how they shoehorned it in.

Was there ever a petition to get Dave Jagger a pay rise? I want to sign it :ROFLMAO:

It was a proper *gasp!* moment 🎭 😂

Yeah I agree, I think LL will continue with her poor little girl act, turning on the waterworks when it suits. I feel like with some of the things she’s said already, she isn’t actually answering the question. She sort of skirts around it a bit.
