It’s not people plucked from thin air, it’s people whose children have been deemed at risk of harm. It’s statutory intervention. Why would you share something publicly on social media that doesn’t match up with what you’ve said in real life?

We are here to protect you and your children, having a boyfriend is fine, having one and lying about it isn’t.
I love how people say social workers are useless, can't be trusted etc, but then when children are killed everyone immediately blames the social workers.

Edited to add that I am in awe of anyone that can do that kind of work - you're all incredible.

My little boy when he was 1 got in my bag and put an antibiotic in his mouth and chewed it. There was a rip at the bottom of my bag and I didn't know the tablet was there. It was a penicillin one, not like kids can't have that and 111 were really good. Said he would be fine amd he was. Me calling 111 triggered social services phoning me and I was terrified. The NHS hadn't called them they wanted to make sure he was safe because it sounded like he wasn't. I've never been so upset in my whole life. I made a complaint and they turned up to check his home life. He's safe and happy and looked after really well. So their visit was just because I complained, it made things worse. Getting angry and violent with them does nothing.
Yeah social workers don't take too kindly to complaints being made...

I wonder what evidence they have to suggest she attempted to kill the same baby numerous times. How could they possibly have narrowed it down that far?
I’m assuming it’s on the baby’s medical record that they deteriorated/collapsed/medical emergency that they recovered from and then something similar happened again.

It's baffling me how they managed to pinpoint exact times of attempted murders etc. How if lets say she did do it, did nobody cotton on before 7 deaths and however many attempts?

I've just said the same further up too ^. This must have been during the retrospective investigation but that would be very, very, hard to prove that it wasn't anything 'natural' causing babies to struggle at those times. Air and insulin are really hard to prove - so how can they say definitively? It'll be interesting to see.

Good morning! New to the thread! I don’t have time to follow this trial as closely as I would like to do relying on you guys! I don’t watch news etc. don’t even watch the tv! But this trial fascinates me. The absolute disdain I have for the NHS is unreal, purely due to my own traumatic experience at their hands exactly one year ago. So I hope the truth comes from this.

1. Lucy is an absolute psychopath, because trust me. They exist in the nhs and I would of never have believed it if I hadn’t of witnessed what I did- she was very similar looking to Lucy although a doctor

2. The NHS would have absolutely no qualms in throwing someone under a bus to hide and cover their catastrophic failings.

Either would not shock me. And I have no doubt our tattlers will get to the bottom of this better than ANY defence or prosecution!

oh, and I don’t trust the legal system either 😂
Do you think she's guilty?

It must have so much more into it. I think she’s guilty because it’s been a throughout investigation but I am sure she didn’t act alone. It’s impossible to be alone in a neonatal unit for so long. I had a premature baby, I spent 3 months visiting a neonatal unit daily and staying there for many hours a day mainly in the first week because of all the complications we had. Even us as parents do not have time alone with the baby, as the nurses are always coming and going, checking this and that. Neonatal units are also mostly open plan, many incubators in the same room. Some neonatal units are split in age groups or severity, but still, there are many incubators/cots in one room. It is great they caught one culprit but it’s not justice at all. This is a problematic hospital, much more needs to be done. They already had high mortality rates before her and they didn’t improve after her. They must to get them all.

Surely if she was a higher band nurser then alot on the ward would she not inevitably be around more of the deaths? Idk I know I wouldn't like to be on trial based on statistics.

Every treatment/observation/problem etc will be dated, time stamped and signed in the clinical notes. I guess once they started looking into it properly they could tell from this who was involved and when.

Firstly those poor babies and poor families. How absolutely unimaginable.
I did wonder if it was a case of incompetence but it seems hard to accept someone can make so many fatal mistakes so many times. I'm trying to be open minded and waiting to hear all the evidence and facts, but I'm another who was surprised by the details that came out yesterday.
Whatever the outcome I just pray that questions are answered for the families. At this point all they can have is answers and hopefully a little closure on the how at least.
Exactly...there's incompetence and there's incompetence.
LL was a fully trained nurse. To make one error is one thing BUT she has 22 charges against her. This wasn't incompetence, this wasn't a failing. By prosecutions account, this only happened on LL watch...so unless expert witnesses/defence state otherwise, it can only be deemed as malicious.

Whether she's guilty or not, that hospital FAILED. How the duck didn't they know? If babies were dying bur doctors say they were abnormally hard to resuscitate etc surely they would have known something was going on? And why weren't there others checking the medication?

You know the police advertisement. To me it sounds like they are still currently investigating deaths outside the area? Could they be looking into the other hospital she worked at? Could let's say if she did do it be facing more charges in the future?

The only other hospital she worked, did placements at was Liverpool's womens and they haven't found anything untoward there.

Oh ok fair enough. I'd love to know why they want someone on the team for the next 3 years. Asides from the obvious tragedies this is such an interesting case.

Yes, I agree. The hospital is guilty of negligence. To fail one baby is bad but 22 times in the space of a year?!

Its So hard to be objective in this situation!
With this level of investigation, the police and hospital must have been through everything with a fine tooth comb, and if everything only points to LL........Then the police and hospital must think she is guilty, so where is the option for her being innocent? What can her defence be?

It is a horrific crime, and horrific situation. Was it deliberate, or was it sheer incompetence? So difficult to know?

She wasn't a higher band nurse the prosecution have worded this rubbish. She's a registered nurse so higher than 3's and 4's but a band 5 , there's 6's and a 7 on duty during day shift , definitely 6's. She wasn't the most senior nurse there.
