Hello from Australia!

First post but been watching and reading here since the beginning :giggle::geek:

I have one question and one thing on my mind.

Had it ever been established why police were digging up her garden?

I know it’s been discussed a lot on here and there are varying opinions regarding her searching the parents on social media but what it reminds me of is notorious serial killers being known to hover around the crime scene to see all the chaos.

I am currently in the unsure basket and will most likely stay that way until we have heard a bit more presented :)

Love this forum and a glass (or bottle) of wine on a Friday night!

Regards,

H

As much as everyone else’s story is valid and important and bloody sad in cases - it derails the thread. Could personal experienced be put under a trigger warning?! No offence but I don’t want others’ sad stories, I’m just here for the trial. And some stories may trigger. Polite request and they do this on the jack monroe threads.
I disagree, the stories shared were relevant. People bravely giving their experiences of examples where the NHS have failed them.

You mean are you ok fella? Surely. 🤣🤣🤣 *said trying desperately to stop this turning into any attacks on anyone.
Don’t think it’s fair saying someone is annoying, everyone is entitled to say what they think and why. Also avabella has many times listened to stuff we’ve had to say in the guilty camp, and very often agreed with a lot of our points and considered our points of view. Don’t want any arguments here, so I’ll leave it with can we all just be a nice bunch of fellas together 🙏🏻

I'm confused about why the doctors were so shocked that 800g seriously premature babies that can't feed or breath properly would suddenly deteriorate and die. Is that not why they were in ICU in the first place because they are at high risk of complications and death? They seem oddly determined in their evidence that this simply can't happen and the only explanation is murder. As a lay person this seems odd. If I was on the jury I would need a bit more convincing about the cause of death being deliberate and not a consequence of prematurity and/or negative effects of treatment efforts which has been suggested.
I’ve said it before and I will say it again. Yes sometimes babies in ICU do die but you need to give a lot of these babies more credit, they absolutely can fight and they absolutely can come home. Not once will I pretend it is an easy journey but NICU is not a death sentence.

One of my best friends has worked for over 20 odd years on a neo nates ward and she said all her colleagues are talking about this case. She said everyone seems to think she's guilty her included. What she couldn't get her head around was the amount of deaths that she was present for. She also mentioned something about the mottling of the skin?? I'm unsure what she meant. What made me sad is that she's worried jts going to make people fearful of nurses now and she's devastated how anyone can abuse their position of power like that. She said she thought everyone went into the profession to help people 😔😔🥺🥺.
Also I don't think she looks like she's evil or not really! She just looks like your average Joe to me, and someone who's lost weight and been under a lot of stress.

I’m going to take a massive leap of faith here🙈 and say for once the one thing that all 3 NG, G and OTF camps agree on is that personal stories, and sharing them here is extremely relevant to this thread, and we all agree that for a healthy discussion/reassurance/answers to questions they need to carry on being shared 🤞🏻

So to clear this up in my head - and I'm not being facetious or wanting to start arguments - but what *is* appropriate texts to a friend/colleague and what 'should' they look like? Because to me they don't read all that badly at all. I could well see myself texting back and forth along similar lines, I just don't get what the missing parts is I'm missing (and maybe it IS me missing the mark here?)

I took my 9yo to the barber this morning, thanks to teacher training 🙄
Anyway, as it was his turn to get in the chair the barber called him over by calling him Fella, he was seriously perplexed as to why I found it so hilarious

On a serious note, I’ve worked in places where half the nurses sounded just like the last few pages of this thread.

If your face didn’t fit (I.e. too old, too brown, not clarted in contour and highlights for a night shift) you were ignored, didn’t get your breaks allocated fairly, didn’t get the help you should have with patients.

Nursing can be intense, if you make a mistake, people die. I think a lot of younger women don’t have much of an identity outside work and the culture on some units can be absolutely vicious.

I’m starting to think Letby is guilty, but there is nothing wrong with taking your work seriously, enjoying the company of older colleagues, going on holiday with your parents or wearing horrible tops. Maybe she had a three bedroom house cos she didn’t spend all her wages doing keys in £200 dresses?

I am old and have never fitted in anywhere, I also did waste all my money on clothes and having a good time so I’m not feeling personally attacked. I’ve just worked in some toxic places and feel a bit sad that the thread has slid into similar “let’s pile on the frump”. It doesn’t make you prettier if you say she looks shit.
I think most of us have shopped in matalan or BHS over the years, lots of what she's wearing was very 00s typical fashion and the photos we're seeing are probably taken early 2010s, me and my friends had that JW gilet in 2011. Its more just a bit of lighthearted chat because the thread gets very intense otherwise. No offence was meant to anyone and everyone here has such sympathy and compassion for these families, we're nice fellas really.

Oh sod off- not everyone has the same levels of education and that shouldn’t be a barrier to using a bloody gossip forum.

Get over yourself 🙄

Anyway fellas…as you were…. 😂
And some of us are typing on phones with broken screens!! Believe me when I say it takes enough effort for me to post without having to proof read and grammar check everything 😂😂
Also, I don't care if anyone has typos or errors, I can read the post and get the meaning just fine, think we all can!

Do you think it’s likely that all the parents are wrong? There are going to be more accounts of this type of thing too.
People's ability to take in detail and remember it varies wildly, I was mugged at gunpoint, I was completely calm and managed to keep it together to remember the number plate, type and colour of the truck and a description of the driver, my friend was in a similar situation and couldn't recall anything. Police will tell you that not everyone makes a good eyewitness. It is entirely possible that the parents have decided it was Lucy simply because she was the one arrested. Not a single person on here can state how anyone else will react in a set of circumstances, infact most people don't even know how they would react either because we all react completely differently and often surprise even ourselves.

Anyone would think the rest of the nhs is fully funded, fully staffed, with optimal care at all times and it’s just Chester that’s the anomaly for the entire country.

Okay, I am going to try and explain why I think Letby’s messages to her colleagues were off.

She starts off saying how awful work has been. How the deaths have really hit her now she has been off work a few days. As soon as the colleague offers a realistic solution such as the counsellor Letby shuts it down immediately. She doesn't want to hear about the steps she needs to take to deal with her issues, she just wants her colleague to be sorry for her. When her colleague asks her the very reasonable question of WHY she won't go to a counsellor if its affecting her as bad as she's making out to be Letby quickly plays victim and goes "I can’t talk about it, I can't stop crying".

To me that is incredibly manipulative and also totally not true because she brought all of this up with her colleague. She just didn't get the answer she was looking for from her colleague.

When her colleague makes the next perfectly reasonable suggestion of taking time off Letby once again goes full victim and martyr by saying no "work is always my priority" and says she hasn't been crying about it until today.

To me that is, again totally manipulative, once she realised she wasn't getting any more sympathy from her colleague she totally back tracks and makes out likes it's not an issue.

I find it interesting also that she sends this message after she's been off a few days, is she bored at home, is she missing the drama and these texts are just her way of looking for attention but they didn't go to plan and her colleague told her straight what she needs to do rather than pander to her?View attachment 1701719
Thanks for trying to explain. I think it's hard to analyse the texts because they're purely in the context of issues relating to the case. There's no previous chat of the conversation between them. It's not clear if this was an out of the blue message from LL to the colleague, or a response to a question asked of her?

Also I've been in tricky situations and it's been suggested contacting Occupational Health etc, and I've always brushed it off. Sometimes just having a moan to my colleague has helped get thoughts out of my head - but now I'm paranoid I'll be seen as manipulative

For context, I work in a high pressure, sometimes very volatile setting. There's lots of political red tape and procedures to follow, not unlike medicine I guess. Lots of people in my life have said they 'don't know how I do it' and why don't I just find a new job etc etc. But even when I"ve been absolutely on my knees with work, I've never considered leaving. I moan about it, I cry about it, it despairs me sometimes, but I love it. Sometimes I moan in texts how hard it is, sometimes I celebrate the small wins. I guess we're only seeing one side of the texts and that could be why it feels off?

I think nurses in general can be a bit over anxious about symptoms in themselves and others, as they know where they might lead. That’s not to say their going to go full ‘muunchy’ though.
I think Dr’s have always had to deal with ‘hypochondriacs’ and ‘Dr botherers’, goes with the territory.
Just wanted to clarify something. There's no overlap between hypochondriacs and people with Munchausens/factitious disorder. The latter is an attention-seeking thing, whereas hypochondria (known as health anxiety) is a type of anxiety disorder. With health anxiety, sufferers feel extremely worried about their symptoms and look to doctors for reassurance. They genuinely believe they're ill so it's not a bid for attention. One condition doesn't lead to the other.

Hope this post doesn't come across as patronising if I'm stating things people already know. I'm just mentoning it in case people conflate the two disorders.

I’ve been following on here since day one and I’ve got to say I’ve been guilty to unsure, then on the fence then not guilty, jeez my brain is frazzled!!
I’d like to think she’s not guilty cos I really can’t get my head around someone doing something so abhorrent. I really do think the prosecution are going to pull something out of the bag to settle it once and for all but time will tell.
As an aside I’m also frazzled at the amount of people that use “of” instead of “have” is it really that hard to say she must “have” done it, rather than she must “of”? 🤔
Sorry to be grammar police but it really spoils my reading!! 🤦‍♀️ I’m sure there’s plenty on here feel my pain!!
Can you not randomly pop in and nitpick? People type quickly to quick up with the threads.

I know so many of us here agree that we shouldn’t go off her “stereotypical” looks, but doesn’t she look so much different in the pic on the left, than from the “sweet” nurse holding the baby gro up pics on the right😮😮😮 not sure if this pic has already been on here before, so apologies if it has
I think it’s just the stress and weight loss to be honest. I’m sure we all look different when we need our hair colour done and nip out with no make up.

With regards to Lucy not 'looking' the type, I feel like a lot of people have the image of Beverly Allitt in their heads, who for most people is the case that comes to mind that compares. Beverly didn't fit the Western beauty standards in any way. I'm not going to say whether I think Lucy was pretty, plain or creepy looking as I don't think her appearance is relevant to her alleged crimes. However, I do think subconsciously people compare her to Beverly, and the two are world's apart physically. I will also say if someone compared a papped photo of me in the street to a posed, smiling one I'd probably look like a bag of shit 🤣
Guilty or not, those court drawings aren't helping her image...
