I just don’t feel like spending £27 on something that I have to sharpen, therefore half of it is ending up in the bin. Isn’t there another way to deliver the product? It just seems so wasteful!

The whole point of it being named an MBE, CBE or any other BE and it not being called an MUK or CUK was to be inclusive, because those who were located anywhere in the Empire were eligible for it, ie it could be awarded to foreign dignitaries at a time when most gongs could only be awarded to British passport holders. Now they are stuck with the name, because how do you change the name of a lifelong honour without suggesting that those who received the 'old named' honour are no longer being honoured? Also, isn't jumping in and condemning another culture without really taking the trouble to educate yourself about it just the teensiest bit, well...colonial in nature?!
---
Also interesting about the concealer pencil response @whitershadeofpale. I wasn't interested before but now am intrigued as I have a part of a tear trough which is so deep and dark no concealer touches it. Might this be what I'm looking for?! Feel like I need to get to the counter and try it.

No idea if you’ve seen this. It may help.

I think it’s a retractable pencil, so no worries on the sharpening - that was my concern too. I’m going to order one and will let you know :)

I messaged asking about whether it could be used under-eye and got this response. Not sure about getting two shades 😬
I bought one to be a true concealer. I didn't want it to be brightening as that's not true to how I do make up, and I'd it's to cover redness or breakouts (as per the video), I don't want to bring attention to them! You don't have to buy 2, but I do think it's smart of them to give people the choice.

Please do.
Did you order enough to get the “vegan leather” (plastic!) pencil case?
I did - I wanted 2 brushes too but held off until the launch. I could do with a smaller pencil case anyway so two (needlessly spent) birds one stone, so to speak.

That confused me a little as in the video Lisa says it’s retractable but also that it has a sharpener 🤷‍♀️

Quite easily e.g ‘Order of British Excellence’ a copywriter could come up with plenty of nuanced more respectful options that would have minimal change. (The simplest option i would imagine for the gov would be to offer nominees the choice of their ‘Empire’ as their E, or a second E term, as that would cause even less change politically whilst giving the nominee a choice. ( I don’t see how stopping an honour removes awards from prev winners, many awards stop being given in perpetuity without negating the prev award winners.)

What do you mean not educating myself about another culture? Which aspect of British culture do you not think I understand? I’m British and work in Whitehall.

(A colonial mindset isn’t just not knowing about something from another culture, it’s the belief that another people and land ought to be taken/used/‘civilised’/controlled/exploited.)

@50sGirl thank you!

OK, now I'm definitely interested in this product!

LE is such a perfectionist around concealing, I'm looking forward to hearing what everyone thinks.

@zcfthc5 I wasn't addressing you personally, just responding with thoughts on the general reddit posters.

Ugh, now you’ve told me this and I’ve watched the video, obviously I want it. This happens to me every bloody time!

I queued for about two hours this morning at the Covent Garden pop up. Made conversation with a few people either side of me which helped pass the timr but I feel that it needed to be time slots that emeralds could have responded to by email so at least you knew when to turn up and you knew you wouldn’t have to wait so long. They would have known the capacity of the shop and how many staff they had well in advance and although the staff were all lovely inside the shop it was just a bit random and all over the place.

After queuing for ages it was then another really slow queue inside to meet Lisa who I’m sure was being her usual lovely self to everyone, another queue if you needed to be colour matched and then another queue to have a go at a fun “claw” machine which dispensed plastic spheres which opened up to reveal a full size treat, (in my case,Rain lipgloss which was a nice surprise) we also got the choice of a baume embrace or a kitten mascara as I think we were part of the first one hundred customers. Also a nice cookie from Creme London.

It was a good idea but it definitely needed to be better managed. I learnt from talking to others that people had arrived at 9 on Neale St and it didn’t open until 12! I got there at 11 and the queue was already around the corner.

I just saw the latest reel of the pop up, I hope those of you that manage to go have a fabulous time. I managed to go to the one in Covenant Garden and it was great even though we didn’t see Lisa, but the staff was great and i did enjoy seeing her collection of old cosmetic.
how long is this one on for does anyone know?

My concealer pencil is here! Only tried it on my hand; it's true to skin both colour and texture. Will try it a few times and report back further.

The pop up is open from Wednesday to Sunday this week I believe. This one is much more focused on the new concealer whereas the previous one was more a generic showcase of the brand (this was before she was in any stores so it was the only time to see the products up close before purchase)

I’m loving the kitten lash mascara, the shape of the wand gets right to the base of the lashes and it defines really well without needing layers of it. The Liza liquid eyeshadow I’m not completely sold on, I’m finding it quite hard to blend compared to Ione which I love 🥰 I’ve tried it on the lids with and without moisturiser and with MAC paint pot underneath, so maybe it’s something I’m doing wrong. Interested to try the concealer pencil next!

this is the first product of hers I’ve thought is a total miss. Hardly any product (0.04g!!!!) and she’s charging almost £30? You can pinpoint correct in so many other ways using small brushes. Lisa has done this for years anyway.

Just seems ill considered and that’s at odds with the rest of her range.

Wayne Goss said the same. He said it’s a great product but vastly overpriced for the quantity of product.

I also saw a clip on Instagram of Lisa walking down a London street with a massive copy of her concealer pencil over her shoulder. I must admit it’s the first time I’ve cringed over anything Lisa has done. She doesn’t need tacky publicity like that. I hope she’s not becoming like the others in the business (looking at you Hirons) and doing anything for publicity.

I’ll have to look his review up, thank you! I always think he’s very fair.

I agree about the pencil thing. She’ll be swirling tea and bleaching her hair before we know it 🤣
