Currently doing up her new house, which is probably the most interesting content she's had for a while. However, it looks like she's taken some interior design inspiration from that bastion of good taste, Zoella (e.g. the tiles in the bathroom).

I agree with this, your entire life changes in an instant and no amount of seeing other people’s babies and listening to stories can actually prepare you for what’s going to happen.
I knew there would be sleepless nights but I didn’t realise that at 6pm every night I would have a little bit of dread knowing I was so tired and heading into another night of the unknown. You don’t get a chance to get yourself back from tired even if your partner looks after the baby for a few hours while you sleep it isn’t the same as a few full nights sleep to catch up. My sister having two kids couldn’t prepare me for what it would actually be like.

I do think Richs extended paternity leave is a blessing and a curse. When they go back to work is when you come into your own, you realise you can care for them by yourself and start to get out there on your own with them. I think him being there is becoming a crutch, she is coming across like she can’t do it without him being there and she can.

I totally understand that its different to nieces and nephews - I have 3 kids of my own. What I'm saying is she seems completely shocked and all 'why don't people talk about this' when they DO she just chose not to listen.

She’s so self absorbed that she wouldn’t have noticed her sister using a different one. That said they probably don’t all get the same flight together so she wouldn’t have noticed.

Don't let her put you off.

The early days are hard but they soon pass. Things will be much better for her when her partner goes back to work as it forces you to just get on with it. She will soon be in a whirlwind of baby groups and just marvelling at how lovely everything is. She will miss the early days. I loved my mat leave. My son and I went to pretty much every group going and had a whale of a time. Yes, we did have some incredibly hard moments but, in the grand scheme of things, everything was/is fab.

This is very true! I loved it with my 1st, and now I have an 8 week old baby, weirdly finding things easier 2nd time round! We just have to get up and on it, gotta get the big one to preschool so no time for lounging in pj's this time! Don't get me wrong, the lack of sleep still sucks ass, but that's just part of it!

I just can’t .. Bath seat, car seat, car seat cover , buggy, a buggy with a fan because no child south of London has ever survives without one, or been washed in a sink, plus all that normal luggage . Why did they bother going sounds like a house move never mind a holiday, there’s just no need.

Seriously, if that’s what she calls mess she’s got an eye opener coming when she has multiple children and maybe a pet. That ‘mess’ would take 3 minutes tops to sort.

I would not even have that 'mess'. You know, because I was always adhering to that simple rule of putting things where they belong the minute you need to put them somewhere? Comes in very handy when little children grow up too.

Completely agree. Newborns might not know day or night but there is something very daunting about anticipating an unsettled night with one.

Yup. I used to dread the early evenings when she was fussy, because I knew that meant I was looking at a couple of hours broken sleep tops.

Jesus Christ - back in the day everyone had a McLaren Quest. That could withstand a nuclear attack and cost tuppence. I appreciate that Grey might be a bit too small for that now but I just used my sisters old pram from her kids for first six months and then got a buggy. The kids don’t give a shit what they are sat in, they cover it all in crap anyway. Just enjoy your daughter and be grateful you are not having to go back to a job where you don’t see her for hours.
