I agree with what everyone’s saying about not being able to help an addict who doesn’t want help. Coupled with that, I assume most of Liam’s family inc his parents live in the UK and so may not have actually in person seen him regularly for a while? It’s hard enough getting an adult to accept help let alone one who is a millionaire and living a completely different lifestyle to the majority of people.

My thoughts exactly.....she's found out he's been messaging Maya and gone back home. He's then been left there, then found out Universal had dumped him and he's gone on a bender
Since I heard the news about Liam I have found it difficult, I just keep thinking about his son and his family. No matter what he was or did he was still loved. He's the same age as me and spent half his life in the spotlight. I couldn't be famous, even in death he can't get peace. Seeing the photos of Niall today too, he looks devastated. I know off someone who fell of a balcony and broke his pelvis and spent months in a wheelchair, he was one of the lucky ones. Drugs and drink make you think you are invincible and god knows what was going through his head.
The girl who took the pics of Liam in the lobby says in the DM article

They promise this time it will be different, they will really get the help and they will do it. A week later you are putting them to bed, washing blood/vomit/piss from their clothes and bedsheets. I'm sorry it won't happen again, but it always does happen again.
Its hard to deal with an addict but we do out of love.

Yeah life becomes like the laundry you have to do - a constant cycle of rinse and repeat. Absolutely soul destroying, and such a detrimental affect on the rest of your life.
I have refused to get involved and go to help another close friend as after 2 family members which resulted in losing one I just can’t put myself, my job and my young family through it all again. Do I still love and care for them yes but I just can’t insert myself into it again
He can’t win. If he didn’t acknowledge it at all people would be up in arms about it. He paid his respects (whether it was through his PR or by himself). That should be enough.

Thanks for saying this, I couldn’t agree more. I have a young family member (an adult but younger even than Liam was) who has severe mental health issues and drug addiction and we his family, especially his mother, have done everything we possibly can to support him and help him get clean. He has had long hospital stays, rehab/therapy, the lot but that only lasts so long before he slips again. We can’t physically restrain him, nor can we follow him around everywhere to make sure he’s not taking. He has stolen a lot from family members and told countless lies. The people blaming his family really must have no clue what it’s like when a loved one is an addict. If they won’t accept help and continue to go down that path, there’s very little that their family can do. It is devastating to watch something like that knowing you’re trying your hardest to prevent it but also aware that it is futile.
It really is one of the hardest things in life and people will always say do this or do that, at the end of the day its my dad, and I will always be there for him even if it does break my heart. Everytime I get a phonecall I think is this THE call, is this the end and your heart is in your throat.
I don't think anyone will ever really truly understand unless they or a loved one is going through it.
I don't blame you for refusing to get involved, it is soul-destroying and it plays a massive part in your own mental health. As I said, I will always be there because he is my dad but its so hard at times.
I though he did have rehab of sorts as he mentioned recently he went away for help for a bit. I bet all this type of help is all arranged by his management, label etc. It's probably all on his contract that all is to be controlled by management and that really is where the problem lies it should be something private and pwrsonal away from work which is largely a problem when work is where the issues likely spring from.
I realised he came from The X Factor and that is already alarm bells as previous contestants have said a lot about that show and how the contracts are and I wonder if he is still in that sort of contract. It must be horrible to not to be free to be you and be under control if that's the case.
Money, fame, adoration, freebies, fans is not worth sacrificing your freedom and wellbeing for.

Yes I saw on Youtube or perhaps IG and he talked about rehab after we came out of lovkdown. I have NO idea how it came on my algorithm but I watched it and was happy he was getting help

It's always been hard to be a celebrity in some ways, but the dawn of social media meant that suddenly these celebs had lost the buffer of their PR teams. I was shocked at the time by just how quickly celebs, and others in public roles, who would have always had their publicists to filter communication suddenly opened themselves up to the world. I worked in PR at the time Twitter was becoming popular and it was a nightmare trying to manage clients.
