Mine has been like that! I’ve looked, seen dates which disappear as soon as I click on them but never got a notification. Then other times I get loads of notifications 🤷‍♀️
Sometimes I’ll open it and there will be a full week of dates but no text. I always just randomly check it myself now.

My lessons are £30 an hour, when I first started with my instructor they were either £27 or £28. She raised them slightly as she decided to take another day off in the week as she used to only have one day off, plus they have to buy all their own sanitiser and stuff so it makes sense!

I read the other day the pass rate in my area is only 36% 😂 But tbh most areas are under 50% so it's quite normal I suppose. My test route is one of the worst apparently as it's in a city and there's soooo many roundabouts! My test is next week, I'm bloody terrified 😂

It feels so more intense and means so much more at our age doesn’t it? I’m 29 and I feel like if you’re doing your test at 17/18 then yeah it’s exciting, but taking it after living 10+ years without being able to drive makes it mean so much, it’s life changing.
Ahh I’m just excited. I didn’t take it seriously previously but this time I’ve flew through my lessons.

@Slatternly If you want to talk about Lowestoft, I have been learning to drive there for two years (😭😭😭) so know the routes very well, feel free to message me. One of the test routes is my drive to work- that’s super helpful!

Lowestoft is a great mix of different roads. I feel totally confident driving around- it’s just manoeuvres. In my lesson yesterday I was able to say which way to turn the wheel but then would turn it the other way!

Sounds like they were just wanting to overtake you, but doing it in a very stupid place and like an idiot! I had this happen to me a few times when I first passed my test (I didn’t even have P plates) and I had idiots overtaking me on roundabouts, honestly it was scary!
My instructor has done this for 40 years and says it’s getting worse on the road.

I think it’s just pissed me off because they appeared out of nowhere and they were going that fast then instead of them being in the right lane they thought oh I’ll fuck over a learner 🤪

Any tips on how to choose a driving instructor? We want to move out of the city in the next few years and I need to be able to drive before we move.

I am really nervous about learning. What would help me to prepare? The thought of actually getting behind the wheel makes me feel a bit sick.

At least it was just a practice! Was you on the roundabout and the driver pulled out on you or did you pull out on them? It’s a bit harsh if the driver pulled out on you, but maybe the instructor thought you slamming the brakes on was an over reaction? Could you have braked, but not slammed on?

Obviously it’s hard to judge without us knowing totally what happened and stuff happens so quickly in the moment. I’ve never been able to relax when driving since passing my test, I’m always so on alert for danger because so many people drive so dangerously!
My instructor went for the breaks too.

I was on a three roundabout and they came flying around the inside lane and and flew straight in front of me and shot past to exit. So they were in the wrong lane, double the speed and just doing what the hell the wanted.

My lessons are £35 an hour and I’ve got my first one tomorrow for 1.5 hours so that will be £50+

I can’t believe how hard it is to find a test at the moment! I’ve had a look and nothing near me at all.

Good Luck!! I’m hoping for a quick turn around after lock down.
how many lessons are you having a week?
thank you 😊 At the moment about 6-8 hours! My instructor only started back up on the 3rd July and after a 4 month break I just want to make sure I’m as ready as possible.

Im feeling ready and actually quite looking forward not driving with my instructor 😂 I really like her but it’ll be nice to not feeling so watched. I know the examiner will be watching but they probably won’t be so vocal lol

Update:

So my mock went Rubbish. Instructor said he's postponing my test to 😩 just wanna cry. 7 minors and 7 majors so I get it but it's frustrating. He even said the fact I was nervous is a sign I'm not ready
When is your test booked for?

With the current backlog postponing will mean you probably won't get another before September/October at the earliest

I would maybe try another instructor see what they say. Only you can postpone your test, this seems a bit off of your instructor

I’m on my third instructor, had a first lesson with him today…

Feel like giving up on driving. :( I genuinely thought I was an alright driver (maybe a bit nervous), but alright all the same.
I came back from it wanting to give up altogether.

I’m going to look for another instructor.

I have to work on everything regarding driving.. I just feel disheartened.
What don’t you like? Are you giving them a good chance?

Test advice:

make things obvious- exaggerate your actions when checking mirrors/blindspots etc and if it helps say things out loud, so the examiner is aware of what you are doing.

don’t panic - if you make a mistake just keep your cool and carry on; don’t just give up or go to shit

if you stall - keep calm, get the car going again, check it’s safe and carry on

remember the test isn’t over until it’s over!!!

good luck xxx
Thank you! ❤
