I have my test tomorrow. I am thinking I might try rescue remedy - anyone else tried it on a test? I used it on my wedding day and I don’t know if it helped or not.

I had a test mid December which I failed on something utterly stupid where I went too wide on a left turn it was because the bike lane to the left hand side was really big so I was trying to avoid to, but the examiner said I didn’t have control of my steering.

Hoping I do a bit better tomorrow but absolutely bricking it.

Pre-tests? I never had mock tests, I just drove round the test routes to get experience

I'm in Ireland might be a irish thing pre tests see I don't no the test route at all

Ah that's ok though, concentrate on baba and it will get there.

I actually had a break whilst learning (plus COVID years) so mine were very stop and start, a couple of instructors later and I vowed never to add up the cost

Just looking for some advice been learning to drive what feels like years ...Just over 2 years ovbs with covid in between .but finally got a car in April and really thought I'd get the hang of but it's taken so long I really want to give up and stop completely but in my head I know I can't do that iv got this far I can drive but when it comes to all all the others bits I'm just not getting it I get 1 hour lessons a week iv no friends or family to take me out in-between and I don't no if that's the half the problem I'm not getting enough practice I'm also driving automatic car anyone else been though this

One hour a week isn’t much time to get comfortable in the car or to practice. Could you up it to two hour lessons and practice on the bits that you’re struggling with?

I actually can’t believe it, I passed my test today! Am still in shock . So nervous to go out on my own for the first time!

It feels like a blur… When I drove to the test centre with my husband I had a big (stupid) pre test panic on a huge roundabout which ended up with me in tears… but I somehow pulled it together for the actual test! The lady actually thought I was a confident chilled driver… LOL.

Congrats!!! It is the best feeling ever - the world is your oyster now!!!
When I first passed, my hubby hardly saw me for weeks, I would finish work and just drive for fun! lol

I booked a test miles away where I knew always had spaces. Went on Testi and asked for cancellations where I wanted

Eat a banana- genuinely releases happy endorphins. I had 2 before mine and I was the most nervous my instructor had ever seen. Deep breaths, you wouldn’t be in for a test if you were not ready. You can do this!

hi lovely people, have any of you done an intensive course? lessons where i live are £45 p/h (literally more expensive than london, ridiculous) and the intensive courses work out at much cheaper than this per hour - would rather just get it over and done with in a week

Take it slow, there’s far more time than you need, and trust your instincts. You can also flag questions to review later if you need to, just take deep breaths and take it easy.

my first instructor had a new micra ascenza back in 2019 and it was really nice to drive and inside too! i like the new i10s x

My fave car is the old DS3 but my insurance on an older car is coming at 2K with a black box but admiral have quoted me £500 on a new car.

Money saving expert has some good advice ... E.g. I found the jump from provisional to full huge where I actually didn't drive for 3 weeks to bring the premium down. Insuring straight away also increases premiums and best prices are about the 23 day mark.
Also your job 'title' can affect quotes, they have a job picker style thing on there to help.

is it easier to get a test (cancellation?) when you've already got one booked, or do you need to be booking a new test rather than changing a current one? sorry if its a silly Q, really out of the loop

Ugh it’s such a pain waiting to do it again isn’t it? I had quite a good experience with speedy tests and eventually found a cancellation much quicker (test was initially booked for September but got it changed to July).

I have had an awful sleep, combination of baby + awful heat so just want to get this out of the way now, I almost don’t care about it ha.

it’ll all be over and done with by 10, please send out good luck vibes and pray there’s no idiots on the road (other than myself!)

So finding the hole observation thing the hardest I think if I got the hang of that would hopfully get alot easyer

In what context? Are you not sure where you should be looking/what to look for etc? If you can give us a bit more information this would be easier!!!!

My instructor got me to do a mock test today and I failed, a couple of serious faults. I know he meant well and wanted this to settle my nerves but if anything, it’s heighten them to the point where I had a full blown panic attack after the lesson and I honestly don’t think I’ll be able to do the test

What were your fails for??

It's nearly a year since I passed and each trip out still has it's nuances. Still nervous over parking and so forth but getting there

It’s awful isn’t it! I have also spent a ridiculous amount of money on it as I was practicing every night and driving home from work ect so the petrol costs hit me hard trust me the Thursday night I was on we buy any car but thank you this has made me feel better, it really is so disheartening especially looking back wishing you could do it again.

I will have a look at testi, do you just check it as much as you can and hope a date comes up or does it give you a notification?

It gives you notifications I think it’s about £10 but you have it until you pass your test Glad it’s made you feel a bit better, fingers crossed a cancellation pops up for you soon!

bought the testi app at the start of this year and i think there's been 6 test slots come up in those 11 months i've had the app for. not sure if my area is an extreme case, but i genuinely cannot fathom how people are managing to get tests

It definitely depends on your area/ if there is more than one test centre close by. My instructor at the time also told me that the DVLA website tries to block apps like Testi because of scammers who try to make a profit out of desperate learners.
