Krocks In The Kitchen

So far I haven’t seen anyone who seems to have a strong dislike for the Krocks. I think we’re just interested in having people to talk to about what’s going on with them since there doesn’t seem to be any other place to do so.

Hopefully nobody makes them aware of this thread. They don’t strike me as the type of people who Google themselves or have Google alerts set up for their name, so if nobody brings their attention to it they might not ever know it exists.
I actually don’t think anyone could have a strong dislike of either of them. Yes, both have some odd behaviours, but don’t we all.
I too hope neither find this thread.

Hi all 👋 I didnt watch many of the K videos but I was really impressed with how Brian explained what was happening, he read aloud the actual path reports (which can be kinda daunting to folks not familiar with medical terminology) and at least once showed the actual radiology images. While I understand why they went for a second opinion at Mayo, what I don't understand is why they chose to receive the chemo there. I thought at first that Mayo had offered them a novel treatment (maybe some new drug that had recently been approved by the FDA) or heck ... had a clinical trial that Jessica was eligible to enroll in. But no, she received carbo/taxol which is the garden variety standard of care. Any medical oncologist in the St Louis area could have treated her with carbo/taxol, with the gyne onc at Mayo kept informed of her progress towards the planned surgery at Mayo. Why make those long drives to Mayo while accruing all of the extra expenses? At the time I didn't know that Brian had lost his job ... which makes any extra spending more questionable. [At work we recently had a 30- something patient dx with a widespread Stage 4 colon cancer. The patient received chemo with us then had surgery and HIPEC at a hospital on the other side of the country). So it can be done. Maybe I should see if this person has a YT channel, I'm only half joking 😐. Jeez at some point this could happen...I'll see one of our actual patients on the YT.
Any hope on the horizon for RCC patients? Disease becomes resistant very very quickly.

Jessica had been pretty much unemployed for the past few years because of COVID — she was furloughed indefinitely. Not any concerts going on during the pandemic. I don’t know if she’s mentioned things picking up again.
She has been talking about being back at work. She also said they maintained her health insurance for her throughout her illness.

They post quite a bit on Instagram.

Having the baby under these circumstances proves they are selfish.
We only see snippets of their lives and form opinions based on them. We don’t enough about them to say they are selfish. Yes, Jessica’s cancer could come back, but no one is promised tomorrow and you can’t live thinking you are going to die.

If everyone that "had"cancer....went thru treatment and required follow ups stopped making life plans that would really be terrible. I think a big concern is a cancer survivor waking each day to think it is back. The Krocks are strangers to me so impossible to pass judgement on them.

Her mental health has always been very fragile. I hope the baby brings some happiness and peace into their lives. They've been thru a lot the last year.

It is concerning that as of May 2 she says she has major depression.
I know. This was when her surrogate was already a few months pregnant. Hopefully the early menopause symptoms and trauma from cancer is getting better and they can enjoy their new daughter.

I also have been challenged with anxiety and depression for over 40 years. The transition from peri menopause to menopause was the darkest period of my life. I had to go on hormone replacement therapy despite the risks. I am now the healthiest I have ever been. I can only imagine what Jen is going through and I don’t know if HRT is an option. People have commented she is fragile. I think she is very strong.

as I recall Jessica has been working during treatment...I remember her mentioning work.I may be off on that but remember thinking that was tough given how she felt physically and mentally.Brian is not working as I understand it.
Jessica has continued to work throughout her cancer journey, she has stated this many times.

@Saydee, I rarely log into Facebook anymore but today I did to check in on the Icelandic volcano group that I belong to. Then a post came up from a breast cancer support group I joined in 2005 when I was DX. I thought this is great let's see how everyone is getting on. Oh dear it was not what I expected ... the moderator of the group has metastatic RCC which has gone to her pancreas. She mentioned drugs I've never heard of. I'll have to go back and see what she said. I was just too saddened to read much more beyond a few sentences. That breast support group was a lifeline for me after my diagnosis.

Honestly we don't see many metastatic RCC patients at work BUT just saw path report yesterday for one ... the biopsy of a mass on patient's FOOT was positive for clear cell RCC. I'll have to see what the treatment plan says once the workup is complete.

At least they won’t need to buy teddies for the baby. Jessica will hopefully share her teddies.

I so hear you on the peri-menopause transition. It could easily be taking Jessica down a dark path, as if she hasn't been through enough already. I'm going through peri now and it's hellish. I'm angry it's not researched and talked about more. Typical though. I'm so glad treatment worked well for you and you're in good health now. ❤

Thank you. You are so right the subject is not discussed openly and often enough. I wish you well as you go through your journey.

About what? Is she still so sensitive?

I know this isn't a popular opinion but I'm still a bit worried about her emotional health.
